ALI GROUP / SCOTSMAN Vernon Hills, Illinois 92,000 RSF Imagine a desk sitting in the midst of an old growth, hardwood forest, with a cool breeze rustling the leaves around you. That’s the sensation GARNETT was able to capture in the interior spaces of this spectacular modern suburban office building, set amongst the trees in Vernon Hills. An authentic Italian café, a product showcase space, cutting edge research and development facilities, and national training center environments, intersperse the yawning volumes of space reserved for employee workspace. ALI Group’s US Headquarters will take your breath away!

NEXT CAPITAL Chicago, Illinois 14,750 RSF “X marks the spot! This urban loft office space on Michigan avenue has unique views and vistas down each corridor, with the spectacular views of Millennium park and Lake Michigan as a backdrop. Reclaimed wood from a Chicago River pilon, and a patchwork of refinished original hardwood flooring from this century old landmark building are a dramatic counterpoint to cutting edge architectural details, furniture and technology throughout.

CDW Lincolnshire, Illinois 209,000 RSF The relocation of CDW’s headquarters to Lincolnshire, Illinois was a monumental undertaking. Staff from three different facilities were brought together in this 209,000 RSF project which included connecting two buildings with a newly designed three story sky bridge and redevelopment of a shared ground level atrium space to act as the primary building entry point. The design style is both fluid and organic, the plans incorporate new and creative collaborative areas, and the space achieves a high population density without compromising an individual’s need for private space and unique geographic identities.

West Monroe Partners Chicago, Illinois 73,000 RSF LEED Gold Certified As a repeat client, West Monroe Partners came to GARNETT Architects, LLC with a new challenge; to create a space that reflects the same concepts of innovation and flexibility that have been the foundation of their success. The GARNETT team worked with West Monroe Partners to create a unique program and plan for their new Chicago Headquarters. The result is an organic layout overlaid with “framing elements to create more comfortable and better scaled employee groupings throughout the space and highlight client facing and high functioning activity hubs like the Collaboration Room and Training Spaces. The timeless palette of colors and materials selected by GARNETT reinforced the design initiative at all levels of detail in what was achieved as a LEED Gold certificate.

CN Training Excellence Homewood, Illinois 60,000 RSF CN approached GARNETT Architects, LLC with a request to develop a cutting edge educational building designed to train the next generation of railroaders. Over the course of almost 3 years, GARNETT worked with CN to shape the program and evaluate potential sites for a new buildings, before deciding to construct the Training Excellence Center adjacent to their US Headquarters in Homewood, Illinois. A generous public space in the new building anchors two stories of highly specialized training rooms along with other teaching and administrative spaces including a transportation lab, simulation rooms, and direct access to welding shops, live track, and a locomotive repair shop.

The converted double story space, sandwiched between mechanical spaces on the floor, has spectacular north views across the city’s famous skyline. Elements of exterior rooftop decks, which dot the downtown area, are introduced to the space, including pergolas and wood decking throughout. The “interior roof deck” is punctuated by spectacular light fixtures like fireworks in the night sky and fireplaces at both ends of the dramatic space. Sophisticated and cozy, cool and comfortable, R29 is the perfect location for informal mid-day business meetings or a glass of wine after hours.

Amalgamated Bank of Chicago Chicago, Illinois 57,500 RSF Amalgamated Bank of Chicago’s headquarters relocation from their home of over forty years to a new high visibility loop location was also an important opportunity to re-brand the organization and create a modern transitional space for their clients and employees. The 57,500 RSF project included significant technical and security challenges associated with primary retail banking and vault spaces, as well as creative planning solutions for many unique departmental needs on the bank’s two full floors of high rise office space.

American Academy of Periodontology Chicago, Illinois 12,000 RSF The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) reached out to GARNETT to help increase density and provide a fresh new face on their headquarters in Chicago. Through intensive programming and planning efforts, our team was able to identify the most beneficial areas to focus our attention, including renovating the entry/ reception area, creating an open employee cafÊ space, and reconfiguring existing open office workstations. This targeting approach enabled the team to stay on budget while maximizing the impact of the work. The new aesthetic of the space captured AAP’s desire to contrast warm natural materials with modern urban architectural detailing.

AISC Chicago, Illinois 15,000 RSF The American Institute of Steel Construction space at Prudential Center overlooking Millennium Park in Chicago reflects the association’s personality and culture. Clean architectural lines, efficient workspace and workflow, and a transparent & collaborative environment built around a social hub and flexible training/event space. The design creatively exposes and highlights the building’s structural steel framing a reminder to membership and visitors alike of the organization’s purpose.

Mediaocean Chicago, Illinois 25,000 RSF This advertising software company’s Chicago branch reflects a crisp modern aesthetic and fosters an interactive young culture similar to their New York headquarters. With a vision toward the future, the space is designed for long term flexibility in a rapidly changing work environment. While there are no private offices and a universal workplace standard throughout, GARNETT provided ample access to private workspace, and a great breadth & variety of collaborative environments to accommodate any potential need. Visual access to digital media is virtually ubiquitous.

Finn Partners Chicago, Illinois 12,000 RSF Finn Partners is an innovative PR firm in Chicago that was looking to create a space that reinforced their unique and creative culture. To ensure the success of the design, GARNETT engaged in an intense, but fluid, collaborative effort with the client to identify critical visioning and branding elements. While programmatically the space required a high level of compartmentalization, the office nevertheless feels bright, airy, active and open. From the point of entry, the design makes an immediate impression on visitors by inviting them to participate visually in the most critical and active areas.

McGarry Bowen Chicago, Illinois 42,000 RSF A cutting edge New York advertising company which grew from a staff of four to over one thousand in a ten year period, McGarry Bowen presented many unique design challengers. The client’s uncompromising standards and GARNETT’s engenius and creative solutions resulted in outstanding office spaces in both Chicago and New York. Pictured is McGarry Bowen’s Chicago office space. McGarry’s unique double story penthouse suite in Chicago’s River North area perfectly blends a slick modern “gallery” design with the raw Bauhaus style warehouse space they occupy in New York.

Franklin Center Showroom Chicago, Illinois 9,000 RSF Designed as a tenant office showcase space, The Franklin Marketing Showroom at 227 West Monroe St., is nestled on the atrium between two office towers. The design of the space is modern and tailored; stitched together with an abundance of warm and tactile materials, unique architectural finishes, and dramatic lighting.
