“ I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream. Vincent van Gogh
Glendine Chisholm was inspired by a childhood resplendent with landscapes of starkness, deserted homesteads, the refreshing oasis of dams, rusty windmills and the patina of dust laden sunsets. Growing up in Namibia she went on to study fine arts at the Pretoria Technikon. Her career as an artist has included many exhibitions including a solo retrospective in New York. The source of so much of her inspiration, the Klein Karoo, is now where she calls the charming village of De Rust home.
The kaleidoscope of a patchwork Karoo landscape is a frequent theme in Glendine’s work
Glendine’s still life work often focuses on chairs, the vase of flowers on her kitchen table and the pomegranates from her Karoo garden. Colour, words and imagery are combined to convey a sense of intimacy that invites the viewer into her personal space

The Karoo is not as much a place as a feeling, it enters through your bloodstream taking its time to unfold until its time to leave, then you realise it has take hold of your soul.
