fine printing & effective mailing
Garrity Print Solutions Capabilities Since 1984, Garrity Print Solutions (GPS) is a, full-service printing and mailing company. We have both offset and digital printing, and the capability to insert and match variable data material into a nonwindow envelope. GPS is the only commercial printer in the 4-state-area of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas with matching capabilities. In April 2006, Garrity Print Solutions began a complete reconstruction of its building and equipment just eight months after Hurricane Katrina, making a $4 million investment in the company’s future. Our Prepress Department offers state-of-the-art prepress capabilities by maintaining the latest version of design and prepress software. In July 2006, we installed the Kodak Prinergy EL workflow system with the ability to preflight, trap, and color manage. The Prinergy workflow system maintains full integration with the production workflow by checking and correcting input files automatically during processing of customer input files; providing automated PDF-to-PDF trapping; converting RGB to CMYK and handling spot colors; mapping spot Epson Stylus Pro 9880 colors to process colors based on standard or customized ICC profiles; and easily processing transparent files without flattening by using the new Adobe PDF Print Engine. Prinergy integrated with Preps Imposition Software allows for mistake-free imposition. This software package also includes Kodak’s Insite software, which allows GPS to accept PDFs, automatically flightcheck the PDFs for mistakes, and immediately return them to the Magnus 800 Platemaker customer for corrections if necessary. If there are no corrections, Insite will impose the files and produce a blueline. We can produce 25 two-sided 28” x 40” bluelines per hour with our Canon Impoproof eight-color ink jet proofer. When it comes to plates, GPS has the Kodak Magnus 800 Quantum 2400 dpi S-Speed automatic platemaker. The Magnus can laser fifteen 30” x 40” plates per hour. GPS prints all jobs on coated paper at 200 to 220 line screens for the highest quality printing. In 2009, GPS purchased GMG ColorServer with Ink Optimizer. The GMG software offers a fully automatic, top quality color conversion process, harmonizing the separation of the entire print job. We have calibrated our offset and digital presses to our Largo and Epson high quality matchprint digital color proofers. This high quality color management system is recognized as the worldwide leader in color management software, and is the first step in linking matchprint color proofs to the printing press. It is a key part of our Quality Control System as we move to become ISO certified. The first piece of GPS’s rebuilding started in April 2006 with the purchase of a 28” x 40” Mitsubishi Diamond six-color printing press with aqueous in-line coating. This high quality and high speed press has an ATS40m/tk 40” scanning densitometer with which the pressman can scan the press sheet color bars and allow the press computer to make color corrections. This system assures perfect color from the first sheet to the last

sheet. With the Delta Water System, hickeys are cleaned off the plate before they show up on the sheet. In December 2006, GPS purchased an HP 5000 Indigo digital six-color press. Unlike Kodak’s Nexpress and Xerox’s iGen3, the Indigo is not a tonerbased printer. It is an ink-based digital printing press. We can buy PMS colors for the Indigo, which gives us the ability to print PMS colors rather then matching HP 5000 Indigo PMS colors with a 4-color break. The HP Indigo 5000 product looks more like offset printing than its competitors. In October 2008, our pressroom upgrade was completed with the purchase of another high speed 28” x 40” Komori L640 Perfector. This press can print straight six colors, or in minutes change to a perfecting press that will print two colors over four colors. It also has a scanning densitometer for complete color control, allowing the press computer to manage the color. This press will save the customer money by printing two colors over Komori L640 Perfector four colors in a single pass. Our bindery is Heidelberg based with a Polar 54” cutter that has 198 programmable memory channels, a 130-B Transomat B stack lifter, a RA-4 automatic jogger and scale, and a 130-4 Transomat E unloader. This system is computer driven for program-precise cutting and employee-friendly workflow. We have two high-speed Heidelberg Stahl continuous feed 32-page folders and a Baum 20” folder with fugitive glue. Rather then vinyl ‘tab’ our customer mailers, which are difficult for the recipient to open, the fugitive glue makes for easy opening and still Stahl Folding Machine meets postal regulations. We have two heavy-duty Harris saddlestitchers, capable of stitching up to 13” x 19” forms. One is a six-pocket-plus-cover feeder and the other is a three-pocket-plus-cover feeder. This allows us to stitch two different jobs at once. Along with the saddlestitchers, we have a 16-pocket Muller-Martini Panda perfect binder and a three-knife trimmer. The perfect binder can bind up to a 12” x 15” sheet. GPS has two 22” x 32” Heidelberg die cutters, and two Moll Versa folders for gluing pocket folders and numerous other specialty folds. Our Mail Shop is second to none. GPS uses Postal Soft, U.S. Post Office approved software, to CASS certify (Coding Accuracy Support System) / PAVE certify (Presort Accuracy Validation and Evaluation) mail list. We also do in-house move updates, and with our Pitney Bowes ‘TrackMy-Mail’ software, installed in November 2008, we now know when the mail is delivered. With Track My Mail, we set up our customers to use our web site to track when their mail is delivered to the recipient. This allows the customer to staff-up when the mail hits and not before. GPS is the only printer in Louisiana with this ability. GPS also manages customer mail lists. We have I.T. personnel on staff who can write a new program if Pitney Bowes Inserter/Cameras a program is not compatible to our software. In January 2007, we installed a Pitney Bowes Flowmaster RS series inserter with cameras on the feeder folder and the first of five pockets, which allows us to fold a personalized letter, match it with a second personalized brochure/gift certificate, insert both into a non-window envelope, and then ink jet the matching name on the outside of the envelope to complete the match of 3 pieces: letter, brochure/gift certificate, and envelope. We can also ink jet a message on the outside of the envelope such as “Mary, your Doctor has moved, please check our new address”. This encourages the recipient to open and read the letter. We can also meter postage in-line. If we need to ink jet address any mailer, we have two ink jets. Both ink jets are made by Video Jet. One ink jet is alcohol based, while the second has a Wide Array HP ink jet head that gives the name and address a high-quality lasered look. This ink jet has a continuous feeder for faster run speeds, a powerful DH3200 dryer, and, if needed, an inline tabber. This ink jet is three years old. GPS has an additional Pitney Bowes inserter with a camera to match multi- Video Jet Array Ink Jet page forms such as monthly statements. It also has six pockets for additional generic pieces to be inserted. This inserter was purchased in December 2003. Garrity Print Solutions has three trucks for timely pickup and delivery throughout southern Louisiana.
