Academic Work The new Atlantic City Aquarium is both a new entertainment venue as well as a new infrastructural system to protect the region from Hurricanes as well as continual sand erosion. The design was approached from infrastructural and programmatic disciplines in order to create both an enjoyable and environmentally beneficial Aquarium. THESIS: ARCHITECTURE OF THE CINEMA Academic Work Architecture of the Cinema and the Cultural Experience was the thesis that cinema can be a revitalizing project for a shrinking city. A film institute located in St. Louis would function as a new cultural icon for the city and a place for civic engagement. The building was designed as an easily interchangeable and expandable infrastructure. The easy conversion of the project would allow for the continuing innovation of film and the needs of the community.
BOULDER HOTELS Produced for Johnson Nathan Strohe Located at 28th and Canyon in Boulder, CO are two new hotels, an Embassy Suites and a Hilton Garden Inn. The two hotels share a 2 story underground parking garage and back of house services. Both hotels are five stories with a total of 376 keys. The Embassy Suites has a 6,000 square foot ballroom as well as a second level roof top pool. The exterior materials are a combination of stucco, stone, tongue and groove wood, and Accoya wood screens. The Embassy Suites also uses porcelain tile, and the Hilton Garden Inn uses zinc panels. HOLTZINGER HOUSE
Produced for: Shopworks Architecture This single family residence located on Hooker St. in Denver was designed to give a fully open lower level for family interaction and a private upper level for the four bedrooms. The exterior is a combination of reclaimed brick, wood and aluminum siding.
GREELEY DOUBLE TREE Produced for Johnson Nathan Strohe This Double Tree Hotel located in Greeley, CO is a 6 story 147 Key Hotel. It is prominently located North of Lincoln Park adjacent to the growing downtown district. The Hotel has the regions largest ballroom and conference center at 12,000 square feet. The hotel’s exterior materials are EIFS and Brick with steel custom designed and detailed entry canopies. Drawings created in collaboration with Kay Galligan.
18TH AND MARKET APARTMENTS Produced for: Johnson Nathan Strohe
I helped through the conceptual phase of this 11 story mixed use apartment building in downtown Denver. I created multiple iterations of 3D printed models to explore scale and massing, and also made renderings for presentation to the Lower Downtown Denver Review Board.
HOBART AND WILLIAM SMITH DORMITORIES Academic Work
The dormitory served as an investigation into the logics of campus planning and the urban intent of campus buildings. The project utilized the ability to design simultaneously at the room scale as well as the campus scale. The design used repeating planes as a means to organize and facilitate social and private life.
CAMBRIDGE LABORATORY Academic Work This comprehensive studio project was for the design of a biochemistry laboratory building in Cambridge Massachusetts. The studio focused on understanding the requirements and principles behind laboratory design. A main focus being the integration of mechanical systems and the exterior facade on the interior environment of the labs.
