Making the most of your time at Hartlepool College Enrich Your Life Hartlepool College offers a broad range of enrichment activities and clubs to suit all tastes, from film, music, books and even virtual flying to videogames and sports (including inclusive sports). You can either play for fun with no added pressure, or join in at competitive levels. 1. The first rule of Flight Club is... anyone can have a go! Aspiring pilots can learn the basics of flying on the College’s state of the art flight simulator. Do talk about it! 2. The College has numerous sports teams, always on the look-out for new talent. 3. Inclusive sports like Goalball are also on offer, to all students, not just those with disabilities - mixed games are very common. 4. #TeamHCFE Elite Mentor Savannah Marshall.

For those really serious about sport, Hartlepool College is definitely the place to be. We’re the only College to ever get both our A and B football teams through to the final of the Under-19s County Cup, and our #TeamHCFE programme provides a level of specialist support to students akin to the world of professional athletes (subject to eligibility). TeamHCFE support is world class - literally! Aside from its facilities and programmes, one of our mentors is Savannah Marshall, a former HCFE student who is the ex-World and current Commonwealth Middleweight Boxing Champion, and also a member of the Olympic TeamGB - advice doesn’t come better!

Making a Real Difference It’s a proven fact that employers and universities look far more favourably on CVs that show evidence of volunteering - it indicates motivation, team spirit and dedication. Our Student Ambassador scheme is a great CV-booster, a huge amount of fun and a fasttrack to the heart of many Hartlepool College events. Student Ambassadors are also heavily involved in consultations with the College over student issues, and have a real influence on our policies and facilities.

“First of all, many thanks for choosing to study at Hartlepool College of Further Education – this is a decision you won’t regret. I’m extremely proud to be the Principal of one of the leading FE colleges in the North East and of the fact that we do so well to help young people progress into the world of work or onto university - Ofsted made reference this is in our last report. I really look forward to seeing you in September and working with you to help you meet your career aspirations.” Darren Hankey, Principal @HCFEPrincipal

Chill Out & Join In Social activities form an important part of the Hartlepool College experience, and throughout the year the College organises numerous fun events to help national and local charities. When we’re not being thoroughly ridiculous, students can still socialise in our comfortable “chill zones”, with soft furnishings, free wi-fi, and sometimes even table games like pool and fussball, not to mention our Rapport coffee bar and great value food court. In addition, the College’s RESPECT campaign allows students to debate a broad range of social and contemporary topics that affect their lives, and take part in special services such as Remembrance Day. 6
