Notes QUILT NEWS
Marge Edelson and the Museum Quilters have been braving the heat, while busily working on their 1999 project: “ Field of Stars” – a glorious red, white and blue quilt commemorating both the millenium and Ocean Township’s Sesquicentennial. The quilt will be raffled off at the Museum’s Annual Holiday Exhibit in December. Thanks to all the Quilters. _________________________________________________________________________
MUSEUM REDESIGN
The Museum sparkles! Well, almost. The Museum has gotten a fresh coat of paint and volunteers, led by Peggy Dellinger, are proceeding with the job of redesigning and reorganizing the collection. We hope that these improvements will help us in the goals of preserving the history of our township and educating the visitors. The third grades continue to delight in our stories of early life in Ocean Township. Many thanks to Peggy, Ginny Richmond, Rich Kurkjian, Kay Zimmerer, and Eileen McCormack for their time and talent. _________________________________________________________________________
EXHIBIT
“Happy Birthday Oakhurst School” is the theme for the 1999 annual holiday exhibit. The year 2000 marks the 100th anniversary of the Old Oakhurst School, the home of the Museum, and a special place in the hearts of all those of a certain age, who attended this school, worked here, and many, many more who love history. We are always looking for artifacts, but this year especially, would love to find any interesting memorabilia of the Oakhurst School, 1900-1976. Do you remember Miss Vorhees? Mr. Gorman? Miss Schmidt? Bessie Wells Hyers? Pass the word onto friends and neighbors that we are looking for photos, documents, student papers, etc We would be grateful for donations, or to borrow items for the exhibit. We would also like to hear from graduates and their remembrances of their years at Oakhurst School. The museum is open on Tuesdays, 1 – 4 PM. Contact the Museum 531-2136 or Kathy Parratt 531-0776. (We are also looking for 8th Grade Graduation photos from Wanamassa School 1930 – 1957.) _________________________________________________________________________

MANY THANKS
Thank you to the Ocean Township Garden Club, who did a wonderful job decorating at our 1998 and then came back to plant beautiful window boxes and plantings for the Playhouse.
