“ANTIQUE UNIQUE” PROGRAM
Please mark your calendar and plan to join the Township of Ocean Historical Museum as we welcome two very knowledgeable and talented individuals to our meeting. Wayne and Ginny Stevenson, members of the Long Branch Historical Association, have been involved with antiques for more than 35 years. Their program will include antiques and unique one-of-a-kind items from their personal collection. These artifacts date from the early 1800s to the early 1900s. Some of these items will be easily recognized but some are quite unique and fall into the one-of-a-kind category. Following the program, you may ask the Stevensons for an informal evaluation of one of your “antique” possessions. Please be aware that they reserve the right to tell you that they do not know anything about your item. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. Refreshments will be served. PLEASE NOTE: This is the first in what we plan will be a series of programs of interest to our members, friends, and the general public. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Our museum is again planning to march in the Memorial Day parade with our banner. The parade is scheduled to begin at 12:30 pm on Monday, May 26. Please plan to wear your museum tee shirt with white or light-colored pants or an old- fashioned outfit and march with your fellow members. The walk is not strenuous as the line of march makes frequent stops. The trolley will be available for those members who cannot walk the entire route. We will meet at township hall at 12 noon on May 26 for further directions as to our exact position in the parade. Please contact the museum if you need a tee shirt. _________________________________________________________________________
ELECTION RESULTS
The following slate of officers was elected to a two-year term at our February annual meeting: President: Virginia Richmond Vice President: Richard Kurkjian Corresponding Secretary Maryann Farry Recording Secretary Joal Leone Treasurer Joan Berzansky Museum Director Eileen McCormack Kay Zimmerer was elected to a 6 year term as trustee.
BY -LAWS PASSED
Changes to our constitution and by-laws were passed at the February meeting with one exception. The new honorary trustee category was tabled for clarification and it will be reintroduced at our May meeting as an amendment. It will read as follows: The position of Honorary Trustee shall be established. Persons considered for this honorary position must have given noteworthy service or support to the Museum. A member who nominates a candidate for this position must present supporting evidence in writing at the time of nomination. This is a prestigious award and merits very careful consideration of all nominated candidates. The title of Honorary Trustee carries no responsibilities or duties. It is a lifetime award. Any officer or member can nominate a person for the position of Honorary Trustee. The nominee will be considered by the Executive Board and must receive a majority vote with the President abstaining. In the case of a tie, the President will cast the deciding vote. The nominee will then be presented to the general membership and must be approved by a majority of the members present. There shall be no limit to the number of Honorary Trustees accepted by the membership.

COME ONE COME ALL
MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW AND JOIN US: Our fund-raising committee invites you and your friends to come along for a fun-filled lunch and cruise on the “River Queen” sailing from Bogan’s Basin, Brielle. The date is Sunday, September 7, 2003. Boarding is 11:45 am with sailing time of 12:00 noon to 3 pm. All cruising is on calm inland waters and the boat will be exclusively ours. Reserved seating is available. A Chinese Auction will be conducted during the trip. All profits will benefit the restoration of the Woolley House, future home of the Township of Ocean Historical Museum. Tickets $40.00 per person includes lunch and cruise. MUSEUM VISITORS
Two classes from the JCC (Jewish Community Center have recently visited the museum.
The first of these was the Pre-K class under the direction of Mrs. Pam Hirsch and Mrs. Bobby Duchin.

WOOLLEY HOUSE AND MEMORIAL BRICKS
Additional archeological work is being completed at the Woolley House and a Historic Structures Report and a Moving Plan are being developed. These activities are necessary before the house can be moved. Meanwhile the sale of memorial bricks is a continuing project with the total actual sales now totaling nearly 100. These funds are currently in an interest-bearing account. All profit is earmarked for the restoration of the new museum.
