MUSEUM’S ANNIVERSARY DINNER JOIN THE CELEBRATION 1984-2004 SUPPORT THE VISION: Restoration of the Woolley House
Hurry, reservations are going fast but there’s still time to join our celebration on Sunday, September 12. On this occasion we will recognize our founding members and those members whose leadership brought us to this 20th anniversary. Our special guest of honor will be Senator Joseph A. Palaia who has always had a deep interest in preserving Ocean Township’s history and who obtained a $100,000 legislative grant for the restoration of the Woolley House. A patron page will be included in our Dinner Journal. For $25.00 your name or one line greeting will be included supporting the restoration of the Woolley House. So whether or not you plan to attend the dinner celebration, be sure to send a check to the Museum to have your name added to all the others on the patron page. Tickets for the dinner are $55.00 per person, which includes 2 hours of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert. Send in your reservation and check today. ANNUAL EXHIBIT DEC 3, 4 & 5. In 1964 the Haupt family sold the property to Emanuel Terner and the property was then called Poplar Brook Farm. Two signs hung at the entrance on Deal Road for many years. These signs have been thoroughly cleaned and will also be preserved.
Our talented Quilters Group under the direction of Marge Edelson will soon complete another lovely queen-size quilt called, ‘The Flower Garden.’ In the near future, the raffle ticket chairpersons will be assembling our annual mailing of raffle tickets for our members. This is the only time during the year that we call upon all of our members to assist your museum with this very important fundraising effort. Please do your best to sell or purchase at least one book of raffle tickets. If you can sell more, we will be delighted to provide you with them. Many of our members sold multiple numbers of books in our previous raffles. Last year we sold a total of 3616 raffle tickets = $3,616.00. Please help us beat last year’s record. We have 4500 total tickets to sell.
HISTORY OF THE NEW LIBRARY SITE Some museum members have been researching the history of the land and buildings on the Deal Road site of Ocean Township’s new library. The Stucile Farm sign, thought to be long gone, was located in an Allenhurst antique shop by Museum Trustee, Marge Edelson. The sign has been completely restored and will be preserved. The property was called Stucile Farm by the Ira Haupt family when they were the owners from 1931 to 1964
