Managers notes

Good afternoon everyone and a warm welcome here to Litherland Sports Park for today's League encounter between ourselves and Cheadle Town. It has been a busy seven days but I will start with reflection on last weekends disappointing 2-0 reverse here against Ashton Town. I was disappointed on a number of fronts last week. Andy Olsen did an indepth match report and breakdown of the Ashton side and we knew that they would let us have the ball in our own half and that they would press us on the counter but the players have to learn to listen as they just weren't with the plan. The result and the manner of the defeat was disappointing and I made my feelings clear at the end of it. In midweek we travelled to Daisy Hill and with a tactical change and one or two personnel changes we did well. I knew up until that point Daisy Hill were in poor form and had conceded 18 goals so we could be a bit more adventurous and switch to a 4-2-3-1 and that bore fruit over there. I was pleased with the performance and it was good to see Colin McDonald get his hat-trick on the night. So with three wins from four games im happy enough with that up to now. Today we face Cheadle Town, they are a tougher test with all due respect to teams we have faced so far, they have scored plenty of goals but on the flipside of it they have also shipped a few as well. They have quality throughout the team and this will be a measure for us. The next four games for us I believe will define our season starting with Cheadle today, Runcorn Town, St Helens and Stockport all on the horizon too. I have touched there about the historic first FA Vase game for Litherland Remyca next week, I was being interviewed by Gary in the week and he asked if I had one eye on that game and I have to admit I do. Runcorn Town will be a massive test, they haven't got off to the best of starts in their Division but they gave Lairds a good game in mid-week and looked handy. I will maintain it even now that on our day we can beat anyone. First things first, we are looking for a good performance today and hopefully a win. Cups are great but the league is our bread and butter and we want to keep our eye on all prizes on offer. Enjoy the game today,

Phil
