About to head over to #TEDxLondon. Jazzed.

The topic of this TEDxLondon is The Future We Make. It’s a big one. David Rowan, Editor of WIRED magazine is hosting. He is also on the my Ignite team for Stream10 so the grids overlap. All good.

Comments [0] Diverse #SCAMP speakers have common theme: Digital is at the *brain* of what we do July 1, 2010

Am enjoying the different presentations at this lovely grassootsy digital conference in the cool LBi space. Most are talking about work that mashes up data with real time and the internet with real life. Fun stuff. Even though there are still a few repeats of the old agency mantra ("Digital is at the heart of what we do") I think the work is showing that digital is really the brain. Technology is what makes all the elements work and brings the creative to life. People are what's actually at the heart of these creative social ideas. What do you people think?

Comments [0] Psyched for the #SCAMP conference today. Our world is all Work in Progress July 1, 2010

Click to view large Download full size (103 KB) Delighted to be speaking at the SheSays SCAMP conference today at LBi and to be included in such a creative line-up. "SCAMP is all about Work in Progress" which is a wonderful tagline in a world that is in perpetual beta. The audience is anyone "interested in hearing about new, fun, and challenging projects that makes 2010 and beyond full of digital awesomeness". Loving.

Click to view large Download full size (506 KB) This picture isn't a queue for one of the official events at the Cannes Lions festival or the mass crowd that went to see Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. It is our Improv Everywhere stunt where Charlie Todd and H&K and hundreds of participating delegates created a faux tiny nightclub. It was quite an experience to both parody and celebrate the exclusiveness of this crazy week of marketing mayhem. Let me know if you were there and hope you found it as fun as I did.

Comments [0] Opening Day at #CannesLions 2010 June 20, 2010

Ok, well, the truth is, I just got here. So other than a peek at the beach, I haven't seen anything but my Twitter stream. But I must say, there's lots of chat. Wonder if bringing @Biz here last year for the first Tweetup in Cannes sparked some extra adland interest? Will have to see how the back channel is doing at the seminars. It should kick up for Mark Zuckerberg on Wed no doubt. But first comes our H&K mission with Charlie Todd of Improv Everywhere on Tuesday— seminar at 11am, but the street action will be that evening. Follow #HKCannes. Hope this will be as popular as Twitter. Cross fingers x

Comments [0] Getting ready for a week at Maestro June 13, 2010

Today, I'm in Chantilly. Not, sadly, at the Chateau, but on a pretty nice golf course. This isn't really a conference, but it will be a week of serious learning. I am doing the WPP Maestro program. Designed to strengthen the ability of agency peeps to be valued and trusted advisors to our clients, colleagues and teams. Sounds good. Of course, some British work mates describe the program with a roll of the eyes as 'very American'. I interpret that to mean at some point we have to talk about our feelings. I think I am an INTP or INTJ though, so we'll see how that goes.

Comments [1] A longtail of interesting content from #iMediaAgency May 31, 2010

The sign of a good conference is if you are still thinking about it a couple weeks later. IMHO, the iMedia Agency Summit passed that test. The highlights for me were from the outer circle of our marketing industry world, as we need those influences in our work. Every teen demo chasing brand manager should check out facts about the global decline of youth from Professor Sarah Harper of the Oxford Institute of Ageing. Word oriented bloggers can only envy David McCandless, the independent data journalist and infographic star designer who makes information beautiful. And brainy guy, Professor Christopher James, taught us the power of thought alone can move objects. Like.

Comments [0] Checking in to the #iMediaAgency Summit May 10, 2010

Another month, another iConference. Am happy not to an organizer this time. This will be a chance to meet some new people and hopefully learn a few new things. My boss wished me bon voyage by saying Brighton is the Cannes of Britain. Looking foward to seeing if that's true. Must note that this hotel here is right on the beach, so already I'm way upgraded :-)

Click to view large Download full size (447 KB) I love the Interwebs. Without which, none of this event would have been possible. Thank you everyone. Update: I've started to post the D2 content on the work blog. There's lots of it, so will be worthwhile to follow @HK_London to learn when new stuff gets added.
