One of the Conferences that we continually look to for inspiration is TED. Short for "Technology, Entertainment and Design", TED have built something that is on hand at the pinacle of professionalism and organisation with a powerful global brand, but on the other hand, is an incredibly strong grassroots community. I guess this is the strength of all power brands - what Ogilvy would call "Love Marks." Anyway, the reason why we mention it is because Drew and I as founders of Like Minds have been invited to attend TEDxLondon next week. An invitation only event that has been put together by Evan Grant and Eleanor Whitley, its live-linked with TEDxChange where Melinda Gates will be talking about everything they are doing and learning with their foundation. David Rowan, Editor of WIRED, is also there playing host for the day.

The Future We Make The subject, "The Future We Make", is something very close to our hearts. The whole idea of Like Minds is not so much about ideas (as they are everywhere we look now, thanks to TED’s efforts), but connecting people together who can make those ideas a reality. The emphasis here really is on mak e. That’s what will be the defining factor between our generation making a difference in anyway or not - is whether we actually make, rather than just think or talk. Obvious we know, but at times it seems we have more ideas that actuality.

Say Hi If you’re there, we’d love to say hi. Send Drew or myself a tweet and we’ll make sure we keep our eyes out for you. I’ll also be in London on Tuesday, working at the Like Minds Club, so if you’d like a look around and have a chat then I’ve love to meet up.

TEDxLondon is on Monday 20th September at 3pm. A limited number of places are available. To register, click here.
