At Gas South, we approach every day knowing we have an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.

Our purpose is to “Be a Fuel for Good.” That means helping our customers save money with great low rates and no deposit. It means investing in our employees and supporting their career growth. And it’s about making sure our success directly benefits our community by giving our time, talents and 5% of our profits to help children in need. Through volunteerism, charity partnerships and ongoing financial support, you’ll see we’re helping people in our community fulfill their potential with hopes that, one day, they’ll join us in being a fuel for good. Your continued loyalty makes all the difference. Kevin Greiner President & CEO Gas South

As a leading provider

of natural gas throughout the southeastern United States, Gas South has taken a close look at how we can make sure our success as a company directly benefits the communities we serve. We believe our communities are strongest when all children are well and have opportunities to reach their full potential. This means helping families build strong foundations, helping to meet their basic needs and providing positive pathways for kids by focusing on:

Our promise To give back 5% of our profits to help children in need

22

• Programs that serve children ages 0 to 21 • Partnerships with organizations to supply food, clothing, shelter and warmth to families • Creating sustainable success through education and career pathways • Giving hope to kids who suffer from chronic or terminal illnesses By providing focused, ongoing financial support — with the goal of giving more than $1 million by 2020 — and remaining fully engaged with our customers, employees and partners, we can continue to be a source of warmth for kids and their families.

Right here in our own community, families are struggling to pay their utility bills and put food on the table. They lack education, health insurance and basic needs. As a result, thousands of children are affected. By partnering with organizations that are focused on serving vulnerable families, caring for kids who have chronic diseases and enhancing education with tangible results, we can put more good back into our community and create a better future for all.

I’ll never forget the day I met my mentee, J’haniyah. I walked into the school and they announced her name. Everyone started cheering. It was like she won the lottery and it was just because I was there to meet her for lunch! We often discredit what we can offer others. The look on J’haniyah’s face when she sees me every month shows me that I’m a part of something special.

Carley Stephens | Community Affairs Program Manager

The beautiful thing about the call to action — to be a fuel for good — is that it allows us to surround ourselves with people who care about making a real impact in the communities we serve. So, when we donate 5% of our profits to help children in need, it’s not just a corporate check we’re giving, it’s a check with an army of volunteers behind it. Our employees and partners are a vital component in those outreach initiatives. And, as a customer, you’re helping make a difference too. You're part of the movement. 4

Rajiv Thomas | Systems Engineer

Anyone can build a robot and compete. We push kids to problem solve on their own. It’s truly fulfilling to watch the kids work through obstacles. We encourage a love of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). And through that, we’ve seen our students become better people. When we were at the World Competition, the team from Israel was not able to get their batteries through security. Our students offered to let them borrow our batteries when we weren’t using them. That was a proud moment for me.

Giving our time. We want to empower our employees to give back in ways that are meaningful to them. As a locally owned company, we believe it’s important to donate to partner organizations monetarily and to also volunteer our time. That’s why all regular salaried and hourly employees get eight hours of paid time per year to serve with a 501(c)(3). Nearly 70% of our workforce is fully engaged in volunteerism. And, during the last fiscal year, Gas South has been a part of 50 volunteer events and engaged 160 individual employee volunteers.

2017 volunteer highlights include: • Supplying heating assistance to more than 86 families in the Metro Area during winter 2017 through our partnership with HEAT.

A look at the numbers Volunteerism

• Providing and sorting school supplies for six Atlanta public schools on MLK Day. • More than 36,000 students experienced the Junior Achievement Discovery Center with our support and 46 employees engaged with 580 students at the Gas South store. • Donating toys to MUST Ministries Christmas Shop serving 4,148 children. • 14 employees volunteered to sort and distribute canned food for the Center for Family Resources Thanks for Giving initiative, volunteering 56 hours. • 15 employees rang the Salvation Army Kettle Bell in December 2017, volunteering 30 hours total and raising more than $700. • Raising more than $400 for the Atlanta Food Bank in a Penny War competition for the Hunger Walk to help supply 1,600 meals to those in need. Additionally, 13 employees walked in the Hunger Walk to support the AFB.

Employee engagement. Volunteering is good for our community and good for our employees: • Employee engagement and retention rates continue to increase. In the Customer Care Center, attrition has improved—dropping from 27% in 2016 to 19% in 2017. • Gas South moved up eight spots in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Top Places to Work ranking in 2017. • According to our employee engagement survey, statements regarding expectations, formal training, pay, work/life balance, and benefits have improved by 11% over last year. 8

Action Ministries

For more than 50 years, Action Ministries has served its neighbors in Georgia who struggle with food insecurity, homelessness and lack opportunity due to educational gaps. Our work would not be possible without the power of partnerships. Gas South is an example of one such partner who believes that communities are stronger when people thrive. Our partnership is focused on ending childhood hunger through our Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program, and we’ve been able to serve more kids in more places than ever before because of the generosity of Gas South and its customers.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement (JA) of Georgia thanks Gas South for their support and impact in the JA Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Center in Atlanta. Gas South’s annual investment directly supports delivery of JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs to more than 38,000 students within Atlanta Public Schools, Dekalb County Schools, Fulton County Schools and Marietta City Schools. Gas South also supports JA of Georgia’s programs through the power of their employee volunteerism. Shepherd Center

We’re tremendously grateful for Shepherd Center’s partnership with Gas South. The company’s continued support of our adolescent program helps make therapy, education, peer support and community reintegration outings possible. These services ensure that our adolescent patients with spinal cord and brain injury return to their homes, schools and communities with independence and dignity. Gas South is truly helping our youngest patients see their future beyond injury and re-engage in life in every way possible.

– Sarah Morrison, President and CEO, Shepherd Center

Bert’s Big Adventure

Bert’s Big Adventure was proud to add the Gas South team to our family in 2017. Our magical, five-day, all-expenses-paid journey to Walt Disney World would not have been possible without the financial support of Gas South. The trip magically changed the lives of 13 kids with chronic and terminal illnesses and their entire families. Gas South helped provide a VIP experience that these families would never have been able to experience on their own, providing cherished memories to last a lifetime. These Bert’s Big Adventure kids and their families continue to benefit from Gas South’s support through year-round initiatives such as: The Fairy God Parent Program, Reunion Adventures and other charitable services. Thank you, Gas South for supporting Bert’s Big Adventure and thank you for everything you do in the community.

– Bobby Kelly, Director of Development, Bert’s Big Adventure 12
