Resilience. That is the word I would choose to describe this year’s graduating MBA class. The Georgia Tech Scheller MBA Class of 2020 displayed remarkable resilience and achieved outstanding employment success in the face of all the obstacles and disruptions caused by the pandemic. Proven processes, job search techniques, and programs benefitted these students – but it was the personal care and coaching of the Jones MBA Career Center team that helped our graduates achieve their success. Statistics are wonderful – they let one compare ‘apples to apples’ – but at Scheller, we’re not driven by statistics. What drives us are personal, human stories and the dreams and ambitions of each individual student. And we are immensely proud of the dreams that were fulfilled this year.

“When my start date was pushed due to the pandemic, the advisors from the Jones MBA Career Center were quick to reach out to the campus recruiting specialist at Deloitte. This helped me bridge the gap in communication about my ongoing critical situation. The Career Center has gone above and beyond to assist me. They were able to schedule a conversation connecting me, campus recruiters from Deloitte, and Georgia Tech’s Office of International Education Scholars to discuss the implications of the postponement on international students like me.” Manasa Sree Tondepu, Full-time MBA ‘20 Pre-MBA Career: Business Intelligence Engineer, SPM Analytics, Xactly Corp Post-MBA Career: Senior Consultant, Deloitte Consulting
“Navigating a career pivot can be hard. The Jones MBA Career Center was instrumental in helping me to build the bridge from engineering to marketing. Before completing my MBA, I was able to use their advice to get into project management, a job that had many skills in common with engineering and allowed me to develop new skillsets that would transfer to marketing. That job directly contributed to my ability to pivot into a product management position after graduation.” Tyler French, Evening MBA ‘20 Pre-MBA Career: Product Development/Product Design Engineer, Blue Bird Corporation Post-MBA Career: Marketing Supervisor, UPS
“I had a lot more confidence heading into an ambiguous job market because I knew that I had more people in my corner, people with their ears to the ground. I had our alumni network and the network of my peers that would really help me.” Peter Flaaen, Full-time MBA ‘20 Pre-MBA Career: Director of Partnerships & Volunteerism, Atlanta Mission Post-MBA Career: Manager of Product Management, Delivery Tracking & Reporting, The Home Depot
