SAFETY & FREEDOM: YOUNG PEOPLE STRESS THAT EVERYONE SHOULD FEEL SAFE IN THEIR CENTRE, AND FREE FROM CONCERN ABOUT BULLYING OR THEFT. HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT WANT SECURITY TO PRESENT A PHYSICAL OR MENTAL BARRIER TO VISITORS. WELCOMING SPACES- THE CENTRE SHOULD BE FOR ALL, THE PARTICIPANT, THE HOST OR JUST VISITORS, THEY MUST FEEL WELCOMED AND BE A PART OF IT.
WE OFTEN TEND TO MAKE OUR MARK, STAND OUT AMONGST OTHERS AND LOOK SUPERIOR, BUT ACTUAL BEAUTY IS IN ADAPTING TO THE SURROUNDINGS, MERGE WITHIN AND THEN EXPERIENCE THE INNER BEAUTY OF NATURE. BEAUTY OF CAMOUFLAGE- UNVEILING THE HIDDEN SECRETS OF NATURE & OUR SURROUNDINGS. THE IDEA IS TO DESIGN IN A WAY THAT IT BECOMES A PART OF THE BEAUTIFUL NATURAL FEATURES ON THE SITE - VEGETATION & WATER CHANNEL. VARIOUS ATTEMPTS ARE MADE TO CAMOUFLAGE.
DEDICATED SPACES- CENTRES ALSO NEED SPACES DEDICATED TO CERTAIN ACTIVITIES. EG. FOR USING COMPUTERS, STUDYING, HOLDING MEETINGS AND LEARNING SPECIALIST SKILLS. OUTDOOR SPACES ARE A PRIORITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, PROVIDING ALTERNATIVE AREAS FOR PERFORMANCE, SPORTS AND SOCIALISING. FLEXIBLE SPACES: HAVING MULTIFUNCTIONAL AREAS CAN HELP OVERCOME SPACE AND BUDGET RESTRICTIONS.
1) IN THE ELEVAION, HYPERBOLLOID COLUMNS, RESEMBLES TREES.
“Circulation: movement through space” IN PARTICULAR, CIRCULATION ROUTES ARE THE PATHWAYS PEOPLE TAKE THROUGH AND AROUND BUILDINGS OR URBAN PLACES. CIRCULATION IS OFTEN THOUGHT OF AS THE 'SPACE BETWEEN THE SPACES', HAVING A CONNECTIVE FUNCTION, BUT IT CAN BE MUCH MORE THAN THAT. IT IS THE CONCEPT THAT CAPTURES THE EXPERIENCE OF MOVING OUR BODIES AROUND A BUILDING, THREE-DIMENSIONALLY AND THROUGH TIME.
2) THE CANOPY RESEMBLES SNAIL SHELL, IT SHADES & PROTECTS THE OAT BENEATH
3) JUST FORM OF STRUCTURES WILL NOT SUFFICE THE ESSENCE OF CAMOUFLAGE, USE OF MATERIALS IS EQUALLY IMPORTANT. LOAD BEARING BRICK WALL WITH THERMAL MASS AND LIGHT WEIGHT WOOD IS USED AS 2 MAJOR MATERIALS.
WALKING IS A PLEASURE THAT ALSO IN NATURE IS A MEDITATION. BY CREATING MEANDERING PATHWATS NEXT TO WATER CHANNEL, A “ WALKING MEDITATION” PATHWAY IS CREATED, WITH ENOUGH PAUSAL SPACES TO CHERISH THE BEAUTY OF SURROUNDINGS.
4) KEPT ALL THE BUILT FORM ON THE GROUND TO REDUCE THE HEIGHT OF STRUCTURE THUS, FOLLOWING THE CONCEPT AND HIDING THE BUILT MASSES IN BETWEEN THE SURROUNDINGS.
MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION THE STRUCTURE IS SINGLE STOREY HIGH , THEREFORE THERE IS MUCH SCOPE WITH THE LOAD BEARING WALLS. WALLS ARE THICK (345 MM) AND THUS HELPS IN MAINTAINING A THERMAL COMFORT INSIDE THE BUILT MASS. A LIGHT WEIGHT WOODEN INTERLOCKING ROOF IS A LONG SPAN ROOF STRUCTURE AND IT TRANSFERS LOAD THROUGH ITS SURFACES. THERE FORE LESS LOAD ON WALLS AS WELL AS THE
CONCEPT
COFFERED OPENINGS COULD BE USED TO INSTALL SKYLIGHTS FOR DAYLIGHTING.

5) THE CURVED LINES ARE DERIVED FROM NATURE AND ORGANIC FORMS. FROM MEANDERING RIVERS, HANGING CREEPERS AND CATENARY CURVES. THESE CURVES ARE CARRIED AWAY FROM PLAN TO ELEVATION AS WELL AS IN CLADDING OF INTERIOR WALLS, WITH PARAMETRIC PANELS.
