WELCOME: Greetings from the Atlanta Mayor

GREETINGS FROM THE mayor

Greetings:

As the 61st Mayor of Atlanta, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the A!

Atlanta is the LGBTQ capital of the South, the epicenter of culture, and the cradle of the Civil Rights Movement. In this city, we know two things: Atlanta influences everything and Atlanta includes everybody. We proudly host the largest Black Pride weekend in the world, and welcome international visitors for Atlanta Pride weekend, coinciding with National Coming Out Day.

Since 2013, Atlanta has maintained a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index, which examines how inclusive municipal laws, policies, and services are for LGBTQ people who live and work here. We are the only city in the South to have a Mayor’s Division of LGBTQ Affairs. As Mayor, our administration works every day to ensure that our city remains inclusive for all of our residents, workers, and visitors — including the LGBTQ community.

During your stay, I encourage you to visit unique and charming attractions, including the National Center for Civil & Human Rights, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Center, Piedmont Park, Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Westside Park, Atlanta BeltLine, Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks, Colony Square, and much more.

On behalf of the people of Atlanta, I welcome you to Atlanta and extend best wishes for a memorable trip.

Sincerely,
