POSE II All I can say is we did not deserve what happened to us. Somebody should have warned us. Someone should have said something.
It wasnt until 1990 that people started talking about safe sex smh
https://www.nlm.nih.gov/exhibition/visualculture/hivaids24.html.
10 years for a safer sex ad to appear? a decade? took way too long. Generation X was right dab smack in the middle, most vulnerable, just coming of age. They knew right away it was a STD why on earth did it take 10 years for them to share this news? It is one of the darkest times in our hx. I am glad our story is finally being told the way it really happened. Pose Ryan Murphy TV Series is one of the greatest storytellers of our time. I know he will tell our story honestly the way it really happened♼ There was this below, a manual. What 16yo kid is gonna read a manual to have sex? This is exactly how we were given the brunt of this sheet. As a person who was there I can tell you none of us heard about this until someone on tv said put on a condom. We never received pamphlet nor anyone I know ever received it either. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Have_Sex_in_an_Epidemic
Effects Although MSM showed a wide range of responses to the epidemic in terms of sexual practices—some became celibate, others became monogamous, and many made no changes whatsoever[20][21] --, behavioral studies showed "dramatic declines" in riskrelated sexual behavior in white gay men,[22] as well as increased frequency in condom use (from 1% in 1981 to 70% in 1987),[23] and the impetus for this change, particularly the increase in condom use, has been partially attributed to sex-positive educational materials like How to Have Sex in an Epidemic.[24] The increasing practice of safe sex is reflected in HIV transmission statistics, which show a peak of new infection rates from between 1983–85, followed by a significant decrease in the following years.[25][26] It must be noted these trends were primarily seen in white MSM: infection rates in Black and Latino MSM continued to rise or stayed static in the later half of the 1980s.[21] Gay rights activist and writer Jeffrey Escoffier summarizes the impact of this grassroots safe sex advocacy:[13] safer sex fairly quickly replaced 'easy sex' as the primary framework within which gay men conducted their sex lives. By and large, changes in gay sexual behavior originated in the dissemination of the safer sex framework within the community. Even before mainstream, government-regulated condom campaigns became common in New York City (in the 1990s),[27] the LGBT community began promoting condom use among its members to protect from AIDS. France recounts watching "a team of lesbians on a flatbed truck lovingly hurl the things [condoms] into the air like rose petals over the heads of their gay brothers" on Christopher Street.[5] Condoms rose in popularity "as fast as Madonna's debut album" and it soon became common to see "Hudson River white fish"—i.e., used condoms floating in the river—in popular cruising spots for MSM.[5] Condom sales spikes in the mid 80s (20% between 1986-1987)[28] and companies began producing them in varying sizes, colors, and flavors and expanding their advertisements to appeal to gay men, among other demographics.[5][29] Due to the awakening to safe sex in the LGBT community, condom use in San Francisco MSM between 1983 and 1987 quadrupled,[5] and as a result, rectal gonorrhea diagnoses dropped significantly, up to 80% between `83 and `86 in a cohort of New York City primarily white MSM.[22] Despite the lack of concrete statistics about the sexual practices of queer men in the 1980s, David France estimates that tens of thousands of lives were saved by the safe sex movement.[5]

What I remember most about all this was a talk and/or talks I forget w who or whom. It went a bit like beesh he says the condom dont feel good hes allergic or some sheet. The best one was if you love me you would show me and not use a condom. We actually had classes where all these scenarios played out. I dont care if you have to go out in the middle of the night to go and buy a condom you do not F him. That is how it was that is what was drilled into us. It was this thing that was ingrained in us.
Why are 40k people in nyc still yearly getting exposed to hiv in '19? Because noone is having these conversations anymore. They do not have the necessary tools need to engage in safer sex. They can take a pill for the rest of their lives PREP. I guess that is a solution? Maybe it is maybe it isnt. All I know is the numbers do not make sense. Someone is making the same mistake they have always made and nobody is noticing. My biggest problem w PREP is that anyone can say I take PREP. and there is no way to confirm it. Again I do not know how people are still getting exposed all I know not much has changed. You cannot go back in time and change what happened. All I am saying is that people need to stop lying about what happened. What happened with you was not what happened w us. It really wasnt. And I am glad our story is finally being told. We were not MEN we were young adolescents. We were innocent. And what happened to us should have never happened and it did. You want to know how old I was when I had my 1st beer in a bar 14yo. Yup 14yo. A beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. That is how my story began. On paper I should not have even been here today and I am by the grace of god♼ I hope Pose FX runs as long as American Horror Story I hope everything about what happened gets told. We were just lil kids living in a grown up world. It was the PERFECT recipe for disaster smh. I hope generations to come learn from our story. I hope generations to come do better than we did and build off of what happened to us and what we were able to accomplish against all the odds stacked against us♼

1/2m people of 1m living w/ hiv are black. Overview Today, there are more than 1.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S., including 471,500 who are Black.11,12 Although Black Americans represent only 12% of the U.S. population, they accounted for 43% of new HIV diagnoses in 2016 (see Figure 1) and an estimated 43% of people living with HIV. The rate of new HIV diagnoses per 100,000 among Black adults/adolescents (43.6) was 8 times that of whites (5.2) and more than twice that of Latinos (17.0) in 2016 (see Figure 2). The rate for Black men (82.8) was the highest of any group, more than twice that of Latino men (38.8), the second highest group. Black women (26.2) had the highest rate among women.
https://www.kff.org/hivaids/fact-sheet
Although African Americans represent 13% of the U.S. population, they account for 44% of HIV infection cases in 2016. African American males have 8.6 times the AIDS rate as white males. African American females have 18.6 times the AIDS rate as white females. African American men are almost 6 times as likely to die from HIV/AIDS as non-Hispanic white men. African American women are almost 18 times as likely to die from HIV/AIDS as non-Hispanic white women. In 2016, African Americans were 8.4 times more likely to be diagnosed with HIV infection, as compared to the white population. https://minorityhealth.hhs.gov
