This Issue Is Dedicated To All The People We Have Been and Will Be In Our Lifetimes. This Issue Is Dedicated To Simply You.

Wherever you go, there you are. Jon Kabbat-Zinn If you are losing a tug-of-war with a tiger, give him the rope before he gets to your arm. You can always buy a new rope. Max Gunther It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up. Vince Lombardi Patience is a Virtue. Prudentius I invented my life by taking for granted that everything I did not like would have an opposite, which I would like. Coco Chanel

Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose – not the one you began with perhaps, but one you’ll be glad to remember. Anne Sullivan Those who stand for nothing, fall for anything. Alexander Hamilton There are some things one can only achieve by a deliberate leap in the opposite direction. Franz Kafka You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. Abraham Lincoln

You can calculate the worth of a man by the number of his enemies, and the importance of a work of art by the harm that is spoken of it. Gustave Flaubert

It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. Herman Melville

Be in competition, only with yourself. Sandy Linter

To underestimate one's thirst, to pass a given landmark to the right or left, to find a dry spring where one looked for running water - there is no help for any of these things. Mary Hunter Austin

There's something advantageous about having people underestimate your intellect, insomuch as a lot of things are revealed to you. They assume you don't know what you're talking about, then all of a sudden, you do. And the next thing you know, you have information you wouldn't normally have. Ashton Kutcher

“GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT” “GIVE IT YOUR ALL, DON'T STOP”

hat an incredible season we are having. This season we made a conscious decision to create our very own barometer of excellence. We decided to set the standard by going above and beyond what was expected of us. The thing we hoped to accomplish most was to reach for our own Personal Best. When you begin to turn the FOCUS inward, silence all the noise and distractions around you, so much begins to become clear. One of our highlights this season was our ICONS series. We were so lucky to begin our ICONS series with the one and only Sandy Linter, Lancome's Beauty At Every Age Expert. Sandy, had so many amazing things to say and information to share with us. She has been doing make up for over 5 decades. What an amazing accomplishment. Our interview with Sandy Linter was definitely one of the highlights of the season for sure. One of the things we are realizing and learning from these industry giants is to appreciate where you are at this very moment in time. Many people get frustrated because they see themselves at a different station, they see themselves maybe more accomplished and doing bigger things than they are doing right now. Learning to accept and also enjoy your station in life has to be one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. You can learn to appreciate everything for what it is instead of what you wish it would be. There is something to be said about authenticity, about getting your feet wet, about building your craft.

In years to come you will look back and say this was me then. In that moment when you finally begin to realize that your accomplishments were yours and yours alone, you will begin to finally see just how brilliant and special that time of your life was and still is. We firmly believe . that life is a continuum. Everything you do is a step or a building block to the next thing. Do what you do with love and zest. Let the moments you are working engulf you. Allow yourself to be whisked away into the moment. Allow the splendor of it all to illuminate your passion. In life there are no absolutes, no promises, noone owes you anything. We learned early on, that if you are desirous and yearn for wonderful things entering your life, you must become a proactive participant in order for that to happen. In life nobody gets everything the want, let's face it. If you get 3 out of 10 things you want in your life you are already so fortunate. Keep on building and working til you have all 10.

T

urning our views inwards this season has been so key for us to continue to do what we love to do, which is to continue to challenge ourselves to create our best possible work. Every day you are reminded of just how much competition there is out there. If we allow self-doubt to enter your stream of consciousness for longer than a second it can truly make you begin to question your abilities. It is so easy, almost an escape really to FOCUS on other things and other people. FOCUSing on yourself is one of the best things you can possibly do for yourself. We all have wonderful gifts and abilities. When we look outside of ourselves and begin to compare and contrast ourselves with others, we begin to lessen our own self-worth. We depreciate our own intrinsic value.

This issue is dedicated to all the people you will be in your lifetime. Who you are and your views on life will change as time progresses, if you are lucky enough to be open to change. Being able to be a teacher as well as a student. will be one of the best of dualites you will ever be able to possess. When it is said that it is never too late to learn, that is absolutely right. Every day we afforded a new chance to change, to learn, to grow, to teach. We always talk about the two paths people can take. One path is the wrong path. The wrong path tends to feel really good at the time, it fills all of your short term needs and it does it so quickly. It is exhilarating, it even can be an adrenaline rush of sorts, if you seek it out often enough. The reason why this path tends to be the wrong path is because it only FOCUSes on the now. It FOCUSes on current wants and needs. What this path fails to incorporate into its grand scheme is the future. Unless you are planning to either have a very short career, the future is a very important thing to consider and think about. The road less traveled, the road we call the slow road, takes a bit longer for things to happen. There is not a constant audience yelling your name, there is no fanfare. The work is done quietly and then it is on to the next job. On this road people learn a bit more about themselves. They learn about what makes them tick as thinking, feeling, and creating human beings. We have seen so many people take wrong turns, come up against roadblocks and just plain burn out on this journey of exploration and self fulfillment. Ego plays a big role also on what road you choose to follow. It takes a great amount of maturity and even strength to walk the highway without the traffic. The highway that only a stray vehicle

appears on from time to time. It is the people who are not necessarily chasing stardom that find it. We all are in this business because something about it speaks to us. To become successful in this business, again you must strip yourself of all ego. People with big egos have no time to . improve because all of their energies are FOCUSed on the facade of ego. Share of yourself, show your humanity, be a normal person who others can relate to. It is in showing our flaws, our shortcomings, our individuality that we share the most. Fanfare and busy highways may be or may not be all they are cracked up to be. Every individual must make their own choices in life. Whatever you choose, always remember, it is not what you do at this moment that matters. It is what will have an impact beyond this moment that matters. The road less traveled.

As WE MOVE IN TIGHTER ON the melted box, we begin to hear the rap song that we've hear throughout. All other sound drops as the rap song gets louder and louder until it's deafening. ANGLE--SMILEY Smiley sits up from where he hid during the burning and looting of Sal's Famous Pizzeria. Smiley looks around and goes directly to the smoldering Wall of Fame. He stands there. Smiley pins one of his Malcolm X/Martin Luther King, Jr., cards to the Wall of Fame. CLOSE--PHOTO CLOSE--SMILEY We're on Smiley's face and a smile slowly travels across. It's the first time Smiley has smiled in years and nobody is there to see this event. FADE TO BLACK
