The Art of Driving

The Art of Driving Many are curious to learn about the work of, say, a top manager of Iveco, but this is information of a cognitive nature that has no applied value. It's another matter if you come across the topic of trucks directly, every day driving a small car. When huge trucks are driving nearby, capable of accidentally running over a couple of such cars, then such a neighborhood delivers few pleasant moments, especially if you know almost nothing about these neighbors. I will try to fill this gap with some information. Let it be slightly specific and beyond the scope of traffic rules, but I think it will be useful for understanding some of the nuances. Also, probably many are interested in how and where professional truck drivers are trained, how they pass special tests, like cdl test, without which they are not allowed to drive, but this is another story, which we can talk about later.

When I first got behind the wheel of a relatively large truck, it seemed to me that it was wider than the entire roadway along with the shoulders. I didn’t let go of the desire to steer into the middle of the road so that the right wheels would finally go on the asphalt. It is clear that it takes practice to get used to the dimensions and feel the car; the problem is that all this addiction takes place in real traffic conditions with live people and real cars. Pilots train on simulators, sappers learn to work on dummies, only a driver in a multi-ton clumsy barn with a bunch of wheels is forced to acquire skills without the right to make mistakes.

Maneuvering with a trailer, even in reverse, is not such a great art. You push the cart every day - you will inevitably learn. Much more surprising, in my opinion, is how you can type faster than others talk, without looking at the keyboard and without making mistakes. J Apparently, here too many years of practice is not in the last place. Many large car companies regularly hold “professional skill contests, with television and a bunch of bosses.
