Cloisonné is an ancient, time consuming art that was introduced to China by western travelers in the 14th century. To begin the process, highly trained artisans bend wire strips by hand to create the patterns within the design. These wires are then soldered onto a copper form that has been carefully molded to create the desired shape of the ornament. Each cell is inlaid with enamels, then fired at very high temperatures repeatedly, then eventually cooled, polished, and 24k gold plated to create this work of art for you and your family to enjoy for years to come. Split Twig Earrings

Some of the most fascinating artifacts found at Grand Canyon are split-twig figurines. These figurines date from 2,000 to 4,000 years ago and were found in remote caves. Each one is made from a single twig, often willow, split down the middle, and then carefully folded into animal shapes. Handmade by Jimmy Jensen, member of the Navajo Nation. Watchtower Metal Bookmark

This metal bookmark features an image from Gunnar Widforss. Widforss painted this picture of the Watchtower in 1933 and it was produced by the Fred Harvey Company as part of a postcard packet using a painted photograph. The Desert View Watchtower is a 70 foot tower, on the east end of the park, that has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark. It was constructed in 1932 by Mary Colter.
