Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys Reading and Discussion Series In May 2013, the National Endowment for the

Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA) selected 125 libraries to participate in a five-‐part scholar-‐led reading and discussion program. Georgia College Library was selected to participate in the project, which seeks to familiarize public audiences in the United States with the people, places, history, faith and cultures of Muslims in the U.S. and around the world. The Muslim Journeys theme that GC Library has chosen to explore is Points of View. All programs are held in the Anne Moore Children's Theatre at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library. So far, two events have taken place discussing In the Country of Men and Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood. Three more book discussions will take place next semester: House of Stone -‐ January 13, 2014 Broken Verses -‐ February 24, 2013 Dreams of Trespass -‐ April 7, 2014 Everyone is welcome to join the series at anytime!

South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers Georgia College is one of nine universities and art agencies that received a grant to host six independent filmmakers and screen their films. These films are shown once a month, on a Sunday at 3 PM in A&S Auditorium. After the screening, a reception will be held with the filmmaker in the Library Atrium. Each film carries a unique and poignant message, while also providing a fun, educational experience.

So far, three filmmakers have visited Georgia College to share their experience making movies and screen their films. Three more screenings are scheduled for the Spring semester.
