A local biohazard/crime scene cleanup and decontamination company that cleans up what most people won’t and shouldn’t.
5 Alan and Melissa Cohen, Owners of Bio SoCal
ALAN AND MELISSA COHEN, THE OWNERS OF BIO SOCAL, BOTH GREW UP IN IN THE CONEJO VALLEY AND MET IN THE SIXTH GRADE AT LINDERO CANYON MIDDLE SCHOOL.
They went on to attend Agoura High School before beginning their corporate careers. Alan, having been a strategic corporate development and marketing executive for retail giants Best Buy and Guitar Center, decided that after creating new business opportunities for large corporations, it was time to do it for himself and his family while truly helping others. Alan and Melissa found their opportunity in biohazard/ crime scene cleanup.
Bio SoCal, based in Westlake Village with a second location in Palm Springs, is often the first call a property manager, home or business owner makes after the authorities complete their investigation following an unexpected and traumatic accident, death, suicide or crime scene. The company also provides services to clean out hoarded homes, scenes contaminated with tear gas, as well as decontamination of infectious diseases including C. Diff and MRSA. With compassion and care, Alan answers the phone 24/7/365 to help survivor’s family members and friends take the first step to
recovery after a tragic event by cleaning up the biohazards for both physical and emotional safety. Bio SoCal is licensed by the California Department of Public Health, is IICRC Certified in Crime and Trauma Scene Cleaning, and is often called upon by local, state and federal agencies for biohazard cleanup.
For Alan and his crew, crime scene cleanup is not an easy task physically or emotionally. Last November, Bio SoCal was the crime scene cleanup company contracted for the biohazard remediation and decontamination of the Borderline Bar and Grill — by far the most emotionally challenging job the company has taken on as an unimaginable tragedy happened in their own hometown. Though all jobs are difficult and approached with care, the Borderline cleanup was like no other.
Alan and Melissa truly care about the Conejo Valley and are proud to own and operate a business dedicated to helping their community during what is often one of the most difficult times in people’s lives. It is not easy, nor is it a job most people desire, but both Alan and Melissa Cohen take pride in knowing that after a difficult and traumatic event, Bio SoCal will be there to assist people to begin the process of recovery and the restoration of their property.
Although we hope you never need our services we are available 24/7/365 in the event that you do.

THE ORIGINAL PIZZA COOKERY
(and their garlic rolls!)
RELOCATE TO THOUSAND OAKS
By: Sara Colón
THE ORIGINAL PIZZA COOKERY HAS BEEN PROVIDING A TOP QUALITY, FAMILY STYLE DINING EXPERIENCE SINCE 1975. In addition to being a local favorite, The Original Pizza Cookery has won the Daily News – Readers’ Choice Best Restaurant for 10 years in a row. The restaurant got its start after Jordan Klempner, owner and founder, returned from the Vietnam War where he served as a U.S. Army Lieutenant. After selling his first home, Jordan used the profits to open the doors of his very own pizza restaurant. With the help of his wife, Barbara and Jordan’s father, The Original Pizza Cookery has been serving the community for 44 wonderful years.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very nostalgic and inviting, with relics dating back to the 70s, including signage and trinkets that tie into a modern space. Described as intimate and like walking into a living room, customers can enjoy private and cozy booth spaces, as well as spacious tables. The enclosed courtyard and waiting area in the front is where customers can expect an open area with games and rustic patio furniture. The number one desire for the restaurant is to appeal to everyone and make them feel at home.
While they are known for their “New York Style” pizza, The Original Pizza Cookery’s menu has many culinary offerings. Some of their entrees include Fettucine Alfredo, Eggplant Parmesan, and their Sausage and Peppers sandwich. Breaded Mushrooms and Mozzarella Sticks are just a couple of starter options, but their specialty is homemade garlic rolls. The in-house butter, served with the delicious garlic rolls, is whipped for four hours for the creamiest and lightest texture. Every ingredient from the cheese, sauce, and dough is made in house. With an all-inclusive menu, featuring gluten free and vegan options, there is something for everyone. If your palate guides you to new experiences, fear not thirsty friends, the full bar features local spirits.
Whether you want to grab a quick bite to eat, or need someone to cater your next
big event, The Original Pizza Cookery will provide you with a perfectly curated experience, from start to finish. Their mission statement is to ensure that all of their customers leave with smiles on their faces. With its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and top-notch cuisine, this historic restaurant is a staple in the community.
The Original Pizza Cookery’s hours are Monday – Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday – Saturday 11am-10:30pm, and Sunday 12pm-9pm. To find more information, visit www.pizzacookery.com.
