Acoustic Air Transfer Grilles Description
For air transfer applications, the channel section core with integral noise absorption material provides an effective solution when transfer ventilation is required but noise transmission through the grille needs to be reduced.
Construction
From extruded aluminium sections with Pyrosorb acoustic infill to all blades. Screw holes in the flanges are provided as standard as there is no access through the grille to facilitate secret fixing.
Size and Weight
From 150 x 150 to 900 x 600. Single bank grilles type ATG00 will suit door or wall thicknesses from 44mm to 55mm. Double bank grilles type ATG20 will suit wall thicknesses above 110mm. For wall thicknesses between 55mm and 110mm, specify the ATG30 type.

Computer Room Floor Grilles Description
For supply or extract applications, the grilles are designed to integrate with the most popular raised access floor systems. Available in both Light and Extra Heavy duty grades to BS-EN 13264:2001.
Construction
Manufactured from heavy gauge aluminium extrusions, the frames are of fully welded construction. Extra heavy duty versions incorporate rear reinforcement mullions to maintain full structural integrity. The grille core is constructed from extruded aluminium bars with a face thickness of 6mm, and is welded into the retaining frame. The frame profile is designed to sit directly in contact with the floor pedestal earth terminal, removing the need for additional earth bonding connections and their associated expense.
Certification
Independently tested by the University of Salford, the R77 exceeds the requirements of BS-EN 13264:2001 for extra heavy duty applications.
Size and Weight
600 x 600 tile module size as standard, though other sizes are available on request. Light duty grille 8.5 kg Extra heavy duty grille 14.0kg Optional OBD 2.0kg

This diffuser utilises high induction airflow principles which ensure that the supply air velocity rapidly decreases to within 0.25 m/s just 0.5 metre from the diffuser. As such the usual air throw pattern typical of a standard slot diffuser does not apply and therfore is not shown.

Displacement Diffusers Description
GDL’s range of high quality displacement diffusers are designed to introduce cool clean air into the occupied zone at low level. By introducing air at low level and at low velocity, the air ‘pools’ at floor level rather than mixing with the room air. As the room air is warmer than the incoming air it is displaced to high level where it can be extracted, thus creating a layer of cool clean fresh air at occupancy level.
Construction
Manufactured from perforated mild steel sheet with mild steel capping and plinth. The units are polyester powder coated to RAL9010 white as standard, other colours are available on request. Stainless steel construction is available as an option, these will usually be manufactured in grade 304 Stainless and finished to a dull polish. All units can be reinforced for use in areas where a more robust diffuser is required. Duct covers can be provided when required.
Size
A large selection of shapes and sizes are available, including square, round, half round and bow front, as well as column surrounds. We can also manufacture bespoke units to suit your application. Please contact our sales office to discuss your size and shape requirements.

Technical Data 50mm Single Bank Weather Louvres i) Data is based upon louvres fitted with a rear bird guard / debris screen. With an insect screen fitted the free area will be reduced by approximately 15%. ii) To minimise the risk of rain ingress, intake louvres should be selected against a max face velocity of 1.5M/s. iii) Pressure drops are total, given in Pascals, and based on air density of 1.2Kg/M3. iv) NC ratings shown are given for general guidance only.
Selection Procedure a)
Air Volume (M3/s) = Louvre Face Area (M2) Face Velocity (M/s) b) Determine the air volume flow rate required to pass through the louvre (M3/s). c) Determine the maximum acceptable pressure drop (pa). d) From the adjacent chart look up face velocity (M/s) against maximum pressure drop. e) Divide air volume by face velocity to give required louvre face area.
Selection Example
a) Size a W5 (50mm blade pitch) louvre to intake 2.0M3/s at 40 Pascals total pressure. b) At 40 Pa, a ‘Face Velocity’ of 2.0M/s is given in the adjacent pressure drop graph; thus apply the formula as follows: 2.0 Air Volume (M3/s) = 1.0M2 Louvre Face Area 2.0 Face Velocity (M/s)
c) Select a square or rectangular size to give the above face area, e.g. 1100w. x 900h.
Louvre Screening 50mm & 75mm louvres can be manufactured to form visual screening enclosures for applications such as roof top plant installations or bin store compounds. Depending on the size and application the screen can be either fixed back to an existing building structure, or providing a suitable base is available, a steel support framework can be offered to provide a free standing enclosure. Doors can be incorporated where access is required to a fully enclosed area.Other options include acoustic blanking, special shapes, openings for ductwork penetrations etc. Louvre screening is supplied in multiple site assembled panels therefore there are virtually no size or shape constraints. Contact GDL technical sales to discuss specific applications.

Technical Data Turret / Penthouse Louvres i) Data is based upon louvres fitted with a rear bird guard / debris screen. With an insect screen fitted the free area will be reduced by approximately 15%. ii) Low, wide turret louvres perform more efficiently and offer better weather protection than tall narrow units. iii) To minimise the risk of rain ingress, intake louvres should be selected against a max face velocity of 1.5M/s. iv) Pressure drops are total, given in Pascals, and based on air density of 1.2Kg/M3. v) NC ratings shown are given for general guidance only.
Selection Procedure a)
Air Volume (M3/s) Multiply x 1.2 = Nominal Louvre Area (M2) Face Velocity (M/s) b) Determine the air volume flow rate required to pass through the louvre (M3/s). c) Determine the maximum acceptable pressure drop (pa). d) From the adjacent chart look up face velocity (M/s) against maximum pressure drop. e) Divide air volume by face velocity & multiply x 1.2 to give required nominal louvre area.
Selection Example
a) Size a 5WT1M Turret louvre to intake 6.0M3/s at the recommended face velocity of 1.5M/s. b) Determine the pressure drop from the adjacent chart. At 1.5M/s a pressure drop of 21pa is given. b) Apply the formula as follows: 6.0 Air Volume (M3/s) 4 x 1.2 = 4.8M2 Nominal Louvre Area 1.5 Face Velocity (M/s) c) Select a square or rectangular base size and calculate an appropriate height to give the above nominal louvre area; e.g. 1500 x 1500 x 800 H. A range of sizes is given in the table below for general guidance. In between sizes and larger sized units than shown are also available.

Fire / Smoke Control Dampers Description
Our range of fire and smoke dampers are designed to stop the spread of both fire and smoke thorough ductwork, walls, floors and ceilings. All fire/smoke dampers are tested and conform to the standards listed on page 164. All are suitable to work in conjuction with the BMS system and suitable damper control panel.
Function
The fire and smoke damper will be held in the fully open position for as long as the power supply is maintained to the unit. In the event of a fire, the built in thermal fuse will trip and cut off the electrical supply to the motor, causing the built in return spring to drive the damper closed. The thermal fuse consists of a duct mounted probe with a replaceable fuse to detect internal duct temperature, and a non replaceable fuse element which detects ambient room temperature. Both fuses are rated at 72oc. A test button is included in the fuse unit for local testing of the damper operation. Please note that where the dampers are for smoke evacuation purposes and are required to fail open, they wil not be fitted with thermal fuses.
Construction
The casing is manufactured from 1.2mm galvanised mild steel whilst the blades are double skin airfoil sections from 0.7mm galvanised mild steel or from 0.7mm stainless steel grade 430 or 316 optional.
Size
From 100 x 100 to 1000 x 1000 and from 100mm to 1000mm Ă˜.

It Is increasingly important for buildings to run effectively and sustainably with low energy consumption and operating costs, yet maintain the required aesthetic design. Our Intelishade range meets all the crucial requirements necessary for an aesthetically pleasing low carbon solution.
Description
The Horizontal Solar Shading System provides excellent shading during the summer months primarily on the south elevations where the higher sun angles are blocked reducing both glare and solar heat gain.
Construction
Support frame manufactured from extruded aluminium in either a polyester powder finish or anodised finish. Alternative support systems can be provided in polished or brushed stainless steel to cater for variation in loads and environmental conditions. Traditional single skinned either extruded or fabricated blades have a lighter feel to them but as a consequence are less rigid. The reduction of rigidity makes them more applicable to short spans between supports (generally spans up to 1200mm).
T. 01457 861 538
Horizontal Solar Shading Systems
Primarily used for Southern elevations to protect against high sun angles. Side arms or in most cases referred to as side ‘cassettes’ are an integral part of the feature of the system. The cassettes come in various profiles to suit the requirements of the architects and engineers. The side arms are usually made from 6 -10mm thick aluminium finished to the client’s specification. Additional diagonal support arms are required for larger projections and higher wind loadings. Support arms are available in either powder coated aluminium or stainless steel.

Natural Ventilation - Intelivent Range Natural Ventilation
Our Intelivent natural ventilation products are a part of our ‘Inteligent Solutions’ range that offer low carbon, innovative alternatives powered purely using natural energy sources. The fundamental difference between more commonly used mechanical ventilation and natural ventilation is the use of encapsulated wind power to fully ventilate the building. Our Intelivent range of Natural Ventilation solutions significantly lowers energy consumption, operating and maintenance costs within buildings. The Intelivent range includes a choice of natural ventilation solutions that harness both wind and solar power to ventilate the buildings.
The Intelivent Range
Our natural ventilation range consists of three primary devises the ‘Wall Unit’, the ‘Penthouse Turret’ and the ‘Solarstore’. All the components within the range work together or as stand alone products depending on the height and layout of the building. Our Intelivent systems are ideally suited for both commercial and educational buildings. The concept of the system is to create a stack effect through the space and to control the incoming air temperature via the wall mounted heating element. The systems are preferably controlled by wireless CO2 and temperature sensors providing user friendly controls. The systems can be connected to any existing BMS or internet system.
