The Junior School at Croydon High
Our girls never cease to impress with their enthusiasm and individuality. At Croydon High Juniors we strive to support each girl, as they become the very best version of themselves. There is no set formula for their interests and passions, just an expectation that they approach learning opportunities with commitment and curiosity. It’s about...

They’re so happy there ~ and that’s all I ever wanted. JUNIOR PARENT (GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE 2017)
Our girls are bursting with potential and it is a privilege to help them to explore and develop. We know that attributes such as confidence and resilience, together with skills in presentation and reasoning, will be as important as academic qualifications for the girls future success. They will not succeed 100% of the time, but what they learn from every experience will help prepare them for the competitive nature of university applications, graduate entry schemes and taking professional risks when opportunities arise. Visitors often comment on how relaxed and confident the girls are in their school environment. This is the most important element of what we do. Happy girls who are comfortable to talk about their work, their ideas and their concerns will be best placed to learn. Why not come and visit us, meet some of our remarkable girls and let them tell you more about why they love their school?

Little girl, big dreams.
Junior School is your daughter’s first step on the road to future success and we are committed to making sure she makes the best possible start. We want to instil in her the confidence to believe she can do anything, in a learning environment where she will be stretched and supported every step of the way.

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. ARISTOTLE
Your daughter’s journey of self-discovery is the foundation of her learning. Only when girls have a clear sense of personal identity, understanding their strengths and their character, can they embrace new experiences with true confidence. We value every one of our girls as an individual, celebrating her unique talents and aspirations. As an expert in the education of girls, with over 140 years of experience, we understand the importance of setting high expectations from the very beginning. At every stage, girls are encouraged to stretch themselves beyond age expectations and the curriculum is structured to teach even our youngest girls that there is no ‘glass ceiling’.

Your view is infinitely precious. It doesn’t have to conform to anyone else’s ideals. Let it be your own. YEAR 6 GIRL SPEAKING ABOUT INDEPENDENT LEARNING IN THE JUNIOR SCHOOL
Creativity in all forms is encouraged right from the beginning. Specialist teaching in Music, Drama, Sport and Computing begins in Nursery.
Innovation Foundation Nesta report that the UK needs 1 million new creative jobs by 2030, when our Junior girls will be approaching higher education and employment. Creative role models in all subjects are explored as an inspiration for the girls’ own work. In Year 5, girls analyse Beethoven’s Ode to Joy before composing their own variations independently. In Year 2 girls design and code their own animation. In all subjects and year groups girls are given the opportunity to make decisions about how to approach tasks and present their work. Our girls constantly amaze us with the enthusiasm, imagination and creativity they bring to every school day.
