“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

“still have that “dream” vehicle in our heads “ our heads. As a kid

Welcome to October gearheads...bet you didn't that coming this fast! Heck it was just May and the car show and cruise-in season was cranking up. Here it is fall and depending on where you live in the good old USof A, your show and cruise season is winding down or has wound down altogether.

in school we doodled it on your paper on our desk while the teacher was trying to teach us what we need for life. We knew what we needed...that cool car! Fast forward to adult life and most if not all of us still have that “dream” vehicle in our heads that we want to build, buy or have. Some of us have had the one and are dreaming about the 2nd or third one depending on our situations.

Speaking of time flying past us, in my opinion, time is the most precious commodity any of us have, and we truly don’t know how much we really have, as we aren’t in control of that. As a good friend once told me while I laid in a hospital bed, “Life is short Jim. You don’t control when you’re born and you don’t control when you die, so you better have fun in between!” Truer words were never spoken, at least in my mind. I think about that everyday.

What’s keeping you from making it happen? Yes $$ is always a factor, but you can start somewhere. Get out and start collecting the parts and pieces you will need. The sooner you start, the sooner your dream vehicle will be in your garage...right? RIGHT! Time is the other issue you face. The longer you wait, the less time you will have to enjoy that cool car, truck or whatever kind of cruiser you want

Elsewhere in this issue, we have a cool story/feature about one person’s dream coming true. More importantly, instead of waiting and putting off the dream, he went out and made it happen.

Keep the dream alive, go make it happen today...

Jimmy B.

We all have that dream vehicle in 5

“the fun starts here”….

When the model year on Chevrolet trucks turns to 2018, it will represent the company's 100th year of making trucks. The branch of General Motors will celebrate the accomplishment with a 100-day celebration of history lessons, a new "Chevy Truck Legends" program, collectible items and much more. Chevy kicked off its centennial celebration at a special event Thursday, Sept. 28 at Texas Motor Speedway.

branded as Silverados. The trucks are due out in late 2018, according to a news release. “We are earning new business because we have more solutions to help businesses grow,” John Schwegman, U.S. head of commercial products, said in the release. “The Silverado 4500 and 5500 will stand out because we’ve designed the trucks around how customers work. Both the class four and five Silverados will come available in regular and crew cab, and in 4x2 and 4x4 capabilities. All will come with Duramax diesel engines and Allison transmissions. The Truck Legends program is "an exclusive community for those who have made Chevrolet Trucks some of the most iconic vehicles in America," a news release from the automaker reads.

Chevrolet first hit the truck market in 1918 with the half-ton Light Delivery and the OneTon truck pictured above. The 1918 Chevy One-Ton truck had a four-cylinder engine that made 36 horsepower and hit top speeds of 25 mph. "Both were offered with an open chassis behind the windshield that allowed customers to choose between purchasing or building a specialized body for their vocation," the automaker says.

The program originally launched in September 2016 and has more than 5,400 qualifying members. To qualify for the program. those interested need to have more than 100,000 miles on a purchased or leased new Chevy truck in their lifetime. Members are invited to its centennial celebration in December at Texas Motor Speedway, receive exclusive memorabilia, dealer benefits and chances at front-row concert and sporting event seats.

Included in the 100-day celebration kickoff, Chevy announced that all of its mediumduty class 4500 and 5500 trucks will be 6

Rep. Wilson Stone, of Scottsville, mentioned the company’s strong reputation throughout the auto industry.

Holley Performance Products Inc. will establish a $9.15 million facility in Franklin, Kentucky, creating 30 full-time jobs, according to Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin.

“Holley Performance Products has long stood for excellence and has been a great corporate partner in the region for many years,” Rep. Stone said. “It means a lot to have it invest these millions of dollars in Franklin and to create these jobs. This is truly wonderful news.”

“We are excited to see the economic impact of Holley Performance Products’ newest operation,” Bevin said. “Holley is a storied name in the American tradition of hotrods, drag racing, muscle cars and stock-car racing, and will be a great addition to Kentucky’s burgeoning automotive industry. Our administration, along with the Franklin community, are thrilled to welcome the additional jobs and investment Holley is bringing to the Commonwealth.”

Franklin Mayor Ronnie Clark said the new arrival will have a positive impact on the local workforce.

Holley will locate a distribution operation in a leased, 200,000-square-foot building in Franklin, expected to open in early 2018. The operation will be about 20 miles from Holley’s corporate headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

“We are very pleased to have Holley Performance Products as a part of our community,” Clark said. “Holley is a nationally recognized name in the automotive industry and we are excited about their location in Franklin. Their new distribution facility will provide some excellent new jobs for our area. We certainly welcome them to Franklin.”

The new facility brings the company’s total Kentucky employment to approximately 330. Holley in 1952 located its carburetor manufacturing plant in Bowling Green and moved by its corporate headquarters in 1993.

Simpson County Judge-Executive Jim Henderson expressed gratitude for the investment. “I am really glad that Holley Performance Products has chosen Franklin and Simpson County for their distribution project,” Henderson said. “Holley will be locating in our Sanders Interstate Industrial Park and will be providing some 30 new jobs for our community. We greatly appreciate the jobs and the investment that Holley is bringing to Simpson County.”

“We’ve been introducing innovative new product solutions that have driven growth in our business to the point that we are out of space in our current Bowling Green facility. This new location in Franklin will allow us to free up much needed floor space for more manufacturing production activities,” said Terry Rutledge, Holley’s senior vice president of operations. 7

The Dream Car Story Shawn & Andy Ferguson & Jimmy B. / Photo’s—Jimmy B

All of us gearheads, at some point or another, have dreamed about a car or truck that we really love and would love to have. As youngsters growing up, those dreams were fueled by what we saw on the road cruising around. Whether you are an old timer who started hot rodding after “The War”, or a baby boomer, or whatever they call folks born after the baby boomers, it still holds true...we dream about what we would like to have. Thirty years later, Walt was running the local body shop in town. One day a man walks into the shop and asked Walt if he was interested in restoring a 1957 Chevy. The man had purchased the 1957 Chevy, that Walt had dreamed about, from the dealership that Walt worked at as a teenager. In the end, the owner decided not to restore the car at that time.

Sometimes, just sometimes dreams come true! In the summer of 1957, young Walt Johnsen was working at Bainbridge Motors (Bainbridge WA), a local Chevrolet dealership, when the car hauler pulled up to deliver the dealership some cars. On the top level was a Black and Ivory 1957 Chevrolet Sport Coupe. The car was a fuel injected car, something young Walt had never seen nor heard of before. After the car was unloaded and Walt got to look it over, he started dreaming of owning that car. The car was out of reach for a teenager with his first job, but Walt never stopped dreaming about that Ivory over Black ‘57 Sport Coupe.

Years later, after the man who purchased the ’57 Chevy had passed away, the man’s widow contacted Walt and asked if he was interested in purchasing the car. Walt couldn’t believe his luck as he was being given a chance to own the car he had dreamt about for so long. The car was completely intact, original sheet metal, original drive train, interior, chrome, just like it was on the trailer that day long ago. Walt did not hesitate and purchased his dream car. Walt took the time and completed a full restoration, to bring the ’57 back to how it looked on delivery day at Bainbridge Motors in 1957, and make sure it ran like a brand new car. 42

Andy told us that this ‘57 was exactly what he too would have ordered, if I could order one today, India Ivory over Onyx Black with a Fuel Injected 283/250 HP engine and 2 speed Power glide Transmission with Red/Black interior too. Andy says “The car took my breath as soon as I saw it across the room. The colors, the fit and finish, the whole vehicle and I too fell in love with this ’57 Sport Coupe, just as young Walt did in the summer of 1957. The deal was made and arrangements made, and that Dream Car ‘57 Chevy is now in Andy’s garage. Dream’s do come true...Andy’s did.

Enter Andy Ferguson from College Grove TN. Andy had a beautiful 1969 Camaro with a 396 under the hood, as it came from the factory, Andy had gone thru the Camaro and repainted factory Hugger Orange. Even though the Camaro was cool, it wasn’t the car Andy dreamed about. Andy told us, “I have always loved the 1957 Chevy’s. Like Walt, I too dreamed about owning one some day”.

Someday came for Andy as he discovered that Walt’s ’57 was for sale and decided a trip was in order to see this ’57 Chevy. Andy and his understanding wife Shawn loaded up the car and headed for Washington State...not a short drive from Middle TN! The ‘57 was stored in a private museum on a tiny island in Washington State. Getting to the ’57 required a ferry ride to the island, to meet Walt and to see the car.
