“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

When you hear those revving engines it’s music

I lifted this from Jerry Kennedy’s (NSRA) FB page and sharing it….

memories including your ride, cruising, music playing and in your own little world, going to meets or events and showing off your ride. You smell that smoke, rubber, and race fuel and you feel peace within yourself. When you hear those revving engines it's music to your ears. And all the great friends you make along the way….that's what this really about...hot rod people. Copy and paste this with a picture of your current ride or past projects if you’re a True Hot Rodder / Street Rodder

Being a Hot Rodder / Street Rodder is something that most people will never understand. It's not just a sport or something to do as a hobby. It’s a way of life. Once you're in it, it's in your blood. Once you make that first upgrade, you can’t stop. It’s all about you and your ride, moments and

Superformance to Debut ‘Future GT Forty’ Supercar at SEMA Show Superformance has built a one-of-a-kind GT40 MkI that pays tribute to the historic success of the Ford GT40, while incorporating design notes and the EcoBoost V-6 powerplant from the current Ford GT. The Future GT Forty race car will debut at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30 at the SEMA Show in the MagnaFlow booth, No. 23543. The vehicle launch will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the car’s first-place victory at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans, and pay tribute to the modern Ford GT.

PPG Promotes Adventure, Top Artists at SEMA Show PPG booth visitors during the Oct. 30-Nov. 2 SEMA Show are in for an adventure, according to the company. The PPG booth (No. 24601)—known for celebrating a different theme every year—will feature custom vehicles, distinctive artwork pieces and other surprises.

PPG will have more than 30 of the custom car world’s top artists participating in one fashion or another in its booth this year, according to the company. “Our goal is to always have fun with the booth and appeal to different customer senses,” said Cristina Fronzaglia-Murray, PPG director, marketing communications, automotive refinish. “People experience things in different ways, so we hope to resonate with a couple of their senses. We take our paint offerings seriously, but we know the wonders that can be created with a little imagination. It’s always fun to see people react to the artwork.”

Top industry names mingling in the PPG booth will include Charley Hutton, Bobby Alloway, and Tom and Mitch Kelly. Each year, the Kelly father and son duo design an exclusive collectible poster for the show for PPG. “Honestly I'm still humbled to be a part of the PPG booth,” Hutton said. “It’s always the buzz around SEMA. PPG knocks it out of the park with its themes and exhibits. And I love meeting other painters and craftspeople from around the country and the world. Regardless of what language you speak, we all have the same love of the automobile. If I can answer one question or give other painters advice that helps them, then SEMA is a success for me.” The PPG booth also will host the John Force Racing Team, and Tasca Racing. Kenny Youngblood, one of drag racing’s most talented graphic artists, also will be at the booth with his latest creations. In addition, Mark Worman and team from the Graveyard Carz reality TV series will be on hand to sign autographs.

Puttin’ A Check in the Box Story & Photography by Sheri Pardue

It began as a casual conversation with my sister about the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. She said her son, his girlfriend & her family were planning on attending the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Auction in Las Vegas in September. As we talked, I told her that we ( my husband & I) always watch them when they’re broadcast. She mentioned to me, that my husband had told her he wanted to attend a Barrett-Jackson auction one day. She said it was on his “Bucket List”.

While talking to my sister, I thought about how my husbands birthday was coming up next month and I thought that would be a great surprise gift – so, I decided to make the arrangements to go. A little further into the conversation, she thought it would be an even better idea if they joined us too…needless to say they did - the more the merrier! 28

Our plan was moving forward. A quick weekend trip to check out some cool classic cars. What an adventure it would be. I’ve been to car shows and watched plenty of the auctions on tv, but this was so much more exciting. Compare it to watching a live concert or football game versus watching it on tv, to actually being there… what a difference. The sights and sounds were amazing to the eyes, ears and nose too…that exhaust aroma! Everything from A – Z was on display. Memories of my youth passed before my eyes. From a 1900’s era Roadster to the 2019 Bullitt Ford Mustang. All the beautiful colors of the rainbow were represented too. There was even one that looked black, but it was that optical illusion type color…Black Cherry on a Chevy Fierce Fifty - Five.

The further along I walked through the viewing area of cars waiting to be auctioned, I found my self repeating a phrase that the iconic Las Vegas legend Frank Sinatra said in 1960, when he sang the “Love Me Tender / Witchcraft” duet with 29

the other infamous Las Vegas icon, Elvis Presley…”Man, That’s Pretty!!”

I know the cars made today “Aren’t your Daddy’s Caddy anymore”. Just one look at the car manual displayed on a dashboard spoke volumes – it contained about 24 pages…compare that to about 200 pages in the new car manuals today. These auction cars have style & strength, cushion & character. They’re sharp, but smooth. From the vivid Red & Camel 1932 Ford Custom Roadster to the “As Luscious As Banana Cream Pie” yellow 1959 Chevy Corvette…my personal favorite. There were some makes and models I haven’t ever heard of, but I learned something new every day. Thanks to my husband who became my guude for expanding my car knowledge. I’m around engines every day, but this one caught my eye like no other…it was in a Icy Mint Green & Ivory ‘56Chevy Bel Air. It was the total package for me though still second to that ’ 59 Corvette. I haven’t ever been this excited about an engine before. What strength, shine and style. 30

The sights & sounds will stay with me too. The bells, whistles and excitement of the crowds took over the faint calling of the casinos in the distance. Watching the bidder helpers was just as comical as meeting & seeing the antics of “Horny Mike” to the other extreme of the calmness of Mike Joy ( Velocity Reporter). At one of the classic car shows I enjoyed with my grandsons was ending, and the cars were exiting the park, my husband told us to give the “Thumbs up” sign to the cars you like. The drivers beeped in appreciation. The smiles on their faces were priceless. That’s a testament to why we must continue to preserve the past, to cherish these iconic and special vehicles. So, now I say “Goodnight Sweetheart, It’s Time To Go”…that’s right….I have to go add to “My Bucket List”….the BarrettJackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona in January 2019. 31
