“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

I am going along for the ride...and did.

Where did Summer and half of fall go….

the ‘32 in the MidNight Rodders 29th Annual Fall Color Cruise. I have to confess that for years I have been wanting to participate in this event, but many things and reasons got in the way, and I never did. I told myself that 2018 was the year I am going along for the ride...and did. This event is a no frills, no fee, no trophies FUN RUN. The route is laid out to take everyone thru the Tennessee countryside, down 2 lane roads. They Nailed it. The morning started out overcast, little cool and the roads were still damp from overnight rains. That didn't stop well over 50 gearheads who LOVE to drive their rides though and they were ready to roll at 9am sharp. I will save the rest for the upcoming article we will have on the event. As I have said before, and believe with all of me, the real reason this event is a hit, as many others are too, is the people. The hot rodders hanging out before we hit the road, talking..catching up with each, this is what makes our hobby so great. I will say it again...the cars are just metal, plastic and rubber...the people make them come

As I look a the calendar while putting this issue together, it became very apparent that October 2018 is just about shot! Where in the heck has the year gone? WHOOSH… Maybe the real question is ...did you...me...have fun so far this year. I hope you did. I know I did. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to or planned to, but still I did have a whole lot of gearhead fun and fun in general. I put a lot of SMILE on my face by driving the hot rod. More smiling coming up too thru the last 2 months of the year for me. Here in the Mid-South region we have decent weather for a lot longer than a lot of you further up north. I have seen on different social media outlets that many of you are in the process of or have put your cool rides away for the cold months. I intend to take full advantage of everyday that is rain free and 45 degrees or above. Why not...it’s a better day when you are driving a col car or truck...right? Oh hell yes! Speaking of driving, I had a great time on Saturday Oct. 20th, driving

Photography by “BIG” Al Liebmann—Story by Jimmy B

Once again, Labor day weekend in northern New Jersey was nothing but gearhead fun!. Mahwah New Jersey, near the Hudson river, there is a car show—event that brings gearheads and hot rodders to town by the TEN THOUSANDS!

The 7th edition of the DEAD MANS CURVE , The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND was not a disappoint to anyone who came to the event. Quite honestly by the many comments on various social media outlets, and feed back to the show producers, Mahwah NJ was the PLACE TO BE and Dead Mans Curve #7 was THE event to be at on the East Coast for Labor Day Weekend. The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND filled up the grounds and blacktop at the host hotel, The Sheraton MAHWAH. For 4 full days, both day & night it was nothing but pure hot rod fun! 34

How big was it you ask? Rough count says it was over 1800 hot rods, customs, muscle cars and all kinds of cool cruisers covering all the blacktop and grass...that’s how big it was! Live music was another great feature keeping everybody rocking all weekend long. 20 plus bands kept the crowds and hot rodders toe tapping and dancing between the cars! The Sunday Food Truck Fest was a hit this year too...everybody has to eat. Hot rodders and food just kind of go together. Since it became part of The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND, the show within the show , THUNDER ALLEY continues to be a BIG draw at this event! Funny Cars, Dragsters and all kinds of TOP TIER race cars firing up all weekend long.. PURE THUNDER ALLEY Fun! Congratulations and a BIG “Job Well Done” to the whole DMC team for another exciting and fun Labor Day weekend. Make your plans now to be at DEAD MANS CURVE 2019..it will be bigger and better! Get your hotel reservations now...the host hotel is already sold out...thats how much fun this event is. 35

36

37

Thunder Alley is a huge hit with everyone all weekend long. All these race teams donate their time to the event, as well as all the fuel they use during the multiple fire-up’s & cackle’s they do each day. Seat time in some of the cars during the Cackle is auctioned off and during the Fire Up’s the ALEX’s Lemonade Stand bucket is passed around for donations, and the gearheads and hot rodders did not disappoint by pen their wallets up in a large way, Add in REZ Restoration Beverage’s donating $1.00 per bottle for each bottle sold for another $500.00!! Great job to all! A BIG Thank You to “Big” Al Liebmann for pulling al this together THUNDER ALLEY will be back in 2019 at the DMC #8, The Wild Hot Rod Weekend.
