“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
“there is a LOT of gray hair and beards in the crowd”.
Pre 48...Post 49...Does it really matter?....
of eligibility for people to be able participate at the events. This is a GOOD THING in my opinion. We support it 100%. Here’s why.
Let’s see how much hate mail this gets me.
Take a look at the crowd at the events. If you’re honest you will agree that there is a LOT of gray hair and beards in the crowd. Go back 25 years when it was pre-48 only and there was an event full of dark haired hot rodders. With the gray hair comes age and not everyone who attended 25yrs ago, can nor does attend these days.
Unfortunately I was not able to attend the 50th NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville last weekend. Hated missing it but some other personal business required my full participation. It’s all good! While not being able to go to the NSRA’s “BIG SHOW” , I was able to see some of the show on social media, both Facebook and Instagram. From everything I saw, it was a great event for everyone who attended it.
To keep the events going and the hobby/sport alive, you have to infuse new blood, younger blood into it. If we don’t, this whole hot rod thing could dwindle down at a rapid rate. The younger guys and gals don’t all want to build, own or drive a pre-48 car or truck. THAT’S OK!
Thanks to all of you who posted pics of any kind for those of us who couldn't make it to LOO-Ville. One thing I did see more of than I expected on social media sites , was the negative comments about the event. Things like “Not Street Rods Anymore” and other comments along that same type of statement. Really?? REALLY???
For the record, I own a 32 Ford Coupe, and acquiring parts to build another pre-48 ride. That’s what I like. That’ doesn't mean I don’t welcome other post 49 rides to an event...Let them in I say! Live It Fully Everyday
Get over it! The change was made more than a little while ago by not only the NSRA, but also GOODGUYS to expand the window

Ford shows most powerful street-legal Mustang with 760 hp The most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built will go on sale this fall. A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will crank out 760 horsepower in the 2020 Shelby GT500. The new version has a beefed-up suspension and brakes. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission that Ford promises will shift smoothly on commutes and quickly on the track. The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force. The Shelby GT500 can go from zero to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) in around 3.5 seconds, although Ford didn’t release a precise number. That’s slightly slower than the mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette, which General Motors says will do it in under three seconds. Performance powertrain engineering manager Patrick Morgan says the new version is aimed at Mustang enthusiasts who also want track performance. He said the car can go from zero to 100 mph (161 kilometers per hour) and back to zero again in 10.6 seconds. The car comes with pumps that can send gas to the fuel injectors all the way until the tank is empty. It also takes 11 quarts of oil with an oil pan that can keep the engine lubricated during extreme cornering moves on the track. The car starts at $73,995 including shipping and a $2,600 gas-guzzler tax. Ford says it hasn’t finished fuel economy tests. 8
The Art of Racing in the Rain If you want tire screeching, big-screen heart-thumping race car battling, go see something else. This ain’t it. What you’ll get from this film is a splendid, honest portrayal of Garth Stein’s book that explains - in the most believable way - precisely what motorized competition is all about. And it ain’t sponsorship. Here, direct from the thoughtful, passionate, discerning mind of a dog, the audience learns what it takes to be a winner on the race track. Any race track. There is a refreshing lack of razzle bedazzle Hollywood crazy stunt driving. In fact, the many multimillion dollar race cars are merely respectful window dressing, allowing the more important aspect of the absorbing 109 minute story to be delivered one believable, welcome bit at a time. Frankly, anyone who ever earned a checkered flag will cheat themselves by NOT seeing this film. The rest will come away knowing their time was well spent. This is a story well told. There is no fidgeting, no boring bits, or eye-rolling stupidness. This film is an invitation into the head, heart and mind of the world’s top race car drivers. Interestingly, most of the profound comments from Enzo the dog (voiced by Kevin Costner) come straight from real deal racer/instructor Don Kitch Jr who has driven the talk for decades. The guy understands leftyrighty grab the pedal almighty just like he understands how to breathe. And about the storyline. . . Milo Ventimiglia plays Denny Swift, a determined, talented road racer who earns his living wage in a Seattle auto repair shop but drives for glory on the weekends seeking a chance join the professional ranks. He gets the girl, and another girl before all hell lets loose, but Swift never lifts thanks to Enzo. Stein was sincerely influenced by a National Geographic show about dogs in Mongolia. Having spent extended time in the Steppes of Asia, that aspect of the tale resonated with me on several levels. This film is a grand cinematic journey that you might just want to take more than once. I will. “LandSpeed” Louise Ann Noeth 9

CLAMP IT! If you are lucky enough own your own car lift, once in a while you will need to climb up to the interior to operate a key or switch, etc. Once you get high enough, you lean over to get whatever you are trying to reach and that’s when the ladder slips out from underneath you. How do I know, don’t ask. It only takes a minute to clamp the ladder to the lift. ( see picture) Broken bones usually delays getting a project done. PS: IMPORTANT ……..Unclamp the ladder before you bring the lift down.
