“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
SEMA is part show, part new car reveal...
It’s that time of year again...SEMA WEEK...
Show that was held in the basement of Dodger Stadium. Quite a bit different that the current SEMA show.
As I write this, Halloween is almost ready to hit and the neighborhood kids will be doing the trick or treat thing across America,
Back in 1967, Robert E. Petersen (Founder of HOT ROD Magazine), came up with the idea to showcase key companies in the drag racing and hot rod world. That year companies like EDELBROCK, DEIST, ANSEN, Simpson and others came out an participated in the first SEMA show. Their hope was that enough speed shops and other companies would come out to see their displays and order parts from them. The formula and format was simple and to the point, and it worked. It worked so well that the SEMA show continues, just in a much bigger way.
If it’s Halloween, that means its time for the SEMA Show to take place in Las Vegas. If you have never been to the SEMA show, or it’s been more than a few years, it has become quite the spectacle. Over the top would probably be a understatement. One thing you need at SEMA is a GRETA PAIR of comfortable shoes. Shoes can you can seriously walk in. If you bring the wrong pair, you will pay the penalty after more than a couple of hours.
Today SEMA is part show, part new car reveal, new parts reveal and a big part social event. More importantly SEMA is working for all of us to further our hobby and passion...Thank you SEMA
We have not been in a few years just because other events and life moments have gotten in the way for us/. We will be back though as it is fun and something to see for sure.
Live It Fully Everyday
This week’s Out The Back Door shot is from the very first SEMA

3 Muscle Cars Facing Off at SEMA For Title of “Best Build” November is rapidly approaching and with that comes the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This year’s show will be hosting another Battle of the Builders (BOTB) competition and this one is shaping up to be the most competitive one yet. The competition for the best build is going to be extremely stiff, but we picked three sweet rides that you should keep an eye on leading up to the SEMA Show. We are going to be highlighting the Ringbrothers’ 1969 Camaro, Paul Jurewicz’s 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and Troy Gudgel’s 1969 Camaro. First off is the Ringbrother’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Designed, engineered, and built by Jim and Mike Ring, this ’69 Camaro is a prime candidate to take the trophy. There is no small detail on this build that was overlooked. It started with a CAD design, went to foam block sculpting, and eventually ended up in its current carbon fiber form. The carbon fiber car is powered by a Wegner‘s 416 LS3 with an 890hp Whipple supercharger. Next up is Paul Jurewicz’s 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Coming into SEMA’s Battle of the Builders, Paul Jurewicz is already a well-decorated hot rod builder. He has multiple titles from various build competitions and is gunning to continue this trend at SEMA 2019. We know a bit more about Jurewicz, Studebaker Golden Hawk than we do about the Ringbrothers’ Camaro. This custom rod consists of a unique combination of many different cars. It all starts with a ’57 Studebaker cowl and windshield. From there Jurewicz grafted in a ’60s Pontiac front clip as well as a ’60-’63 Corvair rear. The hood is from a 1960 Thunderbird and the trunk lid is actually a 1980s Audi sunroof from a station wagon! Underneath this unique body is the rear suspension out of a 1980s era Jaguar and the front suspension out of a 1990s era Corvette. The powerplant for this beautiful Frankenstein is a 1996 Lincoln V8 motor souped-up with an aftermarket intake, a Demon carburetor, MSD ignition backed by a Ford C-4 automatic transmission. To finish it off, we have Troy Gudgel’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. This year, Grudgel is coming in hot with a stunning yet powerful 1969 Camaro. The car consists of multiple handcrafted metal pieces like the removable top, rear end, hood, and bumpers. 700+ HP coming out of a supercharged LT4 in a hand-crafted custom engine bay and being sent to the wheels and tires mounted to a widened rear end. 7
