Corvette Goes Right-Hand-Drive The new C8 Corvette has broken a lot of norms already by moving the engine to the back of the car, but this was not enough for Chevrolet. They wanted a Corvette that could be enjoyed the world over, and that required a version with the steering wheel to the right side of the car.

Well, that is exactly what Chevrolet has done. Starting in 2021, the C8 Corvette will be available for sale in both left-hand-drive, and right-hand-drive, versions. In most countries, it will be sold at Chevrolet dealerships with one exception. That market is Australia, where the Corvette is debuting in 2021 in Holden and HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) dealers, but not all of them. The Australian version will not be rebadged as a Holden, but rather just marketed as a Corvette. Offering the right-hand-drive version makes it more suitable for export to countries where it has never been a big player, such as the U.K., Ireland and Japan, as one expects, but also India, New Zealand, large parts of the Caribbean, numerous countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia and large parts of Southeast Asia. In total, the new Corvette is suited for 75 countries and territories where traffic keeps on the left side of the road.

Learn how to drive that new Mustang Shelby GT500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Knowing how to get every bit of performance out of the "most powerful street-legal Ford ever" will take more than a few trips around the block in a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. Some time at a drag strip with professional instructors, could help, especially when it's complimentary. So Ford is offering just that. Anyone who buys the 760-horsepower beast (it starts at $72,900, not counting destination charge, but prices with extras can top $91,000) can attend the GT500 Track Attack, and Ford will cover the cost, although buyers will have to pay for travel there and lodging. This won't mark the first time Ford has offered a complimentary driver training program — Ford started similar performance efforts in 2012 with the Mustang Boss 302 and has done courses for the Focus ST, Focus RS, Fiesta ST, Shelby GT350 and even the Ford F-150 Raptor and Edge and Explorer ST — but it will be the first time that one will include a drag strip, Ford Performance spokesman Matt Leaver said. It will also be the first time at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Ford Performance Racing School announced the move of its pavement-based programs to CMS in July. The school is keeping its off-road programs in Utah. Ford says it will cover the costs of the driving school, with owners responsible for travel, hotel and an optional second-day program. Details are still being finalized. So why go to driving school? “Even if you have a bunch of performance cars they're all different,” Leaver said, noting that's it's helpful to learn about such a high-performance car from professional instructors in a controlled environment. Leaver said that when he went out for a GT350 course, he met owners with a full range of skill sets, those who race and those who have never been on a track before. "If you were to take it to a drag strip, how would you appropriately launch it?" he said of the GT500. The supercharged 5.2-liter V8 is said to deliver supercar-level performance, so knowing how to handle all that power is key. "Our school is the perfect venue to demonstrate just what it can do, both on the track and on the strip. Our professional instructors can help anyone take their driving expertise to the next level, whether they are beginners or experienced drivers,” Dan McKeever, president of Ford Performance Racing School, said in a release. 7

When you look on a map, you will see that Alabama does sit almost geographically in the middle of what is referred to as the Southeast USA region. This location plays an important role for gearheads, as some of the best cars in the Southeast and beyond, come out for the Birmingham World of Wheels show each year. The Birmingham World of Wheels show is held at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Center in the heart of downtown Bâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Ham. The convention center is easy to get to and that makes it easy to see all the really cool stuff inside...all those cool cars, hot rods, trucks, motorcycles and more!

All of this adds up to a great show, that if you attend for the first time, will surprise you. Depending on what entrance you come in, there are 2 levels of the finest show cars, trucks and bikes anywhere. Two levels filled from wall to wall with street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, classics, customs and more! The show is truly a family friendly event. Plenty of things to do for everyone in the whole family. Special guest appearances, activities for the kids, vendors of every kind and a whole lot more. One feature of this event is the competition for the Vaughn Early Memorial award. An entry has to make it into the Fabulous 5 to be a contender for the Vaugh Early Memorial Award. To be in contention for the Fab 5 alone, your entry has to be shown for the first time at the Birmingham World OF Wheels show. The Competition for 2019 was TUFFFF! The Vaugh Early Award Winner for 2019 was Johnny Martin who traveled to Birmingham from his home in Alamosa, Colorado with his awesome 1957 Chevy. As we do here at the Gearhead Gazzette, weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re going to let the pictures show you what a great show this is. Remember that this is just a little taste of the whole show!
