“HOT RODDING” such a wonderful hobby Having diversity in our lives and world is a good thing...

The beauty of all this is we all GET ALONG and accept each other. No, every genre of “HOT RODDING” doesn't appeal to everyone and I am no different. That doesn't mean that I don’t appreciate and respect what others build or drive or more importantly have fun with.

This is not about what you are thinking right now. YES our world is experiencing some “INTERESTING” times and situations these days, but I am going to let that all settle itself.

This diversity is what makes “HOT RODDING” such a wonderful hobby and community too. Having fun with cars is what we are all about.

The diversity I am talking about is our cars and trucks. All different type, styles, makes and models. We have hot rodders, street rods, muscle car lovers, original / restored fans and rat rodders too. There are probably some more out there that I am missing but you see what I am talking about.

The same goes for motorsports too. Drag Racing, Indy car racing, NASCAR, Formula 1, or off road racing...they are all good and have an appeal to many but not all.

We have lovers of American name plates, foreign name plates, luxury cars, sports cars, cruisers and performance cars.

We truly are very blessed and lucky as gearheads. We have all these choices in our. hobby and passion. Without all of these it would be very dull to just have a black Model T for everyone...sorry Henry!

Trucks...a whole other genre too. Mini trucks, Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Gas motors or diesels. LS motors, Coyote Motors or maybe a badass 4 banger too. Square bodies, late models, lowered or raised up and even higher. C/10’s F100’s or RAM Tough...all kinds of trucks.

Get out and look or watch something different this weekend...you will be glad you did…. I know I will. Live It Fully Everyday

June 2, 2020 To our Members and Supporters, As we enter the month of June, we know that many of you have questions surrounding our upcoming July event schedule. While we are still unable to provide complete details, here is what we can tell you: We are actively preparing to move forward with all of our currently scheduled July events. We have received positive communications and updates from our host venues and anticipate positive news to move forward with many, if not all, of our July events; however, we are still waiting on the official approvals from state, county and/or local governing agencies. RE: Des Moines, IA and Columbus, OH - Our events team is working with venue management at both sites to work towards hosting successful events at both locations. Any changes, cancellations or updates with these events will be made no later than June 17, 2020. We understand that you may need to make the best decision possible for your company, and that decision may have to be made before June 17. We will continue to monitor the statuses of our later July events including Salt Lake City, UT and Puyallup, WA and will provide an update in the coming weeks when we have more definitive information. Once we receive approval to produce an event, we will provide specific local market details on all health and safety parameters that will be implemented for each specific event. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work with state, county and local officials to gain the approvals needed to produce a healthy and safe event. In anticipation of a return to producing our events, we have created our Goodguys Cares Health & Safety Guidelines for both Event Attendees and Exhibitors to help you prepare for participating in a Goodguys event: We look forward to seeing you all again on the road real soon! Nashville Superspeedway To Make NASCAR Return In 2021 Nashville Superspeedway has never hosted a race at NASCAR’s premier level. But Dover Motorsports Inc. announced that will change come 2021. The 1.33-mile facility will replace one of the two events at Dover International Speedway next year as NASCAR makes its return to the Music City. The move means NASCAR is adding a track to the Cup Series schedule for the first time since Kentucky Speedway was given a race date in 2011. “We were energized to see how excited Nashville was to host the NASCAR Cup Series banquet last December,” Denis McGlynn, president and CEO of Dover Motorsports Inc. said in a press release. “When we built Nashville Superspeedway in 2001, our goal was to one day secure a NASCAR Cup Series race for the venue. We are thrilled that we were able to collaborate with NASCAR and our television partners to get this done and we can’t wait to put on a great show there in 2021.” Dover Motorsports Inc.’s move to bring back the concrete racetrack is one that has stunned the industry. Nashville has not hosted any races since 2011, when it hosted both Xfinity and Gander RV and Outdoors Truck series contests. The track was well-known among NASCAR fans for its unique trophy: a stunning Gibson Les Paul guitar, designed by the late motorsports artist Sam Bass. And yes, that brought plenty of controversy when Kyle Busch slammed the guitar into the ground, destroying it, after winning a 2009 Xfinity Series race at Nashville. The ownership group made a wise decision, knowing its 1.0-mile concrete oval, Dover International Speedway, would likely lose one of its two events in the near future. Dover has seen a dramatic decline in attendance over the years, removing 29,000 seats last year to reduce its capacity to 54,000. At one point, it seated roughly 135,000 race fans. Speedway Motorsports Inc., which owns eight of the 23 circuits on the NASCAR schedule, has been in negotiations to purchase the nearby Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. However, SMI has faced difficulty securing the property, with Nashville SC attempting to build a stadium next to the track. 7

NHRA MELLO YELLO DRAG RACING RETUNS BEGINNING WITH TWO INDIANAPOLIS EVENTS IN JULY NHRA Drag Racing will return to the world stage in a major way in mid-July, relaunching its Mello Yello Drag Racing Series and associated programs with events on back-to-back weekends at famed Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. The two events will be run on consecutive weeks, July 11-12 and July 18-19 at the home of the newly-sponsored Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals and serve as the launch point for 15 more NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events that will follow beginning two weeks later in Seattle. The season will conclude with the crowning of the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series champions November 13-15 at the Auto Club NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. Sixteen of the events on the revised schedule will be condensed to two-day competition schedules for the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series classes due to economic and logistical factors. This will entail one day of qualifications (two rounds) on Saturday and Final Eliminations on Sunday. Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes will begin racing on Friday. Schedule subject to change due to evolving facts and guidelines. 8

The events in Chicago; Norwalk, Ohio; Richmond, Va.; Epping, N.H.; and Sonoma, Calif., and the spring events in Las Vegas and Charlotte, N.C., that were originally scheduled for the 2020 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, had to be canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, previously canceled, has been returned to the 2020 schedule in late August. The JEGS Allstars competition, originally scheduled as part of the Chicago event, and the Mickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle, originally scheduled as part of the Sonoma event, will both be contested at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals. 9

who loved the â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;good old daysâ&#x20AC;? of drag racing. You know the ones...when the TOP FUEL cars had the motors in front of the driver and the FUNNY CARS looked like the cars you could buy at a dealership or even better,

1992...Steve Gibbs came up with the idea of holding an event that would bring together the drag racers and fans 26

that you were driving everyday. The event would bring in the HOT ROD Hero’s who helped start the sport of drag racing and honor them and give the fans the chance to actually meet them too! Steve said let’s bring in a whole bunch of the old cars to show

them off. Then he thought why not fire them up too and the term CACKLEFEST was created! Old Nitro fuel drag cars sitting still and burning a 90% or greater load of “fuel”, with header flames reaching for the sky...yea...that’ll work! Wait!!! We’re not done here...lets actually race 72 & earlier cars that meet the safety rules….yea that’ll work too! 27

We’re still not done...let’s invite hot rodders to drive and show off their ‘72 & earlier cars, hot rods , street rods and trucks all weekend long. Can’t put them in the pits...let’s put them in “The Grove” area at the track. Where else would you do all this and more? Why at one of the oldest and most nostalgic drag strips in the USA...FAMOSO Raceway in Bakersfield CA . Fast forward 27 years to 2019 and that same formula is still used for the California Hot Rod Reunion. This is one of those events that just makes you feel good when you are there and when you have left for the weekend. It has everything going on for a gearhead. Whether you sit in the stands, are a “rail bird”, hanging out at the 1000ft mark, wandering the pits to check out all those cool old race cars and the guys and gals who built them and drove them, or checking out all the hot rods on display in “The Grove”, all while the Nitro Fumes hang in the air with the smell of burning rubber... the California Hot Rod Reunion has something for everyone. We have been to more than a couple CHRR events. We definitely give it a THUMBS UP and would tell you to make the trip in late October of 2020 to enjoy “THE BIG SHOW” too...you will feel good .

This year’s Stampede will be approximately an hour and fifteen minutes long. We will stop at the cemetery to pay our respects and our Chaplain will say a few words before we finish the trip nearby to meet with the family to give them the money.
