Welcome to issue #26 for 2020 gearheads. We are half way through this year and what a year it has been so far.!!

Speaking of receiving event info...anyone or any group or all you show and cruise promoters out there, we are going to ask for your help.

Challenging is probably not even close to describing it.

We need you to make sure we have the latest event info for your event or cruise. If the event / show / cruise is planned and something changes, we need you to NOTIFY US right away. REMEMBER we not only share it for 2 weeks right here in the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE, but we keep our website updated at least weekly on events. If you have to postpone or cancel...LET US KNOW as soon as you can. We will share the info timely. The actual person you make happy with CORRECT info is the person who wants to come to your event. If you don’t let us know about a change, and someone comes to your event and its not happening, you may lose a future participant when all this COVID stuff clears up and shows are back to normal at some point in the future.

For us here at the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE, the first half of 2020 has caused us to bring you event info in a whole new, one we could never have imagined back in January when 2020 started. We made a conscious decision to continue to bring you ALL the event info whether it was still going on, postponed to a new date, postponed to a TBD date or even if the event was cancelled. We felt and still fee that you NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO GO to have gearhead fun, or in some cases this year, where you cant go to have fun.

Some of you have questioned us ( and that is perfectly ok as it helps us get better), on why we continue to publish all the event that AREN”T happening. It’s easy...because gearheads need to know if an event they like or want to go to is actually taking place so they can plan accordingly.

Jessi Combs Officially Recognized as â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Fastest Woman on Earthâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; The speeds achieved by daredevil and all-around bad-ass Jessi Combs leading up to the accident that took her life on August 27, 2019, has been accepted as a new world record by the officials at Guinness World Records.

Combs' record is for the fastest speed on land achieved by a woman, and the official number is 522.783 mph (841.338 kph). It's the first time a new record has been set in this category in more than 40 years. The previous record stood at 512.7 mph, achieved by Kitty O'Neil back in 1976. Combs died while attempting to set the record at a event held in the Alvord Desert in Oregon. She managed to complete two successful high-speed runs in a jet-powered car: one at 515.346 mph and one at 548.432 mph. The average of the two runs, 531.889 mph, was submitted for consideration by Guinness officials, and it isn't clear how they arrived at the final figure of 522.783 mph for the record. While Combs was widely known for appearing on TV shows such as "MythBusters," "All Girls Garage," and "Overhaulin'," she also competed in sanctioned motorsports events, including the Baja 1000 and King of Hammers. Her first-place finish at the latter earned her the nickname "Queen of Hammers." Becoming the fastest woman on Earth was always her dream, though, according to a statement made by her family following her death. An investigation into the exact cause of the accident that led to Combs' death revealed that the front wheel of the streamliner she was piloting, known as the North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger, had failed, likely due to striking an object on the ground.
