“Hotroddingowesalottoourveterans…”

Friday November 11th, our nation celebrates VETERANS DAY. Veterans Day is the time we recognize ALL Veterans who have served our great country. We recognize the Veterans who have served in all the conflicts our country has experienced. We recognize the Veterans who are still alive, as well as those that have passed away. Most importantly we remember and recognize those people who paid the ultimate price, by giving their life while fighting for our country. These are the true HERO’s of our country.

Please accept a heartfelt thank you from me to all of you who have served or are serving our great country today, in one of the various branches of the military. Because of you, we remain a free nation.

Hot rodding owes a lot to our veterans, especially the ones who served and fought in WWII.

Those veterans not only protected

our way of life, but the world also. As newscaster Tom Brokaw said, “they are the greatest generation”. They also got many idea’s from the equipment they worked on and parts they used and took care of, and then adapted them to their hot rods. Military surplus became a way of building hot rods to run on the dry lakes, at Bonneville and on the drag strip too. Think “bomber seats”...from military airplanes, and may other parts too.

The GI BILL (remember that!) helped many a returning soldier and sailor go to college and start their own hot rod type business. They started what we enjoy today.

All of our Veterans have written a blank check to our country, and put their lives on the line. For that we say THANK YOU...every day and in many ways.

I too am proud to say that I served our country in the US NAVY…. “Drive ’Em Don’t Hide ’Em”

SVE Launches 750-HP 2023 Supercharged Yenko/SC Chevy Camaro

The Chevy Camaro makes quite the impression right out of the box, but for those customers looking to squeeze more juice from the platform, Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) is now offering the 2023 Supercharged Yenko/SC Chevy Camaro with 750 horsepower. As evidenced by the name, SVE’s 2023 Supercharged Yenko/SC Chevy Camaro takes after the Yenko Chevy Camaros of the ‘60s, all while throwing in a healthy dose of modern performance and a variety of customization opportunities to boot.

The main party piece can be found under the hood, where the 2023 Supercharged Yenko/SC Chevy Camaro boosts the factory 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine with a new 3.0L twin screw supercharger capable of reaching 100 percent volumetric efficiency. The new blower sends the charge air through an oversized air to water intercooler system, while an aluminum high flow intake manifold, billet idler plate, and adjustable idler system are in place as well. The engine is also blueprinted during the assembly process to ensure it meets factory specs.

The end result is a heady 750 horsepower, outmuscling even the factory Camaro ZL1 in terms of raw output. Incredibly, the whole shebang retains 50 state emissions legality (E.O. pending). Further goodies include Yenko-branded Brembo brakes (four-piston standard, six-piston optional), as well as forged, lightweight, multi spoke aluminum wheels wrapped in Nitto tires, a custom carbon fiber hood, Yenko striping and graphics, and unique components in the cabin as well. Options include extra aero bits, graphics, and more.

The new 750-horsepower 2023 Supercharged Yenko/SC Chevy Camaro is available for the 2023 Chevy Camaro LT1, 1SS, and 2SS trim levels. Both the Coupe and Convertible body styles are accommodated, as is a manual transmission and automatic transmission. Only 50 examples total will be produced, all of which will be available exclusively through GM dealers in the U.S. and Canada. Interested customers can contact SVE for more information.

SVE Launches Supercharged 2023 Yenko/SC Chevy Silverado

Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) has launched the new-for-2023 supercharged Yenko/ SC Chevy Silverado pickups, offering upwards of 800 horsepower for hauling more than just cargo. Let’s jump straight to the good stuff. The heart of the 2023 supercharged Yenko/ SC Chevy Silverado is a supercharged powerplant, with Specialty Vehicle Engineering throwing boost at the 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine to yield 700 horsepower and 800 horsepower, respectively. For reference, the 5.3L V8 L84 is rated at 355 horsepower in atmospheric trim, while the 6.2L V8 L87 is rated at 420 horsepower in atmospheric trim. Making those power numbers a reality is a long list of performance parts, including a blueprinted block, a race-spec and computer-balanced rotating assembly with a forged 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft, forged pistons, and upgraded heads. The beefy engine upgrades are topped by SVE’s high-output supercharger system, with a custom stainless steel exhaust providing the fun noises. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are offered to put the power down. Complementary performance upgrades include Yenko badged six piston front brakes, Nitto rubber, a large diameter rear sway bar, and heavy-duty traction bars. A sport suspension system with 2-inch lowering springs in front and 5 inch lowering springs in the rear (paired with Fox shocks) is also offered. The good stuff continues with a number of exterior upgrades declaring the 2023 Yenko/SC Chevy Silverado’s high-performance status, including a new composite hood insert, Yenko-branded grille and fender badging, power level tailgate badging, and of course, a Yenko/SC side stripe. Inside, you’ll find unique badging with the vehicle build number, embroidered floormats, and embroidered headrests, as well as branded doorsills to match. Several other optional upgrades are also on the table, with body mods and an interior leather package available.

The Yenko/SC build is available for 2023 Chevy Silverado LT, LTZ, RST, and High Country trim levels, including Crew Cab or Double Cab body styles with either a short bed or standard bed in back. Interested customers can get their 2023 Yenko/SC Chevy Silverado from GM dealers around the nation. Production is limited at 50 units apiece for 700 horsepower and 800 horsepower variants.

IN-N-OUT BURGER NAMED TITLE SPONSOR OF POMONA DRAGSTRIP AND IN

-N-OUT BURGER

NHRA FINALS

NHRA and In-N-Out Burger announced today that In-N-Out Burger, California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand, has been named the title sponsor of both the In N Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip and the In-N-Out NHRA Finals as part of an exciting multi-year partnership that begins during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

Additionally, the legendary track in Pomona will also play host to a massive event to celebrate In N Out Burger’s 75th anniversary on Oct. 22, 2023, with NHRA and In-N-Out Burger teaming up to celebrate the car culture that has been so important in the history of both organizations. In N Out’s 75th Anniversary Festival is slated to include drag racing from test-and-tune to class eliminations on the Pomona Dragstrip’s iconic quarter mile, a car show, concerts with celebrity guest appearances, and more entertainment, complete with In-N-Out Burger’s Cookout Trailers to serve their signature fresh Double Doubles® and French fries all day and into the night.

“Drag racing and hot rods have been such an important part of our history at In-N-Out, and a love for racing has been a big part of my family as well,” says In-N-Out Burger owner and president Lynsi Snyder. “I have many special memories being at the Pomona Dragstrip, many of them with my dad, and I’m really looking forward to In-N-Out’s involvement there for many years to come. We’re blessed with many loyal customers who are also race fans, and we’re excited to see them at the track.”

Like it has for nearly 40 years, the historic InN Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip will play host to a pair of NHRA events in 2023, including the 63rd annual Lucas Oil Winternationals on March 30 April 2 and the season ending 58th annual In N Out Burger NHRA Finals on Nov. 9 12. There, the world will be watching as champions are crowned in the world’s fastest motorsport to cap off what will be another memorable NHRA season. The historic track in Pomona is hallowed grounds in drag racing, with the first NHRA race taking place in 1953. In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip has been home to the NHRA Winternationals since 1961 and the NHRA Finals since 1984, providing one incredible, legacy making moment after another. The record setting track opened its doors in 1950, just two years after founders Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In N Out Burger 12 miles away, in the city of Baldwin Park. Now, the two Southern California mainstays will partner together to ensure many more years of thrilling and unbelievable 11,000-horsepower, 330-mph drag racing action at the famed facility. “This is such a thrilling partnership and we’re so eager and excited to team up with In N Out Burger,” NHRA President Glen Cromwell said. “In N Out Burger is an iconic brand. To have such a terrific company as the title sponsor of both our historic track in Pomona and our season ending NHRA Finals means a great deal to NHRA, our race teams and our fans, and shows the continued growth of NHRA Drag Racing. We can’t wait to showcase the excitement of our sport to the many In N Out Burger customers.”

Callaway Corvettes: 35 Years of Making Fast Faster Exhibit Now Open at the National Corvette Museum

The National Corvette Museum opened its latest exhibit honoring 35 years of Callaway Corvettes.

The exhibit is open now through late February 2023.

For thirty-five years, the most powerful and distinctive Corvettes in the world have been created by a team of dedicated engineers located in Old Lyme, CT, Temecula, CA, and Leingarten, Germany they are the cars known as Callaway Corvettes, and their creed is “Powerfully Engineered Automobiles.” Known for their engineering and fine attention to detail in the craftsmanship of their products, Callaway has been on the top of the highperformance field for over four decades.

In the early 80s, GM was looking at high performance powertrain options for the Corvette, including turbocharging and multi valve technologies. GM was aware of Callaway’s reputation and the cars it had produced. After GM’s own single and twin turbo V6 and V8 projects had run their course, Dave McLellan, then Chief Engineer for Corvette, gave the nod to Callaway, authorizing development of a prototype. The resulting powertrain option was introduced in June 1986 under Regular Production Option (RPO) B2K. With 345 hp and 465 lb. ft of torque, the Callaway Twin Turbo engine option was engineered to be the ultimate Corvette package, producing tremendous power while retaining its emissions controls and a warranty.

With the introduction of the C8 Stingray, Callaway was again issued a RPO (PCY) to commemorate the milestone anniversary for the 35th year of working with Corvette. Specific Callaway content is included in this anniversary model with Corvette order documents, build sheets and other paperwork identifying this significant milestone. Only 35 of these vehicles were built, available through authorized Callaway dealers now.

The National Corvette Museum is located at 350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101

Hard to believe still a lot of street rods, back roads

believe it’s been thirty three years however, thankfully we folks that want to pack a picnic lunch, gas up their muscle cars, classics and head out on the two lane and hills for a day of cruising and fellowship.

October 22nd we gathered once again at the Kohl’s parking lot in Hermitage, Tennessee and were greeted by a picturesque sunrise followed by over fifty five cool rides. Everything from Vettes, Mustangs, Kustoms, Street Rod coupes and sedans, even an over the top International Loadstar 1700 diesel flatbed. Yeppers, that made it official, we had one of everything there!

We rode down Chicken Road, through Norene, took Jug Creek Rd. (no one missed the turn and had the Wolfman get-em that I know of). We rolled through Statesville, Liberty and stopped at the Kwick-N-Easy in Smithville for fuel and a restroom break before heading on through Midway and Shady Grove.

Cruised past the Lazy Daisy in Rock Island and the Great Falls Cotton Mill on our way to the Sandbar Beach and Pavilion on the Caney River in Rock Island State Park. If you’ve never been to this isolated area of Tennessee, it’s a must explore State Park.

Once at the picnic pavilion, everyone threw down with some good food from fried chicken, sandwiches, homemade cakes and cookies, (my favorite) some were tailgating, some taking advantage of the picnic tables and others formed a family circle.

I was fortunate, my friend George Toombs, brought an extra baloney sandwich, between that and my friend, Little Debbie, it was game on. My favorite part of the cruise however is just walking around, listening to the laughter and the sound of folks having fun.

With the windows down, radio cranked up, leaves at their peak and the scenery of rolling hills, reflections across the creeks, rivers and lakes all coming together, I believe number thirty three was one of the very best ever!

Thank you to everyone that participated from all the Midnight Rodders. We hope you’ll come back next year and make Color Cruise thirty four another day of “Makin’ Memories!”

The SEMA Show… since its first show in 1967 under Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, to 2022, has been about the Specialty Equipment After Market. You know...parts and services for all of us hot rodders and gearheads.

The SEMA organization was actually formed in 1963 to strengthen the fledgling hot rod parts market. SEMA was formed in by Roy Richter, Ed Iskenderian, Els Lohn, Willie Garner, Bob Hedman, Robert E. Wyman, John Bartlett, Phil Weiand Jr, Al Segal, Dean Moon, and Vic Edelbrock Jr. and now consists of 6,383 companies worldwide, bringing together aftermarket manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), media, car dealers, specialty equipment distributors, installers, retailers and restoration specialists.

The people who attend SEMA are either Companies looking to sell their products or services to shops and businesses who specialize in the after car market, buyers who are the shop and business owners looking to add other part lines or services to their businesses or the OEM’s who now play a big part in the aftermarket parts

business. Plenty of show coverage comes from the media so we all know went on in a particular year of SEMA.

While a lot goes on each day in the way of business, the real STARS of SEMA are all those vehicles on display, in booths and outside the convention center, showing off parts that are available from companies.

Having been to SEMA on multiple occasions, it still is mid boggling just how many vehicles are on display each year. Over 1000 vehicles were on display at SEMA in 2022. If you wanted to see it all at SEMA , you had to plan on 4 days and walking 8 10 miles a day...WHEW!!!!

Since everyone cant go to SEMA, here are just a small sample of the cars and trucks that were on display this year...Enjoy!
