ON THE EDGE

For many high-class furniture makers, automobile, marine and aircraft manufacturers, Kündig will need no further introduction having been established in the UK since 1996.

Under the guidance of third generation CEO, Lukas Kündig, the company continues to design, create and innovate one off bespoke solutions along with their more traditional and standard range which are found in many manufacturing workshops throughout the UK.

The highly anticipated Ligna 2023 will allow Kündig to launch their new portfolio of both wide belt and edge sanding machines, bringing new ideas, new designs and new livery whilst still having emphasis on the renowned quality, reliability and user friendliness associated with all products manufactured by Kündig of Switzerland.

At Ligna there will be a new series of traditional style sanding machines available with one, two or three sanding heads with a selection of configurations for calibration, finishing or veneer sanding.

For those looking to achieve the best possible finish especially where de-nibbing sealer or cutting back lacquer there will be a selection of Kündig Perfect machines on display which easily show the difference in finish between traditional style sanders and Oblique sanding which is a patented system that has been employed by Kündig for over 20 years and eliminates the wavy scratch pattern associated with ‘straight line’ or traditional sanding. There will also be examples of special application machines on display from the Kündig Technic series where, in particular, machines have been built to presand then final sand five piece doors where traditional calibration rollers and segmented pads have been used along with a cross belt and the carousel rotary brush system used to soften the edges and sand into the profiles.

Last, and by no means least, are the Uniq series of edge sanding machines suitable for solid wood, veneer and lacquer sanding of the edge. These versatile machines can be equipped to allow sanding off the drive roller or can have the additional cast table and bobbin attachments for sanding internal or external curves. If there is emphasis on edge sanding, the machines can be fitted with either a single or a twin set of drive belts to transport the work piece through the machine effectively and at a constant speed. The flagship of the edge sanders is the Kündig Flash equipped with an action controlled sanding pad, variable speed to the feed and to the abrasive, belt cleaner and touch screen control and is suitable for both pre sanding and de-nibbing the edges of sealed panels ready for the top coat to be applied.

Kündig UK have trained and dedicated support staff who provide installation, support, training and advice on all aspects of sanding along with a selection of machinery on display which can be demonstrated and tested by potential customers.
