The story of Markslöjd begins in 1963, around the small town of Skene in Sweden. Our production was of small scale, consisting mostly of wooden crafts and lighting. Fast forward to 2019, with a production of larger scale and far away from home - we longed to find a way back to our Scandinavian roots.
Our journey in search of production closer to home began, while fulfilling a dream to honour our heritage and history.
Teaming up with designer Joakim Thedin, we present two products made entirely or substantially in Sweden. Available in a limited edition of 250 pieces each.
The lamp bases are crafted in Gothenburg and the textile cables come from another local producer. Both less than an hour away from Skene.
PACKAGING
Amfi and Pater have a new box and are gently packed by our staff in Skene. The manuals are numbered by hand.

The Pater table lamp is a tribute to our history of lamp bases in turned wood, with a modern twist.
The base is crafted of solid oak giving each piece a slightly unique look. The elliptical shade in opal almost appears to be floating on top of the base, while delivering a comfortable, ambient light.
Combining the graceful glass and the sturdy base creates a bold, yet timelessly elegant Scandinavian design.
Pater table lamp is an eye-catching piece of Scandinavian design, easy to place in any home.

The Amfi table lamp is a result of blending traditional craft with modern methods of production.
The design is inspired by ancient amphitheaters, circular shapes to achieve the architectural look.
The base is crafted of wooden composite material Valchromat. Coloured throughout in dark grey and with visible natural wood fibres on the surface.
