Get Relief from Sunburn
MetroCreative
Sunburn is something nearly everyone will experience at least once in their lifetimes. Though men, women and children should look to prevent sunburn entirely, sometimes sunburns occur, making those exposed to too much sun uncomfortable and possibly even dealing with considerable pain. Sunburn is marked by red, sensitive skin that can be hot to the touch. Inflammation and blistering may occur. The Skin Cancer Foundation says that while sunburn may seem like a temporary irritation, it can cause long-lasting damage to the skin. Treating sunburn may require several different approaches. • Get out of the sun the moment you first feel irritation. Your skin may not be red, but irritation may be the first indication that you are being burned by the sun. • Take cool baths or showers to relieve the pain and heat in the skin. Cool, damp towels also can do the trick.
• Use a moisturizing lotion with aloe vera. Avoid moisturizers with petroleum, as they will lock in heat. • The American Academy of Dermatology notes that sunburn may lead to dehydration. Drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated. • Blisters may occur if sunburn is particularly bad. Do not succumb to the temptation of popping the blisters, as doing so may result in an infection. • Take a dose of ibuprofen to reduce swelling and counteract the pain. Ibuprofen also may help prevent some long-term damage. • If a blistering burn covers more than 20 percent of the body, seek medical attention. In addition, visit your physician if a sunburn is accompanied by fever and chills. • Keep sunburn covered up with tightly woven clothing to aid in healing. Sunburn can be painful and increase your risk for skin cancer, so prevention and treatment should be taken seriously.

#MentalHealthMatters: Summertime Sadness
By Ashley Haaser, LPCC-S
Sunny day lovers, now is your time to shine. Summer is in full swing, which means vacations, cookouts, pool parties and an endless supply of ice cream. For some, summer is their favorite time of the year. However, others may experience an increase in sadness. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (2013), while the reported incidence of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in the general population is 4-10 percent, some studies suggest that up to 20 percent of people in the United States may be affected
by a mild form of the disorder. In addition, about one in 10 people who experience SAD actually experience it during the summer as opposed to in the winter, which is more widely recognized. SAD during the winter is believed to be linked to a lack of sunlight, but as research shows, the opposite can be just as problematic: too much sunlight and hotter temperatures may play a role in summertime SAD. Many of the summertime seasonal affective disorder symptoms are similar to typical wintertime presentation, including poor appetite and weight loss, insomnia, irritability, restlessness and anxiety. Summertime SAD
can be complicated; those struggling with SAD may feel pressured from friends and family to participate in activities they don’t have the energy for, and this pressure can exacerbate existing depressive symptoms. Many may feel they need to just “power through it,” because these symptoms can diminish after the summer months. But those living with seasonal depression don’t need to wait for the end of the summer to feel better. There are several steps that can be taken to help manage symptoms. Taking a walk in the evening when it’s cooler outside, keeping a set schedule (disruption to normal routines can increase depressive
symptoms), spending time at a place you enjoy that has air conditioning, and talking to a therapist about your symptoms to explore tools you can learn to manage SAD. While people with Seasonal Affective Disorder may routinely experience several of these symptoms, many other people may experience one or more of these symptoms periodically. Being aware of these tips can help everyone get a little more enjoyment out of their summer. Ashley Haaser, LPCC-S is Director of Emergency and Psychiatric Services at Ravenwood Health.
Maximum Results in Minimal Time at MaxStrength Fitness By Jeff Tomaszewski, ATC, CSCS, MS Most high achieving executives understand quality trumps quantity. It’s true in the products and services they sell. It’s true in customer service and satisfaction. And it’s true for the quality of exercise and instruction. One might assume pursuing improved quality of life requires long, sweaty hours at a loud, stuffy gym, or running nightly against a blustery wind over slushy streets. The opposite is true!
Catering to the Overscheduled
MaxStrength Fitness has effectively solved one of the biggest challenges to an effective exercise program: Time constraints. We cater to the overscheduled, overworked, and the overstressed professional and their families. Our members are the busiest of the busy, such as doctors, lawyers, bankers and more. Our works are designed to provide maximal results in just two 20-minute sessions each week. Even the busiest professional can find 40 minutes a week to devote to themselves to stay strong and healthy.
20 Minutes Two Times a Week
At MaxStrength, it’s just you and your trainer in a calm, meditative environment. This 20-minute, twice a week workout is the safest exercise you’ll ever experience. But it’s also intense in that it pushes you as hard as you’d like to work – but no harder. It’s the intensity of the exercise that magically transforms your body, not the total time spent at the gym. As you grow stronger, you’ll find yourself looking forward to working harder during your next workout, and that’s when you’ll see changes you didn’t think were possible.
What You’ve Got to Lose
Sure, you’re going to lose both weight and inches; that’s a given. But losing 10, 20, even 50 pounds or more (if you have it to lose), might be the least of the benefits you enjoy. Your blood pressure will go down right along with your body fat percentage. Your muscle tone and bone density will increase. Your blood sugar issues may become a thing of the past, and you’ll feel better than you have in years – maybe ever! Call today 440-226-8080 or go to www. maxstrengthfitness.com to request your free initial consultation and demo workout!

How Exercise Reduces Depression, Anxiety and Improves Mental Health By Dr. Adam M. Cramer, PT, DPT While the link between exercise and enhanced physical health is common knowledge, it is also important to recognize how vital exercise is for your mental health. A simple leisurely walk can boost your mood and overall sense of well-being. Recent research involving 419 healthy, middle-aged adults in their study. Each of them had their daily activity monitored over a four-day period. The difference was obvious in those who engaged in just light-intensity activity felt better about themselves and had lower depression. Those who undertook moderate-intensity activity had an even higher sense of well-being in addition to reduced severity of pain. Interestingly enough, those who engaged in vigorous intensity activity, meaning jogging or walking a mile in 13 minutes, reported no impact on their subjective well-being. The researchers concluded that even moderate exercise where people are out and moving but not pushing themselves too hard is actually helpful.
Determining the Right Amount of Physical Exercise
As a doctor of physical therapy, I encourage my patients to keep moving and engage in some form of physical exercise daily. Inevitably the question arises: “How much is right for me and what type of exercise should I do?” In a 2018 study published in “The Lancet Psychiatry,” researchers found that different kinds of team-oriented sports, cycling and aerobic exercise are the most beneficial to
mental health. They observed that almost any kind of exercise can help, up to and including performing childcare, doing housework, cycling, going to the gym and running. The researchers determined the participants who benefited the most in terms of mental health were those who exercised for 30-60 minutes three to five times a week. People who exercised for over three hours a day actually had worse mental health than those who did not exercise at all. When it comes to mental health and exercise, it seems, anything is better than nothing, but too much is worse.
Overall Components of a Healthy Exercise Program
All prescribed exercises are tailored to the specific physical needs of the client after a thorough evaluation is performed. Using a variety of different exercise including flexibility exercises, exercises to improve strength and range of motion, balance and proprioception exercises, exercises for vertigo and dizziness, functional mobility exercises and cardiorespiratory exercises. The person who has trouble walking after total knee replacement surgery needs a different approach than the seasoned athlete who wants to engage in specific sport conditioning. Bottom line: Exercise has a significant impact in improving mental health. Dr. Adam M. Cramer DPT, is a licensed Doctor of physical therapy, exercise specialist and owner of MyoFit Clinic in Chardon and Middlefield. References available at MyoFitClinic.com.

She Looked In Horror, As Her Doctor Said…
“I’m Sorry, We’ve Done All We Can, and You’ll Just Have To Live With The Pain!” Dear Friend,
HERE’S WHAT SOME OF MY PATIENTS HAD TO SAY:
About thirty years ago something happened that changed my life. I had just graduated from Bishop Feehan High School, and I was attending college in New Hampshire, where I was playing football. During my second season I started suffering from lower back pain and tingling and numbness in my left leg. I couldn’t run, at times it was even difficult for me to stand or sit. The doctors prescribed the typical muscle relaxers, pain-killers, and physical therapy. The doctors told me these treatments would help or make it worse. It made the problem worse. After a few weeks of this the pain was so bad, the doctors at UNH sent me for an MRI. The MRI showed a ruptured disc. I had surgery on my lower back. After surgery, I still had a significant amount of pain in my lower back and leg. A friend suggested I see a doctor of chiropractic. “A chiropractor” I said, “Are you crazy?” He explained to me that his whole family uses a doctor of chiropractic regularly for all types of health problems. It all started when his mother was suffering from Headaches and severe dizziness, after she was shuffled around from doctor to doctor and took over 700 pills in one year only to find out her headaches got worse, and after thousands of dollars worth of tests they told her there was nothing more they could do. A friend of hers suggested she try a doctor of chiropractic, and even though she didn’t believe in it, her life was being ruined so she went. After a few treatments her headaches and dizziness were gone. I asked why he went, and he explained to me that his mother didn’t want the rest of the family to grow up with the same problems she had since the neurologist said headaches could be hereditary, besides that, he said nearly every professional athlete in the world like Tom Brady, Jordan Spieth, and every professional team now use a doctor of chiropractic to increase their performance.
“Dr.R. is amazing! I had never seen a chiropractor before, and I realized I waited too long. I had not been walking correctly for years, now after alignments, I’m doing so much better! The staff is very efficient and friendly- and all work together well. Great vibes, great care, great people! Thank you for helping me!” - Julia W. “Absolutely recommend Dr. Roediger! His office and staff are fun and pleasant to be around with a comfortable environment and atmosphere. And his genuine care to help people is the reason I will continue to receive treatments for my neck and keep my migraines away! You guys rock!!!!” – Nathan F. “Both my husband and I go for adjustments and find we are more mobile because of it. For anyone who is afraid of Chiropractors, because of how you have been told it is done, Dr. Roediger goes over everything before you commit to anything. The Activator Method is less invasive and more comfortable on my neck and back”. – Karolyn M. Amazing Offer- When you call and mention this article before August 16, 2019, you can receive my new patient exam for $37. That’s a complete initial exam, Para spinal scan, x-rays if necessary. I will correlate my findings and give you a free consult on recommendations for your condition. This exam could cost you $175 elsewhere. And, “further care” is very affordable if needed, adjustments fee is only $42. You see I’m not trying to seduce you to come see me with this low start up fee, then to only make it up with high fees after that.
I decided to give the chiropractor a try even though I was still a bit skeptical. The doctor did an exam, took a couple of x-rays, and then showed me my problem. I started care, and I couldn’t believe it, the pain started to improve immediately and the leg pain gradually went away over the next couple of weeks. The funny thing is treatment actually felt good. Soon after that I noticed my seasonal allergies also disappeared. I was so excited, I’m sure you guessed it; I became a Doctor of Chiropractic myself.
Incredible service at affordable fees…Please, I hope that there’s no misunderstanding about quality of care. You’ll get professional care that’s affordable. My qualifications…I attended the University of New Hampshire before finishing my Doctorate at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. I’m Advanced Proficiency rated by Activator Methods International. I’ve been entrusted to take care of tiny babies to pro athletes that you may know. My mission is to help more people get care, improve their quality of life, and create a healthy lifestyle.
Just last month I was able to help a young man who was having Migraines. The neurologists told him there was nothing they could do. He was having them almost daily, after his first adjustment he didn’t have one for a couple of days, now he hasn’t had one in over a month.
Our office is convenient, friendly, and there is absolutely no half hour waiting to see the doctor. We are located at 401 South St. Bldg 2A, in Chardon. We are across the street from Bass Lake Tavern. Our phone number is 440-285-0756. Call now for an appointment, and end your suffering!
I am so excited to do what I do for a living; I see these types of things every day in my office. People come to me with all types of health problems from all over Geauga County. I take each case as a personal challenge to get my patients well as fast as possible with as much fun as possible, and teach them that health doesn’t come in a little brown bottle but from within!

The MaxStrength program takes just 20 minutes of your time, only two days a week.
ost high achieving executives understand that quality trumps quantity. It’s true for the products they sell. It’s true for customer service. And it’s true for exercise, asserts Jeff Tomaszewski, owner of MaxStrength Fitness, who has adopted the title of Chief Life Transformer. The title reflects his mission at MaxStrength, he says. “I got into the fitness field because there is no other business I know of that allows you to so profoundly improve the quality of somebody’s life,” Jeff explains. “When you are healthier, stronger and more flexible, everything else in your life changes. You have more energy. You’re more alert at work. You can play with your children or grandchildren without dozing off all the time. You can enjoy retirement without nagging aches and pains.” One might assume that pursuing that improved quality of life requires long, sweaty hours at a loud, obstreperous gym, or running nightly against the blustery wind over slushy streets. But one would be mistaken, Jeff assures. “The two main reasons people train at MaxStrength are the amazing results they experience and the very short interruptions to their lives,” he
says. “Our program takes just 20 minutes of your time, only two days a week. It’s all about the quality of our workout system, not the quantity of time you put in.” So your lunch break is the only time in the day you have to exercise? No sweat. Literally. “You will not sweat when you work out at MaxStrength, and that is by design,” Jeff says. “The perception that you need to sweat for your workout to be successful is completely false. On the contrary, like a car engine, a cool body works more efficiently than an overheated body. That’s why we keep our training room at 65 degrees. We want to dissipate body heat very quickly, so if you start to sweat we crank up a fan to cool you off. That’s why our clients can go straight to the office without showering after a workout.” The MaxStrength workout, Jeff summarizes, yields a strong return on your investment. “The program is based on pushing your muscles to high levels of fatigue, to a pointwhere they can do no more, in a condensed period of time,” he explains. Our workout is safe and just about anybody can do it, from a professional athlete to an 85-year-old woman with a hip and a knee replacement. Serious business people who have had their work interrupted by an outdated computer or a slow network connection understand the importance of quality equipment. Specially designed, computerized resistance training machines are the key to the MaxStrength workout. “The unique machines provide the maximum resistance training for muscle strength, cardiovascular conditioning and overall health and wellness,” Jeff emphasizes. “They are designed to make muscles work hard, but without dangerous jerking that can result in injuries to your joints. Most gym training can make injuries worse. Our job is to fix people, not break them.” “Our workout is safe and just about anybody can do it, from a professional athlete to an 85-year-old woman with a hip and a knee replacement,” he says. “It’s not uncommon for our clients to double or triple their strength in a short period of time. When you increase your strength that much you profoundly increase your functional ability throughout the day. You can have less joint pain, more alertness and other benefits. Strength training is the foundation of youth.” To find out how your professional, efficient workout can result in a happier, healthier lifestyle, you can schedule your complimentary consultation with MaxStrength Fitness, at 4212 St. Rt. 306, in Willoughby.
