Ole Könnecke was born in 1961 and spent his childhood in Sweden. He now works as a freelance illustrator and lives with his family in Hamburg, Germany. His books have won many major awards throughout Germany, including a nomination for the Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis (German Youth Literature Prize).
