HYMN
Christ, Be Our Light!
1. Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see.
Refrain Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
2. Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has pow’r to save us. Make us your living voice.
Refrain
© Words & Music Bernadette Farrell 1993.
3. Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed.
Refrain
4. Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, walls made of living stone.
Refrain
5. Many the gifts, many the people, many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, making your kingdom come.
Refrain

HYMN
How Great Thou Art
1. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed!
Refrain
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee:
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee: How great thou art, how great thou art!
2. When through the woods and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze,
Refrain
3. And when I think that God, his son not sparing,
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin!
Refrain
4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, “My God, how great thou art!”
Refrain
Mr Sandy Mackinnon, Chaplain Timbertop
As our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are confident to pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer
1. Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty: hold me with thy powerful hand: bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore, feed me now and evermore.
2. Open now the crystal fountain whence the living waters flow: let the fiery, cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through: strong deliverer, strong deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield, be thou still my strength and shield.
3. When I tread the verge of Jordan bid my anxious fears subside; death of death, and hell’s destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side: songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to thee, I will ever give to thee.
Music: John Hughes 1873-1932
Words: William Williams 1717-91 tr. Peer Williams 1722-96 and William Williams alt.
Creator of Heaven and Earth, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Send upon us you Holy Spirit, That we may learn to be wise By loving you, and our neighbour, In this school of the Lord’s service. Amen.
The Most Rev’d Dr Philip Freier, Archbishop of Melbourne

Points for all events will range up in steps of 1 from last place. 1 point for disqualified, did not finish or fouled at each attempt in the field events. 0 points for no competitor.
In each event, athletes will be awarded points for their performance based on the Athletics Australia Achievement Awards scoring tables. The points from the best three events will be totalled. In each age group, the competitor with the highest total will be awarded the Championship. The second best will be the Runner-up.
Presentations will be made in front of the Tunbridge Pavilion shortly after the last event.
The GGS Athletics team is named in honour of John Landy AC CVO MBE (M’48), who died in February 2022. John was one of the world’s greatest middle distance runners, whose footraces became folklore. He was the second man to break the four-minute mile, held world records for the 1500-metre and the mile, and represented Australia at two Olympic Games.
The John Landy Squad trains regularly during Athletics Season in preparation for the Combined APS Athletics at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday 19 October.
The John Landy Award for Athlete of the Year for 2023 was presented to Eric Qiu (Yr9 TT).
