FOLK ALLIANCE AUSTRALIA ExCHANGE

CONFERENCE

The ExChange is a two-day network and showcase conference for the Australia and New Zealand music industry, produced by Folk Alliance International in partnership with the Port Fairy Folk Festival. It focuses on economic development, industry partnerships and professional development for musicians, arts workers and those interested in folk music and culture. Australian showcase artists include Alana Wilkinson, Benny Walker, Emily Wurramara, Fenn Wilson, Saije and The Maes. International artists performing as a part of the event include The East Pointers (CAN), The Jellyman’s Daughter (SCO), Ian Sherwood (CAN) and many more. In addition special feature artists include Eleanor McEvoy (IRL), Marcia Howard & Shane Howard.

WORLD POETRY DAY

Declared by UNESCO in 1999, World Poetry Day is designed to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world. This is Geelong Regional Libraries’ 10th year of celebrating World Poetry Day, this year recognising the achievements of local poets including David McCooey, Jo Langdon, Cameron Lowe, Maria Takolander and Melbourne poet, Rose Lucas. The event will feature introductions by local poet and author of three novels, John Bartlett. Bookings required.

EXPLORE THE YOU YANGS AND SERENDIP SANCTUARY

Parks Victoria Ranger Ebonee Cook will share insights into the history, activities and programs at two of Lara's local parks. Serendip Sanctuary features grasslands and wetlands, and is home to a rich and diverse array of birds and mammals. The sanctuary contributes to the conservation of vulnerable and endangered Victorian animals, including the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, through dedicated breeding programs. You Yangs Regional Park has distinctive granite peaks and is a significant site for the local Wadawurrung people.

Feminist Writers Festival is back with a clutch of authors from the anthology, Kindred: 12 Queer #LoveOzYA Stories. What does it mean to be queer in Australia? What does it mean to be human?

FINDING AND WRITING YOURSELF – A WORKSHOP WITH NEVO ZISIN

Join Nevo Zisin, author of award-winning Finding Nevo for a workshop that tackles gender diversity, self-love and finding your voice. Nevo will discuss their own lived experience as a non-binary transgender person and investigate concepts of reclaiming one's story through writing. Participants will explore their own relationships with gender, their bodies, and discover new tools for self-exploration and accessing authenticity. Participants will be required to bring a pitch idea or outline or a piece of writing to share in the workshop. This workshop is open to women and non-binary writers. Tickets: $60. Workshop participants gain free entry to the panel session.

KINDRED PANEL – QUEER LIFE, COMMUNITY AND ALL THE FEELS
