Breaking the Ice may be performed as a separate piece, or in conjunction with Between Sky and Sea.
PLACEMENT
Arktis Arktis! is inspired by a journey to the high Arctic. I spent a month on an icebreaker up in the north of Canada. Many thanks to Swedish Polar Research for letting me join the Tundra Northwest Expedition in summer 1999.

Commissioned by the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra
World premiere The 1st movement was premiered in Örebro in March 2000, the 1st and 2nd movement were played in Edinburgh in the autumn the same year, and in 2001 the entire Arktis Arktis! was performed in Sweden and the United Kingdom. Conductors: Thomas Dausgaard in Örebro, Joseph Swensen in Edinburgh.
