Editor’s Comment Who can believe its April already? 2014 is ﬂying by, it’s been a busy year already with more exciting plans unfolding as we go forward. We’re delighted that some of our longest standing partners are developing with the market, introducing new innovative products such as the new All-in-One Media Keyboard from Microsoft who launched their ﬁrst ever mouse on the 2nd May 1983. John Dunn

Hi Guys, what are the POS & packaging services Exertis Gem offer and what is your involvement? Scott: We offer a wide variety of conceptual, design and packaging solutions for vendors with in-store retail marketing needs.

Which project are you most proud of and which has been the toughest? Scott: Being relatively new to Exertis Gem, designing for global brands has been really interesting. Also being part of the Xbox One launch was a massive buzz.

Having spent a number of years establishing relationships with various manufacturers, we are able to produce high quality design and print services for all our brands.

John: Both the toughest and proudest would have to be the involvement with the launch of Xbox One. Being a completely new console, it gave us a really blank canvas for fresh ideas in terms of retail and bundling. That, coupled with the hype surrounding a new generation, just made it a great project to be part of.

John: Our roles involve producing anything from bespoke FSDUs or counter displays, to packaging that stands out from the competition and maximises product potential in-store. Can you tell us more about what your role entails? John: Creating designs, both bespoke and from ideas already in place, usually to a tight deadline and to sets of strict guidelines. My role also involves the continued support as Microsoft’s dedicated designer within Exertis Gem. Scott: Away from the design, there is a lot of corresponding with both the client and print house throughout a project, starting from the initial brief right through to print and production. Our involvement doesn’t stop at the artwork.
