The jubilant atmosphere has well and truly captured Gem in the same way that it has our nation over the past few months and this month it’s only going to get better. I’m sure many of you will be celebrating 60 years of the Queens reign in style, or simply enjoying the extra bank holiday; either way it’s certainly created a buzz within our retail channel. The Diamond Jubilee has provided endless opportunities for limited editions; I’m sure you’ll have all seen the Great British Mouse from Microsoft featured on page 14; not only is it perfect for travel with Bluetrack Technology, but also looks fantastically British.

I’ve joined a great business with great people, who have all played their part in helping drive the success of our business over recent years. We have some excellent brand partners within our portfolio and I am genuinely excited about the future and confident we will continue to add strong consumer brands and products to our customer partners. Describe yourself in 3 words Dedicated, Pragmatic & Generous

What was your first role? Have you always been on the path to Purchasing and Procurement? My first full time role was Inventory Planner and my last prior to joining Gem was Director of Purchasing, although along the way I have also held marketing and brand/product management roles. Having responsibility for our purchasing and vendor management functions allows me to draw on all of my past experiences, and help ensure we continue to deliver added value to our vendor relationships. If you had to host a dinner party and could invite anyone, who would you invite and why? John Lennon (genius), Marilyn Monroe (sexy), Robert De Niro (good fella), Muhammad Ali (legend), Peter Kay (hilarious) and my wife (obviously)
