Your wedding can be planned any way that you want and it’s important that your plan your day around what is most important to you both. Here is a glance at some element that you can include in your day. Getting ready is such a fun part of your day and I love photographing all your details that have been months in planning. Its good to keep the space where you are getting ready clutter free and calm so you can chill out and have the best start to your day. Zen and craic is the vibe to aim for...
The most important part of your day, becoming a married couple and publicly committing yourself to each other in front of your family and friends… unless you’re planning to elope which I have to admit is on my photography wish list, just saying’.
Coverage here will depend on your officiant, ask them what their policy is on photography during your ceremony. You might also consider an unplugged ceremony where you guests put away their camera and be present in the moment with you. After your ceremony is a great time to get family group shots when everyone is together.
This is a part of your day that if you want to include needs a minimum of 30 minutes. Most couples love having a few minutes together in the quiet to let the buzz of the day sink in. your day will fly by in a blur and it’s good to take the opportunity to slow down and create some beautiful, relaxed portraits. It’s a good idea to get the bridal party together then send them off to the reception so you can focus on each other. Light is such an important element in creating beautiful images so we might split our time up and make the most of the best light which is usually the hour before sunset. I might suggest going out quickly perhaps between dinner and dessert for this.
While you greet your guests, I’ll be mingling around capturing the laughter and craic and all the little things that you might not get a chance to take in. The reactions and laughter especially when it comes to speech time can be fab to look back through.
If there are any guests that you particularly want included in candid images throughout your day, it’s so helpful to let me know in advance who they and where they will be sitting.
Capturing your first dance is a beautiful way of rounding off the story of your wedding day and are fantastic final mages to include in your wedding album. Put your wedding shoes on and have a wee practice in the kitchen in the run up to the big day and that will help if there are any first dance nerves. If you want to make an impression you might even consider going along to a dance class to brush up on your moves.
With full day coverage I’ll be there to capture the mad shapes on the dancefloor. After your first few dances, I might suggest spending a few minutes of night time portraits and incorporate some creative lighting which is always exciting. I hope this brief run through helps. We'll sit down in advance of your wedding day and do full timeline and shot list of which photos you want and who you want in them- this means that we are doing everything we can to let your day run smoothly and give you and your new spouse the time to soak up your wedding day and enjoy it all!
