community house architect | kirke værløse denmark sketch proposal In Laandshøj woods on the top of a hill, an old water tower and a buried bunker have almost become one with the forest. It’s here in the northern part of the old Værløse Airbase that the Laanshøj Common House will be established. The common house aims to benefit everyone in the area, by housing an array of different activities, in various combinations. The community house blends gracefully into the landscape by following the existing topography of the wooded area. From east to west, the forest floor path flows uninterrupted over the house’s roofscape, creating both a vantage and meeting point, while the woodland’s visual connection continues internally from north to south, through large glass facadescreating a sense of flow through the common house, down the hill and out into the forest. The spaces in and around the common house, are described using three main themes: community, sharing and movement. Community is cultivated by offering an attractive welcoming space for residents to gather round. Sharing is based on the common house’s multi-functionality, wherein it is possible for many different user groups to inhabit the space simultaneously. Movement is important for all age groups and the common house creates potential spaces for play and exercise in, over and around the house. In this way everybody has the possibility to practice movement. role | architect | 10 - 11 2017 Initial sketch design phase. Involved from kick-off of project, from concept development to the presentation of the proposal to our client. Some of my responsibilities included: working as the project architect reporting to the department head. skraldedariet architect | bornholm sketch proposal BOFA –Bornholm’s waste processing facility- wants to supplement its existing learning platform ‘The waste tower’ with a new building “Skraldedariet”. The vision for Skraldedariet is to create a inspiring physical framework that combines a practical workshop space with an integrated exhibition of reused materials, highlighting the processes of the circular economy. Skraldedariet embraces the concept of circularity on three different scales; in the Bornholm island scale, the building invites local schools to experiment with resource management, as well as activating Bornholm’s local businesses and labour by using local material and building skills. In the BOFA site scale, the building frames the area’s existing waste sorting route using a transparent structure, creating a visual connection to the surrounding waste material piles, waste tower, heating plant etc. The building also retells the site’s history as a landfill, through an archaeological section of the buried landfill layers, where visitors can observe the preserved garbage of the past. Finally, in the project scale skraldedariet is constructed using local waste material, and collections of waste fractions, revived as beautiful building materials, allowing the entire building to become a narrative catalog of the possibilities of waste - both in the form of building parts, but also through an integrated exhibition of waste material processing.

upcycled timber acoustic facade panel architect | malmo concept + mock up design Epic Skanska panels are a product developed through a collaboration between Lendager Arc and Lendager Up, to create a sustainable acoustic panel cladding for the 6-storey central atrium space of Epic Skanska the construction group Skanka’s newly built headquarters in Malmö, Sweden. For this project recovered timber window frames from demolished houses, upcycled pet plastic bottles and MDF made from metro construction waste wood, are transformed into exclusive acoustic panels. Normally the timber would have been sent for incineration as construction waste, but for this product the materials are reprocessed and thus given a fresh start. The finished panels are treated with ecologically pigmented linden oil and are attached to silencing PET felt made from recycled plastic from discarded plastic bottles. The sound-absorbing material is produced with 100 percent of recycled materials, and represents a CO 2 saving of 1.5 kg CO 2 per kg recycled plastic. The panels’ dynamic timber pattern is guided by the sizes of the available window frames, cut to free the timber material in the most efficient way possible. The pattern’s kinetic combination of vertical and horizontal stacking is designed to break up the atriums’ large swathes of façade (1,420m 2), and to create a sense of movement, drawing the eye over and across the space. role | project architect | 12 2017 - 02 2018 Initial concept design phase. Involved from kick-off of project, from concept development to the presentation of the proposal and 1.1 mock-up to our client. Some as my responsibilities included: working as the project architect reporting to the department head, in a design team of 2 with a student worker. communtiy house architect | Nærheden DK concept design Nærheden fælleshus is a community centre for Teglværkskvarteret, Nærheden’s new mixed development of family and senior housing.Nærheden fælleshus is an essential component in growing the young neighbourhood’s sense of community and fellowship. The community house will act as a flexible framework for a broad variety of interests and be the catalyst for the development of good relations between residents. This flexibility of use is reflected in the organisation of the project, where a central common space is surrounded by various programs of movement, hobby and living, with more private functions situated on the second floor. The open connection between these spaces - as well as between the interior and exterior allows for a varied and versatile mix of uses. Nærheden fælleshus is envisioned as ‘a big house for a big family’, and as such invokes the feeling of a scaled-up summer house, with a large pitched roof overhanging an open ground floor and terrace, symbolising a shared space for the community. The structure is made using upcycled timber giving the space a light and open, rustic feeling. The area’s history of roof tile production is referenced in the roof façade’s use of upcycled terracotta tiles, using a mix of roof tile varieties to create a unique expression of local materiality.

islands brygge skole architect | copenhagen competition phase one Competition entry for a new middle school to be location in Islands Brygge, Copenhagen. The project seeks to provide flexible and adaptive learning spaces, along with outdoor facilities, laid out in a playful way. The Learning bridge acts as a link between the different characteristics of city and surrounding architecture within the Islands Brygge context. The south east side the building playfully steps down, towards Artillerivej, the existing community area and public square, while towards the North, it grows taller to match the adjoining built context. The prominent roof terraces function as the outdoor space for the school. Each terrace is linked to an interior subject or common area, and forms an outdoor extension to the inner learning platforms.

k b hallen architect | frederiksberg detail design phase When the K.B. Hall burned down in 2011 Frederiksberg Municipality lost an iconic building. Since its inauguration in 1938, the functionalist style building has played host to some of the world´s most famous sports names, musicians and politicians, such as Winston Churchill and the Beatles. The new concept modernizes the spirit of the original K.B. Hall, while updating the sports complex surrounding it. The unique new façade and materiality, define the proposal as an iconic, cultural building, which also hints of its functional program of housing; concerts, shows and events. The hall’s capacity is expanded by 4.900. While the area around the entrance space becoming an active urban court for general public use, with both benches and outdoor fitness possibilities. Additional tennis courts and football fields will surround the new hall, creating a strong connection between the hall’s interior and exterior facilities and changing rooms.

Skating hall Hørsholm architect | Hørsholm DK competition phase one The new ice rink training hall for Hørsholm sports park, continues the long tradition of ice sports in Hørsholm Rungsted, from the amateur to the elite level. Hørsholm sports park is a place where many pass by daily, on route to group events or individual training, causing to the area around the new ice rink to become a significant meeting point. Due to the new developments placement in front of the existing ice rink, the ice rink will become an important marker of the entrance to Hørsholm sports park. It is therefore important to prioritise that the ice training hall gets a ‘public face’ which is worthy of its context and ice sports tradition. As an icon for the sports park and as a marker will give extra character and identity to the area. role | architect | 04 - 05 2017 Competition phase one working as an architect in a design team of four Some as my responsibilities included: being involved during execution of project concept, working on volume studies, plan design, façade design and presentation drawings and graphics for the competition delivery.

the krane architect | nordhavn detail phase Transformation of Nordhavn Unionkul crane structure into single room hotel, sauna and meeting space. Three distinct program functions expressed with contrasting materiality are joined by the 1942 crane’s existing ladders and platforms. THE KRANE is an aesthetic oasis amidst an industrial landscape on the edge of Nordhavn, one of the last harbours under renovation in Denmark’s capital. The concept builds on the project’s dark past as a crane for loading coal by using black as the colour scheme throughout. Fostering a soothing sense of serenity inside this multi-tiered structure comprised of a reception area on the ground floor, a meeting room called the GLASS BOX on the first floor, a spa and terrace on the second floor, and a retreat on top called the KRANE ROOM with a lounge and terrace. It reflects Denmark’s less-is-more stance on luxury, where anything extraneous is eliminated favouring only what’s essential. Inside, the subdued black interior sets the scene like a picture frame for the unobstructed views over Copenhagen and beyond. role | architect | 05 - 07 2016 Projektering and construction phase. Involved in the detailed design phase of project layout and materiality Some as my responsibilities included: working with plan layout of hotel room and sauna spaces, use of visualisations for interior material studies, production and delivery of graphic book for client’s promotional purposes.

fairground project, lego office architect | billund phase two The Fairground Project is a sustainable office building, which is intended as a kit of building blocks. In the short term based sustainability recycling as one or more buildings elsewhere in the world. In the long term the materials in the building reused as raw materials in a circular system that ensures minimal environmental impact. The systemic thinking is the building’s DNA. It creates an architecture of expression and spatial experiences tells the story of a stacked system. A simplicity with many options, variations and surprises. The façade is created using playful stacking, repetition and variation. Facade frames are determined by the relationship between a container width and height of the building. Selected sites are standard module broken and larger frames show specific features behind the facade.

slagelse bro architect | slagelse sketch proposal Sketch proposal for pedestrian bridge to connect Slagelse bus station and park and ride with Slagelse train station and its future new campus urban space. The bridge’s dual function as a connection for both the city and the train station is expressed in its form, which is a combination of a straight and a curved path. The straight path is the fastest route across the train tracks and serves the station’s platforms. The curved path is longer, the climb is gentler, and it lands further out, in the new urban spaces north and south of the railway tracks. The bridge is expressed as a single construction using primarily glass and Corten steel. The steel’s colour responds to both the area’s brick heavy red and the rough infrastructure of the railway. role | architect | 03 2016 Initial sketch design phase. Involved from kick-off of project, from concept development to the delivery of the proposal to our client. Some as my responsibilities included: working as the project architect reporting to a partner, working with concept development, area analyse, height and access calculations, volume studies, structure studies, plan design, materiality studies, façade design, presentation graphics and layout, and delivery of graphic booklet to clients.

lysskoven social housing architect | beauvaisgrunden competition phase one Phase one competition for Boligforeningen 3B to design 6,700m 2 of social housing divided between three structures. Lysskoven seeks to preserve and add to the existing green woods quailty of the abandoned Beauvaisgrunden lot. We sought to dissolve the boundaries between the built city and nature. Using an expanded significant green strategy to offer the community quality spaces at all levels, from ground to roof. The project describes a wide range of community development opportunities and potential meeting places. Instead of specifying an almost predetermined finished program content, the housing and woods gently suggest how to occupy their spaces, through combinations of the qualities of shelter, light and air. role | architect | 11 - 12 2015 Competition phase one, working as lead designer in a team of 4, in collaboration with Sted landscape architects Some as my responsibilities included: working with concept development, area analyse, volume studies, plan design, upcycled façade design, presentation graphics, layout, and participating in design meetings and presentations, and delivering competition handin.

carlsvogen børnehave internship | frederiksberg, copenhagen phase one Frederiksberg Kommune wishes to expand Carlsvogen kindergarten’s capacity from 80 to 182 children, while raising the standard of the institution’s physical environment. The area’s master plan required the villa-typology be retained and the project’s program’s to take advantage of the site’s green qualities. The new building volume placed on the east side of the site, ensures a sunny garden and a good connection to the road and existing villa. Using circular slices in the building mass creates distance between the essential trees and villas, while forming five gables in a scale related to the two existing villa gables. The new building retains a residential scale, with gables punctuated by green niches. role | intern | 08 2014 - 01 2015 Working as an intern for a tendered project, for both the initial design phase and the detailed design phase. Some as my responsibilities included: working with concept development, area analyse, volume studies, model production, roof plan design, façade materiality and expression, and participating in design meetings and presentations, and participating in site visits and meetings with the clients and producing final materials for the clients.

space

Dublin’s urban waste land phenomenon has its genesis in obsession with the myopic and individualistic pursuit of land ownership and the ignorance of the value of land for a healthy and humane society. Due to irresponsible speculation, Dublin’s inner city sites have remained underdeveloped or derelict, new land was acquired and exploited leading to limitless sub-urban sprawl, inadequate infrastructure and a fragmented, dysfunctional urban environment – a wasteland. This project aims to identify the problems and potentials caused by vacant and derelict spaces within Dublin
