iPoPP: GlobalSchoolNet and eLanguages join forces GlobalSchoolNet.org and eLanguages.org have joined forces to offer educators iPoPP, a state-ofthe-art, worldwide e-learning platform, for multi-lingual, project-driven collaboration.
iPoPP -- which stands for International Projects or Partners Place -- is where educators and youth from around the world can find global learning projects and partners. iPoPP will combine the best elements from GlobalSchoolNet and eLanguages into one unified environment designed to improve student academic achievement, prepare young people for the workforce, and give youth essential skills to become responsible global citizens. iPoPP gives educators a supportive community and easy-to-use tools that embrace the constructivist learning methodology, project-management principles, and future thinking strategies.
"Everyone is talking about the importance of collaboration, yet every day billions of children still learn in isolation," says Dr. Yvonne Marie Andres, founder and President of GlobalSchoolNet. "In an increasingly flat world, our youth will face intense competition that is bound to have enormous social and economic implications. Young people need to develop global perspectives on important issues such as economics, business, technology, environment, diplomacy, and culture, within safe, teacher -directed learning activities. Educators need support and mentoring to transition from traditional onsite learning to blended learning environments."
The iPoPP will offer integrated collaboration tools (such as secure document sharing, discussion forums, blogs, vlogs, and web publishing) to allow participants in remote learning communities to collaborate, learn together, share data, review and evaluate each others work, and maintain a record of learning accomplishments. iPoPP's project management tools will help teachers develop project goals, objectives, timelines and benchmarks; manage project registration and participation; and automate critical group communication tasks. iPoPP projects will offer unique evaluation and peer review components that will help to inform decisions by stakeholders related to assessing, planning and implementing online collaborative learning at the classroom, school, district and country levels.
“For sure iPoPP will be the most fantastic online educational environment out there for educators and youth around the world. Our all-in-one, no-nonsense approach will provide educators with the best tools and supportive community,” says Ralph Genang, founder of eLanguages. “Together with our teams, Yvonne and I are looking forward to seeing many exciting educational collaborations using iPoPP. The world may be flat but iPoPP has lots of fizz!”
