BRED HEIFERS

On January 17, 2023, Tyler Patterson, our beloved cattleman, husband, father, and son was killed at the young age of 33 in a devastating plane crash in Yoakum, TX. Tyler is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Emme), daughter Elsie (3 years old), and son JB (1 year old). Tyler's deep love for raising cattle began at a very young age, and his enthusiasm was supported and encouraged by his grandfather ("Pop") and his parents. He spent his early life in Clanton, AL as an active member of the FFA (eventually serving as the president of his chapter) and 4H. Many of his most cherished memories and life lessons were made while showing cattle with his family and friends. Soon after graduating from Mississippi State University, Tyler moved to the west TN area and began slowly working on the genetic improvement of his childhood herd, while judging for the local 4H shows in his free time. Over the past 8 years, Tyler, Emme, and his father, Derick, spent many chilly Thanksgiving weeks AI-ing the gentle herd. Calving season was eagerly anticipated in the Patterson household! Tyler was just beginning to gain traction with his herd advancement, with the recent calf crop consisting primarily of 3/4 and purebred calves. He had also just begun to implement embryo transfer into the plans, with his first two ET calves born in 2022. It is a total heartbreak for his family to see his life and efforts on this earth end so painfully soon. It is also the sincere hope and desire of Emme and family to see his beloved cow herd transferred into the caring hands of others like Tyler, who will appreciate these animals and integrate them into their own programs. His family is thankful for the genuine kindness of the cattle community.
