The sun literally rises and sets on cattle every day of our lives. From the farm to the vet clinic, to the kids showing, there isn’t a day that goes by that a cow does not influence how our life is going. And so often we forget about the beauty and joy these animals bring to our family. We get caught up in the rat race of calving, vaccinating, breeding, washing, clipping and so on. Sometimes these critters bring out the worst in us, especially when they absolutely will not go through the chute like we think they should or when Eric misses the one animal you needed him to sort off. But then you look out in the pasture and see a view like this- you are quickly reminded of how incredibly blessed we are that we get to live this life every single day. We get to raise our children in this industry- where friends become family and a hobby becomes a passion. We would like to welcome all of you to the 11th edition of the Buckles and Banners Sale and want to extend a HUGE thank you to all the folks that help us get ready for this event, throughout the year and more specifically the crazy few months leading up to the sale. We have another exciting group of show heifer prospects that have tons of potential! Not quite as many bred females this time, but plenty of quality in that division! The live lots are accompanied by some genetic opportunities that we feel are out of our best donors and could offer an impressive impact on you program. I can’t think of a better way to start off the sale than with the option to buy genetics out of a female we are super excited about and has the potential to be not only a herd changer, but a breed changer. We purchased “Betty” from our long-time friends, the Bloomberg family, and our son, Jaren has had incredible success showing her this year. The cow families in her pedigree are as famous as we can make them. Her phenotype and soundness, combined with the extra stoutness and bone structure are simply incredible. She was Calf Champion in both Kansas City and Louisville last fall, she won 6 supreme female titles on the jackpot series and was recently awarded Reserve Grand Champion Female at the Iowa State Fair. She is bred to calve the first of the year and we are offering one IVF cycle guaranteeing 6 transferable embryos. Work will be done here at (LCVC) with Trans Ova, at the buyers’ expense. I am incredibly excited about this female in our program and can’t wait to see what she could do in your program.

Lots 2-4: These 3 maternal sisters are out of our cornerstone Scarlet donor cow. We have sold several daughters out of Scarlet and have had loads of success with the bulls out of her, but I guarantee these are the best 3 we have offered. Sired by 3 different very successful bulls, they are all a little different in their type and kind, but they all have tremendous quality. You choose the one you like best and fits your program. Definitely worth the trip if you are looking for a purebred Simmental for Junior Nationals in Des Moines next summer!

These females possess great struc ture, they are big ribbed, and have that show me look we all desire when looking for our next show heifer or donor. This mating to the great SO Remedy 7F and our donor HPF Empriss E010 have really clicked already producing a high seller this fall at our friend Neil Thompson’s Revolution sale. If you are in the market for big time show prospect, we think you need to see these 3 females. They are worth the drive to West Point.

D14k is what I would consider a total outcross and will give the new owners a wide verity of breeding option to build an entirely new genetic base. D14K possesses a unique combination of phenotype and a genetic evaluation that consist of her being in the top 15% of the breed for API and top 20% for TI. This heifer is supper quite incredibly tame with a great personality that any level showman will appreciate. LTS would like to retain the option of one successful flush if we so choose that would con sist of a minimum of 6 transferable eggs at the buyers convenience and our expense, or split two flushes with the new owners. With this combination of look and high EPD numbers this heifer will be competitive at the National Jr. Show in Des Moines this summer.

Here is a maternal sister to last years heifer that Kolby Bailey purchased and was sec ond in her class at the Iowa state fair open show. This Relentless baldy heifer is super attractive in her profile and has a ton of future and outcome to her. When the opportunity came up for us to partner on what we feel is truly one of the great donor females in our breed, Miss Time To Shine Y251 with XTB we knew we could not miss out on owning this donor. We are super excited on the impact Y251 is having in our program. B&K/ IVS Time To Shine 251K and 58K are a pair of females we have loved since birth. 40HK is a beautiful April black baldy female that came to us on the side of a Deplor able Anchor/Time To Shine first calf heifer we purchased this spring from our friends XTB. This female is out of the great GSV Savage loaded with pedigree and style to burn. We feel this female will be a favorite of many on sale day. She has power, is great on the move, and the look of a champion. Be sure to find this black baldy on sale day we think you will love her too.

I try to leave the long footnotes for Jeff Thompson, but Scooter begged me to write this one for him. He has been pretty busy talking and taking Snapchats on his phone, so I will tell you the short story about this one. I liked this heifer calf and her mother last spring at Owen Bros. Sale and told Scooter she was a mustbuy. So, he got permission from Kori and since he makes more money than I do, they purchased the pair. This Sandman daughter has just continued to do all of the right things this fall, and I think she has big-time show heifer written all over her. She is stouter-featured than your typical Angus which I appreciate, while still being impeccable on her feet and legs. Killer look with loads of potential…. And since Kori and Scooter have a baby on the way, all bids are appreciated!!

Breeding Guarantee

Cattle will sell under the standard terms and conditions recommended by the American Simmental Association.

We guarantee all livestock sold are sound breeders. However, the heifers that are shown can often be fed to an extreme level of obesity for the purpose of exhibition. In those cir cumstances, the heifers are often not allowed to be bred in ideal conditions due to the priority of continuous exhibition and are typically bred later to lengthen their possibility of exhibition. Due to this we will hold the feeder/owner responsible for any reproductive problems and no longer feel responsible to guarantee that individual heifer. In the rare case this was to occur, the Buckles and Banners consignors will make an attempt to assist and help you breed the heifer through the following two breeding seasons.

Also, all bred females are sold under the condition “safe in calf,” as attested by a li censed veterinarian and sell with no further guarantee. The ultrasound results reported are as accurate as possible, but are not guaranteed. No guarantee is given that bred fe males will deliver a live calf. The buyer will be given a 24 hour option to have a licensed veterinarian examine the female before she leaves the sale premises.

Sexed semen lots come with no guarantee. We only guarantee the female was exposed to sexed semen.
