Welcome
Moser Ranch
Welcome to our Family’s Bull Sale!
Thank you for taking time to look over our 26th bull offering. “Change” and God, as we have repeated in several welcome letters over the years, are the only constants in our lives. So, 2017 has seen some changes here at Moser Ranch. Going from a February sale to a November sale back in 2006, and then from a live auction to a video auction in 2009, and then adding the online feature in 2011 (which we ARE NOT having in 2017), selling our bulls in 2017 will include yet another change that has evolved as a result of us wanting to simplify life here on Moser Ranch. We have changed the sale format for marketing our bulls. The “Cattleman’s Auction” will be an easier, less formal situation for purchasing your breeding stock. By giving you at the very minimum an hour to bid, and re-bid, you don’t have to make your decision in a two-to-three minute window. The bulls will speak for themselves. 35 years of breeding functional cattle has gotten us to this point today. All of the data you need to make an informed decision is here. Additional information that will “flesh out” many topics in the catalog can be found on our website: moserranch.com Just click on the “2017 Sale Info” tab at the top of our homepage and it will direct you to everything concerning this sale. If you need more clarification on anything at all, whether it’s something in the catalog or on the website, please give us a call. 785.396.4328 Home 785.456.3101 Harry Cell 785.456.3876 Lisa Cell 785.317.0689 Rex Cell

We are excited about our offering and our new marketing format. We are also very pleased to announce that Good Farms Angus, Olsburg, KS, approached us this past summer, and we are honored to have them join our sale with January-March Angus bull calves. Thanks for considering Moser Ranch and Good Angus genetics. Come by anytime before sale day to look at the bulls, and we’ll see you on November 11th. Sincerely, The Moser, Michaelis, Josefiak and Good Families
Good Farms Angus Greetings!
Good Farms Angus is honored to be a part of the Moser Ranch 26th annual bull sale, this year featuring their new sale format, the “Cattleman’s Auction.” We greatly value the fact that our families share the same principles in the way we do business and the purpose with which we are breeding cattle. We are pleased to offer to cattlemen a set of young bulls that we feel reflect our goal of producing sound, performance oriented, practical cattle. We hope that you will see in this set of bulls what we have been striving to produce for the past 56 years.

The Cattleman’s Auction Format New for 2017! Our bulls will be offered through the “Cattleman’s Auction” Format
1. Please come for coffee and donuts sale day morning and view Bulls in the Pens at the Barn. They will be penned as in the past: Purebred Simmental - PINK HIP TAGS SimAngus - GREEN HIPTAGS Angus - WHITE HIP TAGS 2. Register for a buyer number in our tack room as usual. 3. Enjoy lunch and the Cattleman’s Auction with us in the cattle barn. This year we’re doing homemade soups; Calico Beans, Knefla (German-Dakota Chicken Noodle), and Vegetable Beef. As always, there will be plates and plates of homemade cookies & bars. 4. When you arrive at Moser Ranch on sale day, in the barn you will find a board with a base starting price-for November 11th only-for each bull. 5. Cattleman’s Auction begins promptly at 1:00 pm. Simply approach the bidding table and turn in your bids on the bull(s) you’re interested in to any of our 6 to 8 bid takers that will be in front of the bidding board. 6. Your Buyer Number and your Bid Amount will be written on a card by the bid taker and hung on the appropriate Lot Number on the peg board so you are clearly identified as having that particular bid on a bull at that moment in time. Should another person outbid you, you are free to bid again, and again, as often as you like/need to own the bull of your choice. 7. Bids will be accepted in $250 increments during the 1PM – 2PM bidding period. With 6 to 8 bid takers, you shouldn’t have to wait in line long, if at all, to place your bids. 8. BID AS OFTEN AS YOU LIKE, but please remember you are responsible for all final bids you have placed. 9. You will have from 1PM – 2PM to bid. Watch in real time what is happening to the bulls you want to own, and take that hour to make your bidding choices. 10. Please remember we will have call-in bids, and folks who have left bids with us to place on the board, just like our auctions in past years. 11. At 2PM, the FINAL BID OFF WILL BEGIN.
12. The Final Bid Off will begin with the five most popular bulls-those that have had the most bidding activity on the peg board. 13. You can gather on the bleachers and we will physically ask if there are any more bids on each bull. At this time, everyone will have a chance to raise their bid by VOICING a bid(s) if they wish to do so as we go through the FINAL BID OFF of all bulls. 14. Vocal bids of $250 or $100 will be accepted during the FINAL BID OFF. 15. We will move through the bulls during the bid off at a fairly brisk pace to finalize all sales. 16. Once these five bulls sell, we will go through the remaining bulls in lot number order, beginning with the smallest lot number. 17. Moser Ranch “Cattleman’s Auction” base starting prices are subject to change at the close of the Cattleman’s Auction, November 11, 2017. 18. Bulls not sold on sale day will be available for sale by private treaty following the Cattleman’s Auction. 19. Announcements made sale day will take precedence over any printed or online material concerning the sale. 20. All cattle sell under the Standard Terms and Conditions of the American Simmental Association and the American Angus Association. 21. Again, WEATHER PERMITTING-All sale activities will take place in the Moser Ranch cattle barn. In case of inclement weather, the meal and auction will be held in our shop as in past years. 22. If you are unable to attend the sale, we will once again take phone bids, or, if you wish you may leave a bid on a bull(s). We will handle your funds with utmost discretion. We will make every attempt to contact you if you are outbid during the hour long bidding process. To make arrangements, please contact: Harry . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 785.456.3101 Rex . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 785.317.0689 Lisa . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 785.456.3876 23. Comments on Bulls...
1. Selling half-interest and half-possession. Moser Ranch will keep fall breeding rights. If you want to own the entire bull, just double your final bid. 2. Ranked #2 out of 20 spring bulls for Marbling. 3. #1 Marbling bull in the spring offering with a 158 Marbling Ratio. 4. We have a number of Payweight half-bloods in the offering we think you will really like. 5. Out of one of the real solid cows in our herd. 6. If we didn’t have so much related to him in our herd already, he would not be offered for sale; he would be a Moser Ranch herd sire. That’s how good he is. 4 | MOSER RANCH

Comments on Bulls...
57. We really like this bull, and are selling spring pasture rights and half salvage value on him. We will retain fall breeding rights. If you want to own the entire bull, just double your final bid. 57A. We just missed him in the sale order, that’s the reason he’s 57A. Good numbered, good patterned Payweight son. 58. Great BW to YW EPD spread. His dam is one of our real steady producers. Excellent WW. Ration is 118 for REA. 59. Calving ease prospect. Gained really well on test. 60. Cameron’s bull. Great calving ease numbers; 62# actual birthweight; Ratio 112 for Marbling. 61. Excellent weaning and yearling weights, coupled with a very low birthweight. 62. Out of a first calf heifer. Big scrotal measurement, moderate framed bull. 63. Out of a first calf heifer, this bull has nice growth EPDs. 64. Here’s a really nice Payweight son out of a first calf heifer. Calving ease and growth in the same package. 65. Out of a good producing 10-year-old dam that always does a nice job for us. 8 | MOSER RANCH
66. Good calving ease numbers with plenty of growth. Gained very well on test. 67. Moderate framed bull that is deep and thick. 68. Here’s a really good numbered bull. He may be the best “all around” bull in our fall Angus offering. 69. Excellent calving ease and growth. He is an eye catcher. 70. Heifer bull prospect with a CED of 15 and a BW of -1.2. Out of a first calf heifer. 71. Here is a cow bull out of a really nice uddered 11-year-old dam. He gained really well on test 72. Simply put, this bull has the whole package. He is a deep, massive, high capacity bull with top of the crop weaning performance ratio of 114. Highest $B and $W values in our offering! 73. This Black Granite son is a very complete package. Very good weaning performance 107 ratio and good maternal value. His dam is a really good, high performance Right Answer daughter. 74. This bull has excellent growth, performance and maternal potential. Two of the breeds high performance bulls in this pedigree! Dam has weaning and yearling ratios of 103 and 111.

75. The Hoover Dam mother of this calf raised one of our top performance bulls in the 2015 calf crop. 76. This bull’s mother is one of the few cows that we have ever flushed. Older, unrelated breeding in her but she was top flight! 77. High performance potential in this calf. High $B value. He is a good one. 78. The dam of this calf is a direct daughter of the New Design 878 bull. 79. This is a nicely made Payweight son. The Payweights sons are really solid. 80. Use this bull on cows. He has two of the breeds real power bulls in his pedigree. 81. Another bull with great calving ease potential. With Chinook and Wisdom in his pedigree, he has a lot of potential for maternal and overall performance. 82. This is a very shapely, heavy muscled, nicely balanced son of Comrade, who is a calving ease specialist. Out of a really nice Wisdom, first calf heifer with a 107 weaning wt. ratio. 83. A nice Black Granite son with a 105 weaning weight ratio. Can use him on cows or large framed heifers.
84. This calf is very long bodied and should continue to really grow and perform. Leupold is an attractive, high performance son of Ten X. 85. This bull has many good cows in his background. His mother has longevity with 9 calves and above average ratios for weaning and yearling weight. 86. Lots of calving ease and yearling growth potential in this calf. Check out the Birth weight to Yearling weight spread in his EPD’s! 87. This should be a good calving ease sire. He is bred that way. 88. The home raised sire of this calf was one of the best in the 2014 calf crop. His calves are thick made with very good performance. Very good weaning ratio of 108 and 3.03 ADG to weaning with no creep. 89. Don’t overlook this young bull!! He had the highest adjusted weaning ratio in the calf crop of 121 and birth to wean ADG of 3.43 with no creep. Pathfinder dam! 90. Excellent weaning performance at 109 ratio and very good maternal potential in this bull. ANNUAL BULL SALE | 9

Delivery
Our Personal Relationship with You, Our Customer (Since 1993)
Moser Ranch will pick up the first $250/head on transportation expenses on bulls averaging $5,000. We will assist buyers in making the most economical trucking arrangements for other bulls. Transportation is at buyer’s risk; please insure your purchases.
Herd Health
Our herd veterinarians are Dr. Ann Buchanan and Dr. Randall Hobrock. All bulls have been tested for BVD PI, Trichomoniasis and Leukosis.
Semen Testing
All bulls were semen tested on October 26, 2017. For bulls not working until Spring 2018, a re-check is recommended at that time.
Retained Semen Interest
The Moser Ranch is retaining a 1/3 semen interest in all Moser bulls in the offering.
Our Unique Approach to Bull Development
Fall bulls were weaned this past April. They summered on a section of native grass. Spring bulls were weaned last October, then wintered on a growing ration. They spent the spring on brome and fescue and then were moved to native grass. For presale development, fall bulls are in an 80 acre native pasture, and spring bulls in a 30 acre native pasture. Test gain results are listed in the catalog. The ration consists of corn silage, ground grass hay, wet distillers, cracked corn and a base mineral & vitamin premix. WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT “RANGE DEVELOPING” OUR BULLS AND NOT PUSHING THEM HARD ON TEST allows them to express their genetics on a more realistic level, stay more structurally sound, and they are presented to you at sale time in “breeding appropriate” condition scores. Please remember that these bulls are still growing, and will continue to do so for at least the next year to year and a half. Until breeding season, they need to stay on a similar plain of nutrition, 5-7# of grain in addition to silage or hay. Please refer to the right side column for more information about our young bull development program.
We have been providing ultrasound information to our customers since 1996. We feel that using the carcass EPDs is a more accurate way to make your selection than by using the adjusted raw ultrasound data. Individual animal ratios are listed for the ultrasound information on each bull.
Moser Ranch Customer Services Customer service remains at the top of our priority list. We want to get to know you and your operation, how you manage and market your cattle. If we can ever be of service, either with herd health, production or marketing, we are only a phone call or a herd visit away. When it comes to marketing, whether it be with selling calves at weaning, backgrounding your calf crop, finding a reputable feedlot to finish your Moser Ranch genetics, or marketing open or bred females, we will assist you in any way that we can. We are only as successful as you are.
Winter Bull Care (Since 2006)
If you are unable to take your bull(s) at this time, we offer the following care option: We will feed any purchases free of charge until December 1, 2017. From December 1st to April 1, 2018, we will feed the bulls for $375.00/head. This fee includes normal care and feeding and a spring semen test. Any out of the ordinary expenses-vet, etc.-will be the responsibility of the owner. After April 1, a charge of $3.00/head/day will incur. The $375.00 will be charged at settlement. They will be cared for as they have been prior to the sale. SELLER WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY OR DEATH OF ANIMAL(S). Insurance is readily available; please consider this option for your genetic investment.
5% Repeat Buyer Discount (Since 2006)
To reward loyal bull customers, we are pleased to continue our “Repeat Buyer Discount” this year. If you purchased a bull or bulls in our November 12, 2016 sale, or if you use only Moser Ranch bulls in your operation, you will receive 5% off your total bull purchase in this November 11, 2017 Moser Ranch Cattleman’s Auction. This is a continuous credit policy, which is in effect each year. The 5% discount is determined after all credits have been subtracted from the gross purchase price. The 5% discount will apply ONLY to bull purchases made on November 11, 2017.
Never close the door on an opportunity until you’ve had a chance to hear the offer…
Sometimes opportunity presents itself in “out of the box” ways. Early on this past summer, Craig and Amy Good approached us and wondered if there was an avenue possible through Moser Ranch that we could help them market their January through March 2017 Angus bull calves. After just the first brainstorming session between Harry & Lisa and Craig & Amy, it was clear that their goals over the 56 years that Good Farms has been raising Angus cattle were quite similar to those of Moser Ranch. We are so pleased that Good Farms Angus, Olsburg, KS, will be joining us on November 11th, by offering an elite set of their January through March 2017 Angus bulls. Weaned on September 6th, this group of calves was received here at Moser Ranch on September 29th. The 19 head of Good Farms Angus bulls that are being developed at Moser Ranch represent the Good’s and Moser’s mutual selection of the “best” from a contemporary group of 58 head of males. In addition to these 19 Angus calves, Moser Ranch has 2 purebred Simmental bull calves and 1 SimAngus bull calf in this younger offering, which were born in February 2017. The genetic merit of all these 2017 bull “calves” in the Moser Ranch sale matches those of the spring and fall 2016 “semen-tested, ready to service cows” bulls in this offering. With confidence, you can look into this set of youngsters in a “crystal clear” crystal ball. What you see on sale day will be ready for pick-up (or delivery) on April 1, 2018, in a much larger, mature package. And here is the irresistible offer that goes with this set of bulls: These young calves will be developed at MOSER RANCH UNTIL APRIL 1, 2018, AT NO CHARGE TO THE BUYER. They will be semen tested and ready to turn out at that time. Your satisfaction is GUARANTEED. Please do not hesitate to call Craig (785.556.3085) or Harry (785.456.3101) if you have any questions at all about this unique opportunity.

Prayer for Our Troops
Let us pray for our brothers and sisters as they go forth with courage and determination to face the forces of violence, weapons of destruction and hearts filled with hate. Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess, we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces. Give them courage, hope and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever. Amen.
