BEGINNING FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2019 9 AM with bid-off at 10:00 AM at the ranch Definition of Moser Ranch Private Treaty Bull Sale
5% Repeat/Loyal Buyer Discount (since 2006)
Private Treaty Cattle Sales are sales in which the owner negotiates directly with the prospective buyer. Since we made the decision to sell our bulls via private treaty, several customers expressed an interest in being able to bid more than the base price of any bull, in the event that more than one party is interested in a bull they have chosen. For that reason, our intent to have a simple bid off was implemented in 2018. We set a price on each lot which is listed here in the catalog. The sale will begin at 9AM. Any bulls with interest from more than one potential buyer will be bid off in a small, low-key, straight forward process at 10AM, with only the interested buyers involved, either in person, or on the phone.
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF ELIGIBILITY DATES SINCE WE HAVE GONE TO A PRIVATE TREATY SALE To reward loyal bull customers, we are pleased to continue our “Repeat Buyer Discount” this year. If you purchased a bull or bulls between November 1-3, 2018, or if you use only Moser Ranch bulls in your operation, you will receive 5% off your total purchase for any bulls purchased ON THE DATES OF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1 AND SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2. This is a continuous credit policy which is in effect each year. The 5% discount is determined after all credits have been subtracted from the gross purchase price. Again, the 5% discount will apply ONLY to bull purchases made BETWEEN THE DATES FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST through SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND.

About the Bulls Selling
Bull Information in our Catalog
There is no “sale order.” Listing in the catalog is based completely by Sire groups and age of each bull within each sire group.
Herd Health All bulls have been tested negative for PI-BVD and Leucosis (Bovine Leukemia). All bulls are guaranteed Trichomoniasis free. All bulls have been tested for Anaplasmosis. Call us for an industry update on this major impact issue and how our bulls will fit into your program. Our herd veterinarians are Dr. Ann Buchanan and Dr. Randall Hobrock.
Semen Testing All bulls will be semen tested on October 18, 2019. For bulls not working until Spring 2019, a re-check is recommended at that time.
Retained Semen Interest Moser Ranch is retaining a 1/3 semen interest in all bulls in the offering.
Our Unique Approach to Bull Development Bull calves were weaned April 18, 2019. Sixty-nine bulls summered on native prairie. For presale development, all bulls have run in an 80-acre native pasture and been fed a ration consisting of corn silage, ground grass hay, wet distillers, cracked corn and a base mineral and vitamin premix. WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT “RANGE DEVELOPING” OUR BULLS AND NOT PUSHING THEM HARD ON TEST allows them to express their genetics on a more realistic level, stay more structurally sound, and they are presented to you at sale time in “breeding appropriate” condition scores. Please remember that these bulls are still growing and will continue to do so for at least the next year to year and a half. Until breeding season, they need to stay on a similar plane of nutrition, 5-7# of grain in addition to silage or hay.
Winter Bull Care If you do not wish to take your bull(s) at this time, we offer the following care option: We will feed any purchase free of charge until December 1, 2019. From December 1, 2019 through April 1, 2020, we will feed bulls for $375.00/head. This fee includes normal care and feeding and a spring semen test. Any out of the ordinary expenses (vet, medications, etc.) will be the responsibility of the owner. After April 1, 2020, a charge of $3.50/head/day will be incurred. The $375.00 will be charged at settlement. Bulls will be cared for as they have been during the development phase. SELLER WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY OR DEATH OF ANIMAL(S). Insurance is readily available; please consider this option for your genetic investment.
Delivery Moser Ranch will pick up the first $250/head on transportation expenses on bulls selling for $5,000 or greater. We will assist buyers in making the most economical trucking arrangements for other bulls. Transportation is at buyer’s expense; please insure your purchases.

Welcome
What a year! Three hundred and sixty-five days ago, we were dry, feed was in short supply, then winter started early and was a brutal one, and “the rest is history,” to coin a popular phrase. Rain was plentiful throughout 2019; heaven forbid we say this, but sometimes there was too much. We cut hay this summer that was as good as any we have ever seen, even though we never got more than a three-day run at it because of intermittent moisture. The pastures have had growth like never before. Ponds have been flushed over and over again, and springs are running crystal clear. We in agriculture are used to the changes of the seasons, but it’s safe to say that the previous year in particular has been quite a challenge. As mentioned on the cover of our catalog, we continue to focus on the entire gamut of the industry. Bob Dickinson, Kansas Simmental pioneer and our primary mentor in our initial years in the business back in the early 80’s, stated this fact unequivocally, “It all starts with a live calf.” Calving ease has always been a trademark of our efforts. From there, fast and efficient calf growth on the cow and in the feedlot, resulting in the ultimate eating experience that the consumer will remember and come back for time and time again are what it’s all about here in our operation. Given our thirty-seven-year emphasis on the “full circle” approach to the beef business, we are confident there are bulls in our offering that will help you accomplish whatever production goals you are looking to improve in your particular situation. Give us a call, come on by and take a look before the sale. We’ll be happy to sit down and visit about your needs and help you find specifically what you’re looking for. Please note just how many bulls in our catalog have EPDs in the Top 25% of the Simmental/SimAngus breed, as noted by EPDs listed in BOLD Italic print. In our quest to raise the best possible all-encompassing beef animal, please note that 83% of our Simmental/SimAngus offering is in the Top 25% for All Purpose Index, reflecting that these bulls will not only produce daughters suitable for in-herd replacements, but the balance of their offspring will perform well above average in the feedlot and on the rail when compared to the general population of Simmental/SimAngus bulls in this country. We are not selling as many bulls as we have in the past, even though our registered cow numbers have not changed from years prior. We have taken seriously our commitment to building exceptional genetics, and now offer you the opportunity to utilize what we have developed to strengthen your program. Our desire to sell only the very best of what Moser Ranch has to offer in terms of genetic advancement for our customers has been conjoined by an additional focus on producing a superior end-product directly for consumers through a niche market. This “Ranch to Table” endeavor, in its third year and growing, is a most exciting venture here at Moser Ranch. The distinctive marketing method we implemented in 2018 was very well accepted, and once again our sale will be a low-key, casual event. You will know from start to finish how much interest there is in every bull, and whether or not you’ll have to bid, or if you’ll be buying your bull for the base price listed in the catalog. Since our first auction at Holton Livestock in 1993, our customers have been the strength of our business. YOU and the beef consumer are why we do what we do; raise the best possible cattle so that all of us together can make a living in agriculture while at the same time fulfilling our role as good and respectful stewards of the animals and the land that God has entrusted to our care. Sincerely, Harry and Lisa Moser Cameron & Carrie, Scarlet, Thane & Maive Moser
