A Kindergarten school helps to develop scientific thinking in kids Miss Sarita Bhowal (name changed), a teacher of one of the best pre and primary play schools in Kolkata asked her students to come on the school's ground because she would not like to take a class in a four wall class room. Miss Bhowal planned to make her students familiar with various objects that they learned in the textbooks. She asked her students to make two lists on nature-made stuff and manmade objects from whatever students can see. Likewise, students make a list of trees, flowers, grass, fly, clouds, etc while they also list building, fence, cars, cycles, all the outdoor play sets, etc. Many teachers at pioneering play schools and various creche in Kolkata organize a variety of attractive and challenging situations, which trigger mind of a young child to observe, explore and experiment many things. Aims of the childhood science curriculum are to promote and develop scientific thinking among children. Children often express curiosity about the world and they want to know answers of many questions. Why does the sky look blue? What makes leaves green? How do trees grow? These "why" and "how" make the foundation of a childhood science curriculum. Top daycare & night care like Genius Kids in Garia does not make science to be imparted to the curriculum rather they include the science in a way that students do practice it. At the childhood, a kid aspires to be scientist, not a consumer of science. Miss Soheli Shome, a teacher at montessori training institute in Kolkata says that they allow kids to ask their own queries, collect their own data so that they can come out with wonderful ideas. Kindergarten schools in Kolkata feel scientific thinking does not progress just by learning various scientific facts. Rather, scientific thinking allows kids to find out answers of their own queries. It gives pleasure learning what great scientists have discovered. However, scientific thinking helps a child to make his or her own invention. Miss Bhowal and Miss Shome, correctly, encourage kids to explore characteristics of water, animals, and insects, properties of plants and life cycles of living objects. Students can experience with different patterns and situations found in nature like seasons, light and shadows, day and night, etc. while they study in the nature. In fact,

unplanned events in the classroom and on the playground can be good teaching tools for promoting scientific thinking among kids. In the persuasion of knowledge only, students often lost their interest and find hard to motivate themselves. Mind it, children, by nature; want to seek out problems to solve. Such attitudes and actions engage them in scientific thinking before they enter a school. Good play schools nurture such attitudes.
