OBJECTIVE Strathcona County is seeking to explore the market and establish a list of consultants with GIS expertise desiring to work with the Information Technology Services department, as required, in the areas of GIS analysis, GIS applications support and development and software installation, maintenance and upgrades. Successful candidates who are approached to provide contracted services may be required to sign a STANDARD FORM CONTRACT which will provide general guidelines for services. Work assignments will be made solely at the discretion of Strathcona County.

BACKGROUND The County has approximately 700 networked workstations and operates an ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 GIS environment on top of a Microsoft Windows based network with Windows 200X on the servers and Windows XP Professional on the desktop and laptop systems. The Servers and PCs in the organization run a wide variety of applications appropriate to the job functions and the lines of business. The County has computer systems in approximately 30 buildings, and several of these are up to 50 km from Sherwood Park, the main urban centre of Strathcona County. A significant number of staff are located at County Hall, in Sherwood Park, and the remainder are deployed in the other buildings. The County GIS is supported by a staff of twenty in Information Technology Services (ITS) department, four of whom are specialists in the GIS Service Area. There are approximately 65 dispersed GIS users of varying skill levels in the other County departments, not including the County GIS Wizard which is part of every standard desktop.
